Thank you, dear Sandra! I've gained so much insight from you since I discovered your site about a year ago. Today's message was powerful! As usual, you presented it with gentle encouragement, helping us to bring out the best in ourselves by looking for creative possibilities instead of negative road blocks. I'm now 75 years young, a piano teacher since 1981. This school year a colleague asked me to take over some of her students and I said yes, adding six new students to my weekly teaching schedule. Why say, "Yes, but.... I'm already at retirement age?" Our insights as seniors come precisely from the experiences we have lived through - our successes, failures, and challenges! In 2015, I had a stroke that could have ended my life at the piano. But my wise and inspiring neurologist spoke words that changed my future life: "It's not your arm, your hand or your fingers that are injured. It's your brain, and you can rewire the neurons if you do the work!" As soon as he left my hospital room, I started doing mental exercises to retrain the muscles of my left hand! Eventually I saw improvement in tiny increments. I reasoned that if I could move my hand even the tiniest bit, the possibility for more movement was there, just waiting to be coaxed outside. And my perseverance paid off! It was probably the hardest work I have ever done - invisible mental work that looked like I was doing nothing! During the COVID lockdown I saw and listened to workshops, masterclasses, concerts and other musical inspiration online. After watching a workshop on piano technique, I signed up for online ZOOM classes with a Polish teacher who inspired me to continue regaining my former skills. And just a few weeks ago I participated in my sixth ZOOM recital with other pianists from cities all over the world! Say YES! It can bring new experiences that will give you the joy and freedom to become who you truly are!
You are amazing. My mom had a stroke and it was nothing but down hill after that. If only I could have found the right words of encouragement for her as your doctor gave to you. She had just had enough, I believe.
@@patsy6589 , I am so sorry about your mother. You are probably right in that she had reached her limit. I think my lifelong dedication to the piano is what made the difference for me. My parents were professional musicians so it's in my blood and somehow I was able to do the work. But I recognize that there are different levels of injury in terms of a stroke.
Changing Yes, BUT to Yes, AND is life changing for all ages! What an awesome tweak lol Thank you, Sandra 🧡 ...and for the lovely walk from the cottage. I could smell the fresh air lol
My dear Sandra, I watched Romper Room every day. Your voice was so comforting. I never heard that in my home. You made me feel safe. Thank you so very much! 🌺
Dear Sandra, having lost my mom at 22 yrs old I always have an affinity for mature ladies. I want to thank you for all your talks and sharing. Most days I feel very alone, but really try not to feel this way. You are an inspiration. God bless you! Ana M.
Sandra, you look wonderful. Absolutely vibrant and happy! Talking about hesitancy in taking chances resonates with me. Luckily, my partner (30 years my junior) shames me into going for it and I am so thankful! Those risky situations always turn out to have the best outcomes. 😊❤
Here I am Sandra! On the other side of the camera 😃. I am a 51 year old who finds great comfort in listening to your conversations. It’s like having a good friend coming on here being able to spend some time with you. I can certainly use it too.
I grew up in a "yabut" family - having my dreams and goals squelched with a litany of "yabuts" - what you call "yes, but". I missed out on many opportunities over my lifetime, and have many regrets, but I've learned that I can no longer listen to the "yabuts", and must pay attention to the "yes, ands"! Thank you for sharing your wisdom, along with the lovely tour!
Sandra, I am grateful for your dear mother for encouraging you with Romper Room! I remember watching and listening for when you would "see" me! And, I'm grateful to you for teaching me then and now! You are SO very loved and appreciated! 💗
Very, very true! Saying yes, but… stopping you from exploring new things. Saying yes, and… giving you completely new ideas more and more! Thank you so much Sandra! My wise guru❤️🍀👏
Yes, and I am so happy I've seen the beautiful surroundings of you son's home in person. I'm pretty sure that was in 2019, my how time flies, Sandra. You know I agree with your philosophy of positivity. The concert sounded wonderful, what a great surprise for Emerson. Blessings, and love, my beautiful friend...MaryEllen
I can’t believe that it was that many years ago. Our lunch at the Loveless Cafe and time together with you and Jim was so very special. Love you my friend. 💕Sandra
There’s a lot of power in the two words yes and no. I love the positive message of yes but I’ve also had to learn to say no. Enjoy your visit with the family. It looks so peaceful there. YES.
Dear Sandra...every time I watch your content, I think how wonderful it would be to see you in person, to have a friend like you (impossible, I'm in Europe)...I'm going trough major crisis as a mom and I'm very lonely in it. Your wise words somehow ground me and make life livable again. Thank you so much 🙏💫
Hi Sandra you look so beautiful Thanks for the pleasant walk with you this morning. Lovely place. I will going to Nashville in September. Take care my dear friend😊
Hi Nana Sandra. "She's just a Nashville Girl." The other day Justin said to us that "Worry" is the greatest sin in his church. That we should always look forward to God and His Promise of Greater things. If we are always worrying (The BUT !!) we will never get to the promise (Yes, AND !!). If we always question and worry about what the universe is sending us, we will never see what the experience will be.
My niece just bought and restored an older home in Nashville and now living in it. I believe it’s one in a historic area. You look amazing and go girl with that concert you went to

Dear Mrs. Hart, thank you so much for this and other your videos. I've watched one of them 2 years ago and have sent it to my brother when he had a hard period in his life. It has really helped both of us. Your brightness and maturity make me feel calm and make me believe in a better tomorrow. With gratitude and respect, Dana.
Hi Sandra, I loved this conversation today. You always inspire me. I look forward to your voice and your smiling face on UA-cam and when I first saw you as a child on Romper Room. Yes and…..thank you. ❤
I always look forward to watching your latest vlog or any word from you Sandra. In this video you gave me the courage to go forward with a preventive procedure I was afraid of. Yes and really changed me from fearful to fearless. I loved you on Romper room and I love you still.

Every subject you choose to talk about is crackling with positive energy. I am a pessimist by nature and your talks in the You Tube, has made me think that life has a positive side too and its worth thinking and living positively after all!

Oh Sandra I’m so late in watching your conversation in Nashville. It’s been a busy week. Today am relaxing a bit. I loved your vlog and your improv conversation. Your son’s home looks lovely. I remember seeing some of the area before such a beautiful outdoor area a calm pleasant place for you to visit and especially having your cozy cottage just for you. The evening being at the Tonic concert must have been so special how fun !!! In your conversation that BUT word can definitely be a downer The AND word is the move forward so true. Such an interesting concept. You always have the best ideas to share with us. I love your videos (conversations). Have a great time in Nashville. See you soon again. ❤
Sandra, not sure which is more beautiful, you or the area! Thank you for sharing your kids’ lovely Tennessee paradise with us, and enjoy every minute you can with your family. I had a vacation home north of Knoxville, in a little area called Sharps Chapel located along Norris Lake, it was so serene. I’m happy you can take in the Tennessee area too for some good R&R. ❤️
I loved seeing the bee hives and the chicken coop! What a delight to enjoy having that on your property to enjoy! Thanks for speaking about the "glass half full or empty" topic today. We all need more positivity in our daily lives. I think our internal safety net is why we so often decline offers and opportunities in life. And thanks for sharing the concert! How fun!!!
Hi Sandra Waving back at you from this side of the screen👋 I wish I could have heard about “Yes…and” when I was 17. One of the few regrets I have in my life is not having the confidence to take a job as a tour guide at Universal Studios in the early 70s. The tours of the backlots used for filming were a new attraction and the Studio was hiring “tour guides” to ride on the trams and stand up in front with a microphone to announce the various sites and the film history that were on the route. My dad had secured the position for me because they wanted young women to wear the cute tour guide uniform. Dad had confidence in me that I could handle the public speaking and converse with any random group who came on board, but it was too scary to me. When he asked me if I wanted to do it, I said , “Yes-but…” he encouraged me to think it over as it would have been a great opportunity to get out in the world and grow the very self confidence I was lacking- but I said no. I ended up working in a department store - that felt less intimidating- I actually had learn to use the same skills- but if I could do it over, that tour guide job sure would have been exciting. Now at 73, I definitely look to say Yes and - whenever possible. Thanks for taking us with you to your son’s lovely home❤
It looks so peaceful there ! I tend to be a timid person but years ago realized that life presents limited number of opportunities - you can act on them or let them pass you by - usually to your own detriment . A man years ago said to me 'if someone offers you something you take it' as I was declining his gift as my narcissistic father stood beside me . I had been taught that I was unworthy of others' kindness and opportunity . Since then I've grasped onto many things thrown my way and have experienced more in life than I ever thought possible . I've also endured much criticism by family members for doing so . Naysayers need to be weeded out .
Thank you Sandra, that is such great advice. Enjoy your time in such beautiful surroundings with you family. Safe travels back home. Lots of love from Sydney Australia.
I am 67 and I have always been more of a realist. Along with that however, comes a lot of yes, but. I recently had to face a total knee replacement. For a year or more aĺ I could see was the yes, but. I finally had to Chand that around to saying, yes but what if I will be better off because of it. I think alot of us could attest to the fact that most of the things we have worried about never happened anyway. What a shame to alow doubt to take up space in our minds. Enjoyed this video and love your surroundings especially hearing the circadian chirping away. This is a beautiful time of the year right now here in OH.❤

I had a vacation home north of Knoxville, in a little area called Sharps Chapel located along Norris Lake, it was so serene. I’m happy you can take in the Tennessee area too for some good R&R. ❤️
Sandra, you're such an inspiration, so I'm happy you're spending time with your family it's such a beautiful place.❤❤❤❤❤

Wonderful! Thank you
Hello Sandra ❤ warm greetings from Chicago ! Thank you ❤ you are my inspiration since I saw you on you. Tube . I am 77 yrs old
I loved seeing the bee hives and the chicken coop! What a delight to enjoy having that on your property to enjoy! Thanks for speaking about the "glass half full or empty" topic today. We all need more positivity in our daily lives. I think our internal safety net is why we so often decline offers and opportunities in life. And thanks for sharing the concert! How fun!!!
Beautiful nature walk!! ...Back to the video!! ❤️
Many thanks!
Powerful message delivered in your heart warming style. You look so pretty & what a lovely property your son has. Enjoy 😎
I love seeing your videos from Nashville! Keep ‘em coming!😊
Thank you, dear Sandra!
