      Notice your a Christian(lukewarm or real) but brace yourself and your family if you live on the east coast. I currently live in Tampa Bay, but the holy spirit led some of us either to move or to gather water and canned food for the great tsunami and the famine. He is going to shake this nation so people come back to him. I don't know what your relationship is with the creator, but since I sub to you might as well be obedient and spread the word. If your spirit doesn't receive this just ask him yourself to lead you and you family. To confirm he even lead my wife and I to other UA-camrs that had similar warnings either by dream or scripture which he led me to Ezekiel...which had my heart racing but felt it was a justification for this nation. It's not going to be pretty as barely any pastors talk about the second trumpet rev.8:7-8.God bless you and you family and spread the word and pray for wisdom.
      P.S. I'm just a regular dude and never done anything like not even religious just being obedient if you truly understand.

      You are correct Randall, I am a born-again Christian, a follower of Jesus and also was a student pastor for 23 years. My faith is integrated into every aspect of my life, even my two businesses (Website Development and Youthman).
      The Bible is very clear that in the end times it will get considerably worse. We must all be ready. God bless.

      Anyway thanks for the video.

    Great video Michael. This is such a true issue with most systems.
    GIK does an amazing job and they are great to work with. My main system is fully treated by GIK.
    I’m currently waiting on an order for my office.
    I picked up some Polk Legend L600s recently and now that I have a real system in the office it needs to be treated for the best 2 channel listening possible.
    Great job man.

    Awesome video! Just remember that decay times need to be as linear as possible throughout the frequency spectrum. If you absorb one area of frequencies a lot more than the others (uneven room decay times), things can start sounding weird 😉

    As always, solid content.
    Michael, seeing that underutilized area up top above and around your mains... the theater could truly benefit from a massive amount of additional bass trapping... more of a brute force approach;) and it'd be quite easy.
    GIK is awesome.
    The existing panels look great, and work great, but aren't likely addressing critical bass range enough, that would truly elevate bass performance.
    I understand the appeal of your approach utilizing ready made products like GIK. But nothing has the performance/price ratio of massive amounts of pink fluffy absorption.
    I point this out because that entire area around your speakers and all the way up to the ceiling above, all of it,... would benefit greatly from being filled with fluffy batts of insulation.
    Hung vertically, or folded over like pairs of pants. Or even techniques like chicken wire, or plastic bird netting attached and stretched side to side, adds well needed support preventing overly compressed material.
    I'd fill it all, the entire area possible behind the screen and all the way up.
    - This addresses two significant performance issues;
    1.) Primarily, all that air mass up around the cabinets, there's a ton of output radiated in all directions, and nothing good comes from it.
    All that acoustic early reflected energy destructively corrupts the wave-launch.
    Eliminating as much of that as possible cleans up the direct sound, stripping away that latent energy arriving a short time after the direct energy.
    You're striving for a nice clean ITD, or Initial Time Delay, enabling the listener to form a distinct reconstruction of the recorded event.
    2.) Secondarily, as much damping possible in the front-to-back axis attenuates those resonances, as well as brings down and evens up decay times in the LF.
    All this, diy'ed for a couple hundred dollars in material, would dramatically improve everything top to bottom, imaging/soundstaging, etc.
    Most significantly, increasing bass definition and clarity,... with greater resolution of transient effects.
    The next step would be as much bass damping as possible at your rear wall, ... the entire surface ideally.
    Then, if needed/as needed, on the face of the trapping... bring in any diffusion necessary for liveliness etc.
    I know that's a lot, and I get it... everything in due time, I know. Just wanted to share.
    Appreciate the content.

      @Youthman  2 роки тому

      I certainly appreciate the info. I would be willing to do something like that up front behind the cabinet. Need to do some research for sure. Thanks again!

    I'm wrestling with doing this in the near future. My room had some pretty obvious issues, but I recently had insulation blown into my attic and an adjoining wall (1963 built house), and that totally changed the sound of the room. I have two old Acoustimac panels on the side wall across from a heavily-draped window and that seems to deal with first reflections to the sides... and I don't particularly hear obvious slap echo in the room. However, I do have some frequency issues around 100Hz that have me considering bass traps on the front wall, and I have a wooden door that seems to make my right rear surround more generalized than I'd like, so it may be time to dig into treatments soon.

  • @TaylorMadeTheater
    @TaylorMadeTheater 2 роки тому

    Finally! Crank it up! still need those corner traps, those make the most noticeable difference to bass response.

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  2 роки тому

      For many years I had corner traps in one corner. I decided to measure with and without them and was absolutely surprised that they made zero difference in my frequency response. Not sure if I needed them in more than one corner

    • @TaylorMadeTheater

      @@YouthmanBasically there is no corner of my room without 6 to 12 inchs of studio foam. I filled ever corner with them wall to wall plus curtains and GIK panels in every available spot, I went with 8 12"cubes in all the corners and about 40 24"x12" sections everywhere else . I don't have a way to measure yet but I can hear a huge improvement. Have to turn it up louder now after calibration so looking forward to and external amp. The room sound isn't dead either, I feel like It would take anechoic chamber levels of foam or rockwool to kill the room character. I also want a cloud panel hung at the main reflection points on the celling. You might need stuff larger than 12 inches deep for an impact in that large of a room.

      well yea lol. But I wanted to hear a direct A/B comparison, it's much easier to hear the amount of echo that was removed with a clap vs. your voice that stayed at relative volume level. Either way it was obvious that the treatment is doing an incredible job and the room looks even better so once again great job!

    I don’t understand why the little deflectors work, I its not enough. I was in a convention center’s auditorium and the walls had 2 inches of foam rubber covered with a beige cotton cover throughout all the walls. The ceiling (30 ft high) had some design to disperse the sound. They had line speakers on the ceiling and other speakers. I thought the sound was great and I didn’t hear reflections.
    What would happen if you did the same on your walls? DIY.

    For behind your screen, try duct board. It comes in 4x10, sheets, it's already black on one side. The best place to get it is a Johnstone Supply. You can make a cash customer account. To see prices or buy stuff they make you have an account but once I figured out that I could do that, problem solved. Anyways, a sheet is a little less than $50, you can install them with screws and large washers. And it can be cut with a hand saw.

    Damn the room looks very busy now. Since the panels don't color match the walls, they stand out. Also they cast shadows being offset from the wall.
    To me that would be distracting when a movie is playing.
    I would hide that behind black stretch fabric, or full length AT curtains.

    Hi Youthman! I love you GIK panels. I have a question regarding acoustic panel. I wanted to get GIK panels but my speakers are Bipole and Dipole . Do you think it will make difference or affects the sounds quality because those speakers rely on reflection to create a bigger soundstage.

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  2 роки тому +1

      I have wide dispersion side and rear surrounds. My GIK panels are combo panels so they still allow for reflections.

    What in ceiling speakers are you using? What would you suggest to use with the SVS Ultra towers and finally do you suggest any speakers to step up past the SVS speakers? Thank you ahead of time.

    • @Youthman

      If you have Ultra Towers, look no further than the SVS Prime Elevation for Atmos.
      There are many models and brands that would be an upgrade from SVS but that’s all preference and can be said about any brand.

      I’m building theater room for when my new home gets built. I havnt auditioned too many speakers. I’ve heard Focal, Klipsch, some Best Buy Magnolia room stuff (not really impressed). I see you have been a fan of Klipsch and that you ultimately went with JTR. I like the sound of Klipsch maybe it’s the horns?? I want to feel the impact when I watch movies. At the top of my list I’m looking at the new JBL Synthesis in wall speakers, SCL 6,7, and 8. They have compression drivers and maybe that’s the sound I want. Should I consider JTR?? Thoughts Youthman?
