When I first saw this movie it was so fascinating to me how long you can go in a movie without any real verbal conversation between characters. They managed to give these robots so many non-verbal expressions and emotions. Good job, Pixar 👍
Something few ever mention about the movie, but always pops into my brain... Cockroaches live for only about half a year. WALL-E is about 700 years old. Odds are...he's had that entire family line of cockroaches as his pets for most, if not all, of that time. He's watched millions of generations of his beloved pets die, over and over. And still, his sense of fondness and devotion remain unfazed. That's some Zen shit right there. To witness for centuries, the futility and impermanence of life, but to still love all without condition or reservation.
Well, they would all act the same (he'd get good at training them) and it would be like after a few months your dog just won't wake up or disappear and eventually another dog just wanders up to you and you know it could die of old age in a few weeks so you wouldn't get that attached to them, it's more like a goldfish relationship.
In the WALL-E PC videogame, they actually confirm this! The start of the game plays when most WALL-E's were still alive, and you see a family of cockroaches pass by, with the last one looking at WALL-E before he leaves
Darkest part that I like is just seeing all the captains getting fatter and fatter while Auto keeps getting closer. It shows how much humanity has lost control while Auto is taking it. Also 700th anniversary of our 5 year trip...

20:56 for some reason nearly makes me tear up. There is just something so unbelievably genuine and pure in how he says her name and wants to make sure she can see how beautiful it is.
Director Andrew Stanton explained why he used excerpts from Hello, Dolly! (1969) in an interview: "When I got to 'Hello, Dolly!' and I played 'Put on Your Sunday Clothes', and that first phrase 'Out there...' came out, it just fit musically... I finally realized, 'You know what, this song is about two guys that are just so naive, they've never left a small town, and they just wanna go out in the big city for one night and kiss a girl. That's my main character.' And then my co-writer, Jim Reardon, said, 'You know what, he could actually discover an old tape in the trash, and that's how he got inspired by it, and it's a great way to show that he's got a romantic slant.' So we started looking at the movie, and when I found the other song, 'It Only Takes a Moment', and saw the two lovers holding hands, I realized, 'That's a perfect way for my main character to express the phrase 'I love you' without being able to say it.'" The vacuuming robot that follows WALL-E and EVE has a robotic version of the song "Put On Your Sunday Clothes." It's the first two lines of the song's chorus in electronic form. Stanton had portrayed Barnaby Tucker in a 1980 high school production. Jerry Herman allowed his songs to be used in the film without fully realizing how or why. When he saw how they worked in the film, he claimed it was "genius". To explore the possibilities of pure visual storytelling, Andrew Stanton and the Pixar team watched every single Charles Chaplin and Buster Keaton movie, both short films and features, every day during lunch for about 18 months.
I've rewatched this countless times when I was a kid. The older I got the more I actually understood about what was actually going on and how despotic it was. Honestly, the best parts for me was just seeing WALL-E and EVE interacting with each other. Despite them being robots that really only say three words, they display so much personality and character.
Fun fact about the Axiom dump scene. Originally, EVE was meant to be the one in danger and on the verge of shutting down. WALL-E would have restored her by putting the lighter into her power core (right under where the plant symbol appears). He also would've had a little interaction with the WALL-As (yes that's what those big boys are called) that was kind of cute. The whole sequence was fully animated and near finished, but was ultimately changed to what's in the final film. However, the deleted scene was a special feature on the dvd.
I believe that this change was very necessary. It shows the growth of our characters. We already know WALL-E would do anything for EVE. We saw that during his care on Earth, when leaving it and when going through the stuff on the Axiom. This didn't need to be reinforced. EVE's growing affection, however, needed to be expressed, especially after she discovers how much WALL-E cared.
One of the greatest movies ever made! Such a powerful movie to show kids about the importance of protecting our planet. Not to mention one of the most beautiful love stories in film history.
"Importance" is a myth, we humans are free to nuke the planet just like an asteroid the size of Texas is free to smack right into it and kill everything down to every last bacteria but of course I understand the sentiment.
LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! The opening ten minutes of Wall-E are some of my favourite in cinema history. While the rest of the film isn’t quite as stellar, this movie has to be a contender for Pixar’s magnum opus
it honestly would've been a masterpiece if they'd committed to the darker themes of the movie and didn't bring in humans. but then, it is a kids movie, so i understand that would've been way too out there.
I love when animated movies give such powerful messages in an entertaining and simple that kids can enjoy and get the general thing but when you watched older you see the movie in a different way that kinda inspires you
The childlike wonder Wall.E has, finding beauty in the smallest things, just to be completely blown away when he meets Eve. It really is a magical movie, giving a sense of magic that Wall.E alone can show
Something fun about this movie is watching it with subtitles. Occasionally you will see the words that WALL·E and the rest of the cast are trying to say. A great example of it is when WALL·E is practicing hand holding with towels on his head and he says “Pathetic”.
To this day my favorite part of this movie is EVE's plasma cannon which is her go to tool for every problem. Stuck on a magnet? BLAST IT. Need to escape from a trash area? BLAST IT OPEN.

One is called Burn-E, which is about that welding bot that got locked out of the ship. My favorite Pixar film and one of my favorite movies of all time. I watched it so much when I was little. My uncle Mike got me the dvd and someone else got me the exact same dvd for Christmas.
This is my favorite 3d animated film of all time. It just has it all: brilliant visuals, amazing music, a heartwarming love story told alongside a critique of capitalist systems (Pop Culture Detective made a great video about this, go watch it) and an environmentalist appeal that feels like it’s straight out of a Miyazaki movie. While the first half of the movie is obviously the best part, my favorite part of the movie is near the end, when you think WALL-E is, not just dead, but gone. The movie spends so much of its time making sure WALL-E is set apart from many of his kind. He has a personality, a soul, desires and dreams. And that is the gift he brings to everything he comes across: EVE, MO and the other bots, even the humans. And oftentimes it’s done through music, the “Put on Your Sunday Clothes” showtune. So when EVE repairs him, and he not only doesn’t recognize her and treats his prized possessions like garbage (which is what he was programmed to do), EVE tries the play the showtune and there’s…nothing. Just static. The most human robot of the entire cast is reduced to the machine he was built to be. It’s one of the most painful and heartbreaking deaths in Disney history that is, thankfully reversed.
Probably my favorite PIxar movie. Such great storytelling, drama and emotions from things that really don't talk. Still hits me just watching you guys react to it.
The creative genius required to make a pair of binoculars on top of a trash compactor into a charming and lovable character is nothing short of amazing
I saw this movie in theaters alone when I was younger and I clearly remember crying when Eve was desperately trying to put Wall-E back together. I looked around to see if anyone was watching me, but that is my memory from watching this movie. SO good.
AUTO's role in the movie is a matter of debate. Whether he is a true villain preventing humans from returning to Earth because he wants control, or is merely doing everything he can to follow the orders he was given has been debatable among fans. This issue can be looked upon either way. Due to AUTO's apparent lack of true sentience (he was always very mechanical) it is very possible he was just following his program - however, when a machine follows its program, it can easily be seen as "evil" by human beings since a being that is run purely by logic does not have the capability to understand ethics (in fact, ethics are often the opposite of logic) - this means beings that follow program often appear ruthless, authoritarian and even evil: the idea of a being void of emotion is alien to a lot of humans, and thus is seen as negative regardless of whether or not the character itself is "good" or "bad". Another theory states that he is neither "logical" nor "ethical". However, ethics, which govern proper conduct, must always be in accordance with reason. It can be said that a rational being would interpret mankind's position in the Axiom as physically and intellectually decadent, while their return to Earth shows a realization of duty and a sense of active control over their own fate. Because such a solution is defended in this way, it can be argued as the ethically correct solution for the way humans behave. Often, a cold and emotionless logician does not factor in some of the subjective values that must be taken into account when considering the conduct of people, but AUTO is not trying to think of the best course for humanity. Thus, he is illogical. He operates logically within the confines of his programming, but this is limited to a single mission: "stay the course," and "do not return to Earth." He only thinks of the most efficient way to keep these things true. Thus, he is not "evil" in the sense that he has malice or ill-intent for his own self-benefit. No, he doesn't think at all, he just does. He is an extension of an outdated order from centuries past. He is amoral, though his actions, not the being, are immoral because they would ultimately harm mankind.
I wholeheartedly agree on the theme of purpose. One of the smaller things about the film that I o so love is the fact that even though the umbrella bot and the massage bot couldn't carry out their original "purpose" they still were integral in saving humanity. The massage bot by beating up those steward bots in the corridor and the umbrella bot by hitting the plant up to the scanning platform. This showing that even though you feel like you aren't able to carry out your original purpose you still can be a very important part of something! :)
What I love about so many Pixar movies, is I feel they're timeless. They don't rely on pop-culture to define their humor or story, they're very emotionally down to earth. I remember watching Toy Story recently and it just contains within itself. Wall-E's underlying messages in the background may one day go out of date, but ever since it's been made it's just become a more and more relevant movie from Earth's state, our consumption and surfacing reliance on tech and AI, as well as missing out on just "touching grass" and living infront of the screen a lot. Now not that it's all doom and gloom and we should get rid of it all, it's a fast approaching future with a lot of tech and AI having potential for a lot of good, but it's a beautiful movie to remind to not just delve too far. Other than that, it's just a very charming cute movie that can be enjoyed without taking the story tone in the background into account!
Holy crap! I saw this movie five times in the theater, the most I’ve ever gone for any movie, and I also wrote my first and only fan letter to Andrew Stanton telling him how wonderful I thought it was (never got a response). I love this movie.
It's not Windows sound Wall-E makes when finishes charging, It's the sound Apple computers make when they are turned on. Steve Jobs was one of the investors of Pixar. This movie is, imho, Pixar as it's finest. It's top 5 of my fave movies of all time.
Interesting that the Windows sound is the first thing people think of even when it's an Apple sound. Best use of a Windows boot up sound was Moss rebooting in The IT Crowd.
I saw this with my now partner in New York, the first time we met in person after being friends online for several years. This is the sweetest love story. Bumbling around, desperately wanting to hold their hand and trying to be unobvious (and hence being obvious) about it. Perfectly mirrored what I was doing. Whenever I watch this, I completely forget it's an animation. It's just a beautifully written and directed movie and melds the love story and the environmental message in a way that hits home but still leave hope.
one of my top 3 favorite disney/pixar movies of all time. i never get tired of it. especially the first half where theres little words-- just movement and music and emotion.
This is my childhood movie! I used to watch this everyday with my brother I can't help but have a stupid grin on my face the whole time during the film
The beginning of this movie is amazing. So atmospheric and tells so much without saying much of anything. I know ppl say Up’s only good part is the beginning, but I feel this way about Wall-E. That beginning might be one of the my fav openings to any movie.
Oh my god, the music at 9:42 is a blast to the past in the best way. So nostalgic, I honestly haven't watched this movie in a decade at least. The music and messages founded a lot of early memories and ideas as a child for me and it's so wonderful to experience it again through the reactions. Thank you guys for reacting to it!
The fact that this movie made me laugh so much as a kid with no dialogue is impressive. When Eva shows up to earth , her and wall e made me laugh constantly lol
With us, the movie has the subtitle the last one cleans up the earth. - I don't know what's more beautiful: the movie Wall-E, or watching Calvin watch Wall-E.
I love rewatching my favorite childhood films with these guys, makes me feel so warm and fuzzy inside. In a way, I feel like these guys are a father figure to me
I will never get tired of how wonderful the musical scores were for Pixar films back in their heyday, the music during the "Define Dancing" scene is my absolute favourite piece of music in any of these films
No joke in my top 10 films of all time. So happy it also won out against all other Disney and Pixar animations on a big UA-cam poll recently to finish 1st as it should. Really resonant messages and themes, amazing memorable characters and breathtaking visual storytelling and iconography
Fun Facts: The movie within the movie is Hello Dolly (Barbra Streisand) and the red haired guy singing to the girl is British legend Michael Crawford who was the original Phantom on Broadway and 1970's comedy sitcom Some Mothers Do Have 'Em as Frank Spencer which I highly recommend if you haven't seen it. The actress who plays his wife in it is Michelle Dotrice is the older sister of Karen Dotrice (Jane Banks in Mary Poppins) and their father Roy Dotrice was Hallyne the Pyromancer in GOT, wow that was six degrees of separation from Wall-E to GOT lol
I was 18 when Wall-e hit theaters, I saw it multiple times I loved it so much, it's one of the few films that still makes me cry rewatching it, the emotional response that little robot evokes is still powerful.
I'm 19 right now and this movie played such a big role in my childhood. I loved this movie to death rewatching it at least 2 times per day on my dvd player. So happy I got to rewatch it with you guys, what a pleasant surprise.
Hey blindwave! So happy you reacted to my fav Pixar movie. It’s so emotional almost without a single piece of dialogue. Also don’t know if you guys remember but there’s a new volume of RWBY that just came out and a crossover between the Justice League movie that just came out.
Regarding the timing of "We have to go back," the season 3 finale of Lost aired on May 2007. WALL·E was released June 2008. So while Lost aired first, I don't know if it would have been enough time before for this movie to have that line as a reference since the production would have taken so long and voices are usually recorded early in that process.
So sad they didn't look up the fact of how all the staff working on the movie had to watch a different silent film for every day leading up to and during making WALL-E
It sucks you guys didn't seem to watch it with subtitles on. Because it actually does add something to the robots dialogue. For example at 34:38 he actually says "pathetic" and you can really only tell with the subtitles on.
This is my favorite Pixar, Disney, and animation movie of all time. Saw this in theaters as a kid, fell in love with WALL-E. Got to treat the Earth better✌🏼
Too anyone curious, in the Movie Wall-E became sentient by a twist of fate. He was struck by lightning while working, the lightning strike fried something inside of him. And he’s been sentient ever since.
They need to react to every Pixar movie they haven’t seen yet. I remember seeing Wall.E at my local theatre, it was really good and its up there one of my favourite Pixar movies
I go here because I just rewatched Wall-E, two things stood for me: 1. It's a hella beautiful animation for a 2008 film 2. It's a movie about a rebellion (the main villain is someone who follows order blindly despite the context of the instruction is no longer relevant, there are many symbolism about stay in a lane and crossing that line, rogue robots are our heroes, those "directive" conversation, etc)
Fun fact this was the first Pixar movie that I saw in theatre when I was a kid. I was 11 when I watch this back in 2008. I remember bringing a kitkat chocolate when entering the room. I remember it just like it was yesterday. Time sure does fly😢

I saw this in high school in theaters. Coming out, you could see everyone hesitating before putting stuff in the garbage
I just love how such a tiny robot made so many people and robots fall in love with him, including the audience
I love what this movie was able to do without much dialogue. One of my favorite Pixar movies.
God I haven't seen this movie since I was a child. I've gained a new love for this movie. Always will be the best Pixar film IMO.
I saw this movie in theaters alone when I was younger and I clearly remember crying when Eve was desperately trying to put Wall-E back together. I looked around to see if anyone was watching me, but that is my memory from watching this movie. SO good.
I wish they'd react to Burn-E right after this. That short film works so well with Wall-E when you watch it right after it
AUTO's role in the movie is a matter of debate.
I love how Sigourney Weaver is the voice of the ship's AI.
35:59 Actually the Lost season 3 finale (when Jack first pleaded to Kate "We have to go back!") predated this movie by 1 year!
I loved Wall-E growing up
WALL-E is just a classic movie and in my opinion I think it's a true masterpiece
This will always be an incredible watch. Very emotional, especially when you get to watch it with that special someone in your life.
Holy crap! I saw this movie five times in the theater, the most I’ve ever gone for any movie, and I also wrote my first and only fan letter to Andrew Stanton telling him how wonderful I thought it was (never got a response). I love this movie.
Wall-E is still one of my all time favorite animated movies, it’s just incredible

It feels like a fever dream at this point because I was 5 but I saw Wall-E in theatres too.
Wall-E is one of the cutest animated characters ever created 🥰🥰
Fun fact: This is the only Pixar movie that live-action humans showed.
This was THE movie I had on loop when I was a kid. Still one of my favorites to this day
How is a robot with binoculars for a head more emotive and relatable than every live action disney remake Protagonist?
This is my childhood movie! I used to watch this everyday with my brother I can't help but have a stupid grin on my face the whole time during the film
Great message in this film. Don’t lose faith in yourself and also we MUST take care of our planet
The script for this movie actually gives some dialogue to WALL-E and EVEs robot sounds. It’s really cool and I suggest a read.
I still watch this with my kids...
Never gets old.
This movie i saw in the cinema. Just me and my mom. Loved it!
Nowadays i cant stop crying. Best pixar movie ever
The fact that this movie made me laugh so much as a kid with no dialogue is impressive. When Eva shows up to earth , her and wall e made me laugh constantly lol
One really cool thing they did was when the dvd released the case was all cardboard and compostable. No plastic
With us, the movie has the subtitle the last one cleans up the earth. -
I don't know what's more beautiful: the movie Wall-E, or watching Calvin watch Wall-E.
My entire family thought a steering wheel staging a mutiny was hilarious
Love how into this Eric is especially 😂 such a charming movie! And the way they give Wall-E such clear emotions with so little is awesome
So happy you guys reacted to this! One of my favourite movies of all time, and Pixar's magnum opus
I love rewatching my favorite childhood films with these guys, makes me feel so warm and fuzzy inside. In a way, I feel like these guys are a father figure to me
I appreciate the mentions of Short Circuit, it was such a fun movie that I don't hear about much.
The Pixar Theory connects every Pixar Movie into one time line, and it suggests the plant from Wall-E grows up to be the tree in A Bug's Life.
That timing when the captain said mutiny and then a motorcycle went by
i just love how walle sees the plant and knows what to do with it. he carefully re plants it into the boot without harming it
I love Mo he’s just the best 😂
Since I was little I always cared about recycling and clean energy, and absolutely fell in love with this film. One of my favorites
Yes my daughter loved this film so much. I think it’s why she is now an environmental engineer
The rain in the background towards the end of the movie was genuinely lovely to listen to
This is my favorite Pixar, Disney, and animation movie of all time. Saw this in theaters as a kid, fell in love with WALL-E. Got to treat the Earth better✌🏼
I forgot how much I love their love story, it's just so cute
Too anyone curious, in the Movie Wall-E became sentient by a twist of fate. He was struck by lightning while working, the lightning strike fried something inside of him. And he’s been sentient ever since.
What a cute and great movies !! One of my favorite pixar, with Up. And also, it is cool to see nice robots with the humans.
They need to react to every Pixar movie they haven’t seen yet. I remember seeing Wall.E at my local theatre, it was really good and its up there one of my favourite Pixar movies
At least 3 of them have kids (I think?).
There might not be much Disney or Pixar content they haven't already seen.
This move I believe is one of the funniest Pixar have ever made. Goofy robot schenanigans just make me love so much
WALL-E bringing Eve home was the original "Behold: my stuff!"
I go here because I just rewatched Wall-E, two things stood for me:
1. It's a hella beautiful animation for a 2008 film
2. It's a movie about a rebellion (the main villain is someone who follows order blindly despite the context of the instruction is no longer relevant, there are many symbolism about stay in a lane and crossing that line, rogue robots are our heroes, those "directive" conversation, etc)
A movie that tells a story with such little words spoken. Pixar at its finest Era.
Fun fact this was the first Pixar movie that I saw in theatre when I was a kid. I was 11 when I watch this back in 2008. I remember bringing a kitkat chocolate when entering the room. I remember it just like it was yesterday. Time sure does fly😢
