    Easy to miss, but its one of my favorite little parts of the film for its long term optimism.

    Probably the best way I have ever heard EVE (and her VERY 'short fuse') described!
    And yeah, this movie just gets you in "the feels".

    The movie Wall E was watching is Hello Dolly. The music they played when the Captain stood up (By Richard Strauss) was used in the moive 2001: A Space Odyssey AND the red-dot eye of the Auto Pilot was the same as the eye of the (evil) computer HAL in that film. Both of those movies are worth watching some time.

      And the computer onboard the Axiom is voiced by Sigourney Weaver, who has spent a large part of her acting career in space (Alien films, Galaxy Quest, Avatar, etc)

    • @mevb

      The reason Andrew Stanton included Hello Dolly was because he played Barnaby Tucker in the hich school play of the musical and he really liked Put on YouR Sunday Clothes and It Takes A Moment. Originally, he wanted to use 30s Swing Music but he saw The Triplets of Belleville (which was actaully competing against Finding Nemo during the award seasons) which was begun with that kind of music and since it also had minimal dialouge like WALL-E, Stanton didn't want to think he plaguierased The Triplets of Bellville, so he choose instead Hello Dolly. Because of including the clips from Hello Dolly, it lead to decision to that all the clips of humans in the past were real humans to be shot agaainst blue screen rather being CG characters and another reason was that it would be more impactful when the humans had evolved into "big babies" instead of having the cartoonish Pixar humans they had in other movies, like Toy Story, Monsters, Inc. Ratatouille, etc.

    I have two thoughts:
    WALL-E stands for Waste Allocated Load Lifter - Earth Class. I think it's a greatly missed opportunity that the big ones on the ship (Axiom Class) weren't called WALL-S (Wallace), for Starship Class.
    If you enjoyed the music that WALL-E listened to, definitely watch the source movie, Hello Dolly. It's a great feel-good movie, with lots of fun numbers.

    This is my second-favorite Disney/Pixar/Dreamworks animated movie (my favorite being "Megamind"). I just find it impressive that they manage to give all these little robots so much personality and create such a cute and wholesome dynamic between them with so little dialogue. It's really amazing. And you kept my very favorite part in the UA-cam edit. I laugh every time when Wall-E puts a dirty tread print on Mo's face. Poor Mo spends half the movie just cleaning up Wall-E's trail. I'm glad you reacted to this one. "Wall-E," even an edited version, always brightens my day. ✌🤓

    Hi, Kayly! Such a treat to watch your reaction to this amazing movie! I loved to see your support of Wall-E and Eve as a couple, and the development of their relationship. It was indeed adorable to see them come together, and inspiring to watch the Captain of the Axiom become a true leader.
    I appreciate how difficult it is to zero in on an actual 'villain' in this story. AUTO is the closest thing to an antagonist, but even then his 'villainous' behaviour (blindly following a 700-year-old directive to the letter) is motivated by his programmed obedience and his determination to ensure humanity survives.
    As for BnL, its greed is doubtless a major factor in Earth's problems, but I don't think of CEO Forthright as a full-on villain. Rather, I see him as someone who genuinely wanted to fix things, but despair at his failure to do so took over, and he resorted to the simplest tactics he could think of -- deception and keeping everyone in space. Forthright's decision to take the easy way out and cover up his failure is what drives the conflict in the movie.
    This lack of a clear 'villain' character, and the brilliant storytelling early on, make this one of my favourite Pixar tales.

    • @WisteriaDrake
      @WisteriaDrake 4 місяці тому +1

      The villain in the story is complacency. Instead of fixing Earth early on when the warning signs first appeared, humanity was complacent and ignored the signs. When Earth became uninhabitable, rather than fix it, they took the easy route and stayed in space. The humans aboard the Axiom spend their entire lives in their chairs, staring at screens, completely complacent until Wall-E changes things. Auto isn't evil, he's just complacent and wants to obey the orders from the highest ranking officer, which was the president of BnL.
      Honestly, if you think about it, Auto became the antagonist precisely because he was programmed to be loyal. Loyal to a fault, unable to think for himself or act beyond his programming. His two orders are to steer the ship and prevent it from going back to Earth. Wall-E's orders were to clean the Earth, and the fact that he's the last of his line showed that the rest cleaned until they broke down. Whether due to a bug or whatever, Wall-E learned past his directive and became curious. He's not complacent, he wants to learn ever more about the world.

    This film contains some of my favorite film scores of all time, specifically the scene where Wall-E and Eva are flying around space. I haven't been to Disneyland in years, but when the Wall-E score came up during World of Color at California Adventure, it always made me really emotional to hear it. I also love the end credits music. I would put Wall-E in my top 3 of Pixar movies easily.

    WALL-E, M-O and most of the male robots were voiced by Ben Burtt, the sound effects guy from Star Wars and Indiana Jones, who did sounds for R2-D2, the lightsabers, the sounds of the X-Wing and TIE Fighters, the blaster sounds, Darth Vader's breathing, the landspeeder, etc. He also did the sound design of WALL-E and he was brought in early in production as Andrew Stanton wanted to make it a "silent movie" (though it's really minimalistic dialouge for most of the robots, except for AUTO who's the most vocal, being done through the text-to-speech program MacinTalk) and wanted to put big emphesis on the sound effects.

    Great reaction! I don’t think people talk about this movie enough, I personally have it as my favorite Pixar film
    Wall-E in many ways is a storytellers dream, given the fact that the robots speak no more than a few words, and yet you can feel and interpret everything that they think and feel. I feel if anyone should get into storytelling or animation, Wall-E is one of the first films they should go off of, as it shows just how important music and body language can be for characters. I say the same for Wallace and Gromit. Gromit does not have a mouth, yet you can tell everything he’s thinking and feeling at every point in the cartoon. Sometimes less words is better, and the fact that Wall-E can portray a better story than most without saying many actual words, it just shows how incredibly talented the writers were, and just how much love was put in this film

    They can actually make a Wall-E 2. In the beginning of the movie, it is stated that many Starliner's were taking off every day according to the billboard ads that Wall-E passed by. The Axiom was the jewel of the fleet. So where is the rest of the fleet? So, for a Wall-E 2 scenario...I would imagine an adventure of Eve (Eva), Wall-E and the Captain trying to contact the rest of the fleet and bring them to Earth. Also, side note: The big Wall-Es on the axiom are not earth class. They are Wall-A (Astral class) Because of a fleet existing, they cannot be designated as "Axiom Class" based on one ship because each ship would have its own name. Now the "defective" robots on the axiom are a result of A.I. Self-awareness. If you paid attention... MO was trying to fulfill his objective in cleaning. He broke his original programming and jumped the designated flow line to complete his mission. This is how Wall-E developed his own personality and collected objects back home. Because of his learning, he survived while all the other "Unaware" Wall-E robots came to an end. This is the reason why the rogue robots hailed Wall-E as their leader. So, they are not defective, they are expressing their own personality. So, imagine coming back to Earth and having possibilities to get in touch with the rest of the fleet and bring them back to help clean and care for the Earth. I think it would be cute if Wall-E and Eve (Eva) make a way to make a child robot. (I only thought of this because of the 1987 movie "Batteries not Included")

    • @22Tesla
      @22Tesla 10 місяців тому

      Very true, but Wall-E is a bit different from the other robots, I feel. He's got an Ai that's 700 years in the making, while the other robots on the Axiom had it programmed in, or at least have a bit of personality since we see Mo and Eve have bits of character while they still do their perform their directives primarily, that personality is hidden or overlooked so long as they do their job. Of course, the "defective" robots were probably following their emerging personality too far which was what led them to being defective as they stopped following their directive entirely.
      Wall-e is kind of a balance between them; he follows his directive, but it doesn't smother his personality as he works and plays when we see how he starts his day. In a way he is the leader as he's got a fully realized personality that he's developed and yet can put it aside to function in his chosen role. Of course he does go off this balance once he becomes infatuated with Eve because he's been alone with his pet roach all this time. Finally someone to talk to, and she stands out completely from the dirty brown wasteland he's called home.

    • @gurvmlk
      @gurvmlk 4 місяці тому

      It would beg the question though of if the rest of the fleet even still exists. After all, they were only built to be out in space for five years. So it's possible that the Axiom's exceptional design is what allowed it to sustain humanity for 700, whereas the other ships may not have been capable of that same longevity.

    Not only great, but a new plateau in animation
    I can't say enough about how good this movie, that you probably haven't read, so I'm going to keep this short.
    This is the best thing out there in theater's right now, and might just be the best animated film of all time, whether you believe that or not, is your own opinion, but what Pixar has done here, can put companies like Dreamworks, Sony, and Blue sky to shame.
    Wall E also may go down as the most lovable character ever to grace the movie screen, I praise Ben Burtt and Andrew Stanton, and the people at Pixar for what they did, and will continue to do.
    This is why Pixar is the top studio in the world.

    23:27 You're sort of right, but probably not in the way you think. In nearly all examples in fiction, robot uprisings happen because of an AI going rogue. Acting outside the perimeters already set by its programming, but that's not what happened in this movie. Auto was just following its last command. It never ''stopped listening''.

    😎👍 If it's of interest, the musical that Wall-E is obsessed with is "Hello Dolly," the 1969 big screen adaptation of the 1964 hit Broadway production. If you're into musicals, it's actually a pretty good movie in it's own right. Trivia: When this movie was first released, the Disney corporation was not yet the owner of "Hello Dolly," but it is now. A couple of years ago, Disney purchased 20th Century Fox, and now has all the rights to their back catalog. 🤖 You mentioned at the beginning that you are on a "Disney/Pixar Journey" and at the end, you mentioned that you've seen "Finding Nemo." I did a search of your channel, but couldn't find any other animated films, so I don't know which other ones you've watched yet. There are a lot of good ones from Disney/Pixar. "A Bug's Life" (1998), "Monsters Inc." (2001), "The Incredibles" (2004), "Meet The Robinsons" (2007), "Ratatouille" (2007), "Bolt" (2008) and those are just some from the company's first decade. I really enjoy your reactions.

    Like What The F*ck?! It's like after years of being on that ship, there minds just refer back to being infants Again?! If that's actually how it happened, I can't even imagine what the *Teenagers* (Ages 13-17) would've look and acted like in that Movie!!
    (I loved The Movie, By The Way)

    Funny you should compare the movie's score with Finding Nemo, as not only is it directed by Adrew Stanton who did Nemo, the music was done by Thomas Newman who also did Nemo's music.

    Miss K. are you familiar the the Pixar's most used Easter Egg" It's in I believe all, if not most of their films. It shows up here at 15:07 and again at 21:37 . It's the code A113. A113 (pronounced A-One-Thirteen) is the classroom number used by character animation students at the California Institute of the Arts.

    Your ability to be adorable knows no bounds. Yet another oh-so-charming reaction for Wall-E. Between the greatness of this classic and the beyond greatness of #1 super reactor of all time: Kaylyptic- (cue superhero music) it's a formula for pure magic! Even on the worst of days, just a glimpse of your delightful expressions and angelic face... and relaxing voice...transports your followahs into a state of pure bliss! You have the power to turn frowns upside down with your enchanting charm. Can't wait for your next one -- well, as long as it's not Reacher- 😁which I'll still give a like- but still haven't seen the show. Hopefully, you'll be back to the MCU. Regardless, I'll be there. You're pretty amazing. OH! And you asked what I'd love for you to react to...my favorite reactions are to Back to the Future trilogy AND the Breaking Bad Universe :) (If you haven't seen those ..which you probably have). Also- Stranger Things is typically a reaction that catches my attention too. But REGARDLESS of what you watch, I'm a supporter (as you know) :)

      This is the sweetest, thank you so much for your support, always! 😃 My next upload will be an MCU one. I’m super excited for everyone to join me for Thor: The Dark World :) I definitely hope to see you there! I have Back to The Future on my list (although the first one will be a rewatch for me. I haven’t seen the 2nd or the 3rd) and I also haven’t seen any Breaking Bad!

    This movie is absolutely BRILLIANT...yes, it's a cute movie about a little robot in love. This is truth. But it speaks to the Human condition on top of it, very subtly...glaringly, in between.
