Finally! Someone who uses normal language instead of computer language to help. You have me as a subscriber as you are discussing asyou are actually doing it. Thamk you so very much and keep up the good work.
Thanks for checking out the video and subscribing!
Dude!! I love how simple you keep it!! Keep ‘em comin Brotha!!! 👏👊👏
Will do James! 🤘🤘🤘
Thanks so very much Dan for your invaluable help !! You’ve really helped me get up and running in one weekend !! Last Thursday a Tascam Model 12 arrived and I had to do a ‘Crash Course’ in how to use it and how to test its various features. One feature is that it is a ‘USB Interface’, which functions very much like your Focusrite. But I didn’t have a DAW installed in my Dell Laptop (PC) to test it out with. So then I came across your video, which inspired me to try out Cakewalk By BandLab, following your installation instructions. So now I had a second challenging ‘Crash Course’ to contend with in a single weekend !! Again you came to my rescue with this second Tutorial !! I was able to record some Drums, Rhodes Wurlitzer and a Cello in Cakewalk, to test whether the output signals would indeed turn up on the Tascam Model 12 Input Channels via USB. To my surprise and delight, it all worked out fine, with the Drums assigned to Tascam Channels 1&2, the Wurlitzer on Channels 3&4 and the Cello on 7&8. Very Cool !! But I didn’t hit the sack ‘til around 8 o’clock in the morning. No dinner last night .... ha ha !! Many Thanks again Dan !!
Thank you for making this tutorials of such great quality and in a entretaining way!
All the other tutorials are so boring that my brain just does not computes the information being transmitted.
This is great! Keep it up! I am sure this playlist will be number 1 in short time!
Thanks for checking out the video! I'll have more Cakewalk videos coming soon. 👍

Very simply and effectively explained! Loved it!
I'm glad you found it helpful. 🙏
Thanks for teaching us how to do this so simply! A great teaching video!
Glad it was helpful!
You're videos are the most helpful I've found for beginners. Thank you! Also for my 2015 laptop the only driver setup I can use is MME 32 bit. It was very confusing to figure out what was going on until I found a forum about it. So for anyone else who can't see your devices on an older computer you might want to try MME driver mode.
I'm glad you found the videos helpful! 🤘🤘🤘
Thanks! Was wondering how and this helped. :)
Glad I could help! 👍
Excellent presentation, thank you !
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks man! :D It was really helpful
Thanks for checking out the video and glad I could help! 👍

No problem man! 👍🤘
Good pace. Clear voice, great sound. The only thing that may be improved is the actual screen recording, but I know that that's always been a pain for me making tuts. If anyone can suggest a clear sharp free screen recorder I'd appreciate it
Cool video.... Nice for beginners for sure... Keep banging them out...👍
Thanks man and will do. 👍
Thanks Man!!
No problem! 👍
Helpful, thanks
I'm glad it helped you out. 👍
Thanks for these Cakewalk tutorials. A great software!
No problem! I got a new one coming out tomorrow. 👍
Goldilocks moment man....some tuts are too fast....some are too slow...yours are just right and very clear! Thanks!
Haha, I'm glad you found it helpful Tim.
Thank you. :-)
No problem! 👍
Dan, excellent video with a superb pedagogical approach like the rest you have in your channel. I've been using Cakewalk for more than a year and I feel confident in this DAW. However, I have not been able to insert midi input from my Komplete Control keyboard from Native Instruments. Any ideas? I have a TASCAM12 as an audio interface
I've heard of the Komplete Control but don't have any experience with it. It has a USB and not MIDI connection correct? It should just be USB straight to your computer. Does it show up in Cakewalk as a MIDI device?
is it possible to record: a track where im changing the effects continuesly so i can use the track with the changing effects in my song??
U better off paying someone to mix it especially if you wanna take music seriously
Hey, when I select Asio, the only options for playback and record timing masters are "none". Yet, when I select Wasabi shared, theres an option of "Speaker/Microphone (USB Audio CODEC). I am using a behringer 2in 2out, how could I use Asio as audio driver please??
If the interface isn't causing an ASIO option to show up within Cakewalk, you will need to install the third party ASIO4ALL software. It is free. 👍
Just a tip, say your name 'audio sorcerer' more slowly, so that we can hear it clearly and it will stick in the mind.
Auudddiioooo Sorrrcceerrrrr 😜
Thanks for the tutorial.
Whenever I record the Audio seems to be automatically sped up , how can I fix this? Like the instrumental is perfect speed but my voice recording is just fast
I haven't heard of that issue before.
Hi there ~ great video! I do have a question. My mic and Casio keyboard are USB based, as is the pickup for my guitar (Jam Pro Plus), do I still need a separate audio interface to use Cakewalk with these things?
Thanks for checking out the video! You shouldn't need an interface if all your devices are USB.
@@AudioSorcerer Awesome, thanks ~ keep the content coming!! :D

Hey bro. I've been hearing popping and static noises through the audio from my headphones when I'm gonna record on pro tools. How can I prevent that from happening?
You might have to increase your Hardware Buffer size.
@@AudioSorcerer
I have a Focusrite with a 48v box and it's still doing it for some reason when I try to bump up my buffer size.
Okay I fixed it, but it's keep saying "Pro Tools ran out of CPU power. Try de-activating or removing Native plug-ins. (AAE - 9173) "
OOF😂
Awesome tutorials...so my issue is not getting sound in to record all inputs are set to correct channels drivers and all set to correct measures...please help
Hey Keith, I would need more information on what you tried to help. If you haven't already gotten this to work, feel free to respond with what you tried so far. 👍
2:21 for playback timing master and record timing master, all it says is 'none' in the drop-down menu. What do i do?
What is your audio interface? You can try installing ASIO4ALL if your interface isn't showing up. It is free.
I'm new to cakewalk. I want to play electric guitar, dont have interface. Can i use my amp to computer speakers? Thanks!
You'll want to get an audio interface.
Awesome Vid, however I was wondering on which version is better? The basic Version? Or the Advanced Version? Please let me know I would greatly Appreciate it Thanks!!
There is only 1 version of Cakewalk.
@@AudioSorcerer Thanks i have figured it out so far? I'm just trying to now figure out how to install VST'S?
Adding converting instrumentals possible?
Random question. I'm using cakewalk with focusrite as well. When i plug in my bass i can only hear my playing in one ear off my headphones. How can i resolve that?
It's hard to say. I would say first, make sure the input on the track isn't set to stereo. It needs to be mono for your bass.
Which version of Windows would you say is best for Sonar Cakewalk by Bandlab, 10 or 11 ? thanks.
I run it on Windows 11 without any issues.

Thanks so much. I can't say for sure, but it sounds like your I/O isn't set up right. I think I have some stuff in this video here regarding that: ua-cam.com/video/8i2nGk0Rfwg/v-deo.html
Hi so I plugged in my focusrite interface and set the driver mode to ASIO but when I go to the driver settings the playback timing master won’t give me another option besides none and the record timing as well how can I resolve this problem?
Does your computer see your Focusrite as a audio device?
@@AudioSorcerer yes
@@AudioSorcerer it is now saying “There are no audio devices for the current driver model on your system”
Hi sir I need help, when I am recording my guitar parts it also records the drums playback and the metronome. I am using a headphone. TYIA
It sounds like either your internal I/O routing is messed up or your audio interface I/O routing isn't right. You should look into those.
How do you get actual audio output whilst you are recording your guitar part? I've been struggling with this for 2 days now. I noticed there's no actual qudio on the guitar until after you've recorded and are playing it back
If you enable the inputing monitoring button on the track, can you hear the guitar while not recording?
@@AudioSorcerer Yep many thanks for that. 👍
hey, how did you get truepianos by cakewalk? Mine only shows SI-electric piano :(((
also i noticed you have way more virtual instruments than me even though i'm pretty sure i installed everything correctly, could you help?
I had the paid version of Cakewalk when it was Sonar so I think my instruments carried over when BandLab bought them.
@@AudioSorcerer woah, okay! thanks!
Ok. Somehow when I record more than one track What I record goes on all the tracks. So like when I record track one. And then track two. What I already record on track one is also going on track two. So like if I did 5 tracks track one having drums. The drums are recording on all tracks . Like 5 tracks playing drums. Track bleeding I think it is called what am I doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
What are you using for your audio interface? Are you selecting the proper I/O for each track?
@@AudioSorcerer I’m using a yourkville mixer connecting to the computer by USB . I first load a audio file that I create using bandlab Then try to add guitar and vocals to separate tracks. Everything I record is going to all the tracks.
Hey there, so I'm trying to record vocals. And for some reason behind the vocal track, the instrumental is getting recorded as well. This is not from bleed, i unplugged my headphones and it's still doing it😢
It sounds like your internal routing is out of whack. It could be within your audio interface or within Cakewalk, there's no way for me to tell.
I downloaded Cake Walk last night (at least I think I did). The software I have for Cakewalk seems to be a cloud based software. For instance, when following your video, when I click EDIT, I only have two choices. They are "Cycle" and "Slice At Playhead". There is no Preferences or anything else. Something seems amiss. Also there is a BandLab URL at the top of the page, again seeming like I am using some cloud based software on my browser. The download was only about 50 Megabytes also, which seems really small for a DAW software. Any ideas what's wrong would be appreciated. Thanks.
Phil
It sounds like you have the cloud-based BandLab recording software. In the BandLab assistant application there are multiple tabs. The last tab is where you download Cakewalk.
@@AudioSorcerer Yes correct. You nailed it. Thanks.
Philip
Very nice and clear! Really great tutorial! Unfortunately the recording function doesn't work 😞! Before I try with external instruments, I tried with its own instruments and, as I said, the recording function doesn't work! Any suggestions?
When you play notes on your midi controller, do you see the meter on the track moving?
@@AudioSorcerer already solved the problem! Thanks 👍
@@ishtar2848 Good to hear!
@@AudioSorcerer Hey Audio sorcerer HELP, I can see the meter moving on the track but I can't hear the original sound from my minikorg. Any sugestions?
Hay, the mean problem I'm having is that the audio mic recordings are not recording or getting picked up, Voice Meeter is not allowing any input, do you have any suggestions on how to fix it? Voice Banana Meeter only helps so much as it gets the sound working but my PC has no other options to us anything else for CakeWalk audio assistant. In short, how do I record audio with a headset or mic, and what is the setup for it? It would help a lot if you can explain voice banana Meeter controller to CakeWalk.
I have VoiceMeeter but haven't used it with Cakewalk yet. When I get some time to play with it I'll look at doing a video about it.
@@AudioSorcerer Thank you so much, I look forward to that video.
broo,my cakewalk is not opening when it is closed,it will open only if i restart my computer, can u give me solution for his problem?
Wether midi card is compulsory to install cakewalk

Just curious why cakewalk instead of another DAW? I have nothing against cakewalk. I am just curious in case there is something superior in cakewalk. I don't mind using more than one DAW in case I need a special feature to make a particular song better. FYI: there is no letter s In Bandlab.
Cakewalk is a free flagship DAW. It has no limitations. That's why people like it. Personally, I do all my work in Pro Tools as that's my preferred DAW.
I fw yo hair
Ok lol
I imported an audio that I downloaded from youtube, and when I saved and listened to it, the track is slowed down. What's the problem?
It's a sample rate mismatch.
I never got an asio panel option im using a tascam 2x2 would that make the option different then?
I would think you would have an ASIO option with a Tascam interface but you'd have to read their manual.
@@AudioSorcerer first i was genuinely surprised i got a response i know you have in the comments before i just assumed since the vid was older you wouldnt because most creators i have watched dont so thank for that lol and i figured it out but my next question is I did something somewhere when I was setting everything up via your instructions in this video and now my computer wont play youtube unless I either shut down bandlab completely or restart my whole computer when I try and play your video it loads for a long time and then says "audio renderer error please restart your computer" Im not sure what I did in my software to make the computer malfunction like that I did turn up my sample rate (tascam settings says buffer size) as high as i could go on my tascam would that be part of the problem? thanks and do really enjoy your videos they have been very helpful
@@evansinclair1999 Some interfaces don't allow you to share the driver between a DAW and your computer at the same time. Cakewalk has a work-around for this. Instead of selecting ASIO, select the option WASAPI Shared and then you can share the interface between your computer and Cakewalk. I still recommend having it set to ASIO if you are going to record though. If you are just messing and learning then it doesn't matter.
Can you help me I have a digital piano that is useable as a Midi controller I'm using konkakt to play my piano vsts what im trying to do is record the sound of hybrid keys through cakewalk but I cannot for the life of me work out how to record my pieces live on the audio channel with the kontakt vst selected.
for some reason my controller just stops working as soon as I select kontakt on FX but yet it works perfectly on the midi channel with kontakt FX selected. my controller works perfectly with its standalone sound on the audio channel as im able to make recordings through it.
If you could help that would be great as I do not know what to do. Thanks!
Hey Kyle, thanks for reaching out. I'm not extremely familiar with Kontakt, but my understanding is that it is a virtual instrument. That means it can only be used on a instrument track regarding your piano. You will record the MIDI notes from your piano and then that would trigger Kontakt to play the samples. If you recorded your piano as an audio track and tried to put Kontakt on, it wouldn't work. Let me know if that answered your question or if I didn't understand it correctly.
@@AudioSorcerer thanks for the quick response yeah that has answered my question kind of. My problem is when I try to record via the midi channel when it plays back the recording is extremely muffled and quiet. I don't know why but I have all my volume parameters set up high everything sounds perfect untill I play back my recording. This is why I thought it needed to be played via the audio channel. But thanks for the tip. If you have any idea why my midi play back is doing this please let me know thanks mate
Hi,do u now how to record just solo on guitar in the same time with added audio Jam Track?
I don't think I'm fully understanding the question. Can you elaborate?
@@AudioSorcerer I would like to record guitar solo with a ready- made background
can you record instruments without a keyboard or anything? and how would you do that
You can use your typing keyboard but it's not that intuitive. Here is a link to some older documentation on how to do it: www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR&language=3&help=Views.51.html
how do i fix the robot sound when i record a audio
It's hard to say without knowing what's causing it. You can try adjusting your buffer size and making it higher.
I clicked ASIO and went to driver settings and my focusrite interface didn’t pop up in the playback or record timing. What do I do?
It should be in there. You can try WASPI Shared.
So my keyboard and my audio interface is setup, and the meter is going up whenever I press my keyboard, yet no sound comes out, what do I have to do to fix it
After you inserted the instrument track, did you go inside the plugin and pick a sound? Sometimes they don't default to anything. Also, make sure the instrument track's output is routed to your master output. Are you able to hear any other audio coming from Cakewalk? (Ex. Audio recorded on an audio track, an audio sample, etc.)
Hi.. how to fix latency on cakewalk?
Turn down your interfaces buffer size.
I like your presentation but what confuses me right now, I had hopes of (an maybe this is old school, analog roots coming out) if I want to record the output of the piano, the actual audio, I thought you would show that. I mean once I’m happy with the midi performance I just feel safer if I “set it” and make an audio track from it. I still am not sure if I can record with the ine track or have to route it through a synth and to an audio track eventually to record audio.
You can bounce your MIDI down to audio within Cakewalk or even freeze the track. There are a couple ways to go about it. That is for another tutorial though. 😋
Would love to see the screencast part in a higher resolution. It's far to grainy.
Thx 4 listening.
Oops. YT has auto-shown it in 360p, while watching it in (now manually selected) 720p is doing fine. So thx again for this great tutorial, that is much appreciated!
You're welcome! 👍
In the preferences, the outputs in the MIDI option doesn't show my earphone.. And because of that the output is played through my digital keyboard itself. How can i make it hear through my earphone?
Please help.
What do you have for an audio interface?
@@AudioSorcerer i directly connected my digital keyboard to my laptop using a USB-MIDI cable.
You need a separate audio interface to playback audio. You can use your computer's built-in audio card but it doesn't work well.
@@AudioSorcerer well... At first i could hear the keys i press on the my dig. Keyboard through the earphone i plugged in. I dont know how,but later both the inputs and outputs were through the keyboard itself.

hello Dan. I'm new to Cakewalk Band Labs. I'm slowly but surely figuring out the quirks of this. I figure out one issue, then another presents itself.............. I finally got my monitors, recording and playback to sound great. I want to record a new track over an existing track, but the recording track is re-recording my previous track. How do I separate a newly recorded track from a previous recorded track? I want to monitor my previously recorded tracks, and simultaneously record a new track without "bleed". How do I do that???
When you click and hold the Record button, a small drop-down menu will appear. In it, there is the option to record "Sound on sound".
If you select this, it will record in addition to what you've previously recorded, rather than re-recording it entirely.
Hey Stephen, sorry for the late reply. What Eckard said above should help you out.

@@AudioSorcerer thanks again. I'll let you know how it goes . Keep up with your impressive videos. Well done and very informative.
@@No_mans_land_ happy Sunday to you. Well, the 'click and hold' doesnt do anything, but I can enable 'sound-on-sound' in the Preferences menu. However, it still is giving me the same problem. I record on track 1 and it plays back fine. I record a separate track on track 2, and it re-records what i played on track 1. Now if I mute track 1, track 2 records and plays back fine, but that defeats the purpose of monitoring while recording. Any help????
Dear brother,
Hello and how are you? I'm male, 48 from Bangladesh. My name is TIPU MILTON BAROI.

All MIDI controllers are different. I recommend reading the user manual of your particular one.
when i record audio through my mic into cakewalk, it comes out sounding chipmunk-ish and sped up...but when i go on regular bandlab it doesnt do that?
Is it a USB mic? Make sure the Cakewalk session is set to record at the same sample rate as the mic. (ex: 44100, 48000, etc)
yeah its usb, and i changed the sample rate to be identical, but that created a new problem lol my audio doesnt shrink and sound chipmunk-ish anymore, now it stays the same file size but just sounds robotic and unclear?

Cakewalk is not a cakewalk for me. Honest thoughts on this DAW??
It has a strong learning curve just like any of the other daws. Once you learn how to use it, you can do everything that you need it to with it.
If i record i dont hear anything... It doesn't record when i play ingame the instrument. I followed all your steps, what to do now?

when i select ASIO its not picking up any of my audio drivers at all is this out of date ?
What audio interface do you have?
@@AudioSorcerer Just using my onboard sound interface on my motherboard, i have my speakers and headset connected i been playing around with this and the option to switch to these do not come up under ASIO but they do when i select MME or WASAPI
ASIO is only for ASIO supported interfaces so you wouldn't use that for your built-in sound card.
@@AudioSorcerer haha makes sense thanks buddy :)
why is it my playback master is only 'None'? and my mixing latency is not working
What are you using for an audio interface?
@@AudioSorcerer cakewalk... I just simply followed your instruction but my options are not the same with u. is it normal that my audio mic is delayed when i open the echo?
If you have a delay you need to turn down your buffer size.
I'm sorry but the first thing I saw was your anime like hair🙇♂️
do you need an audio interface to work with cakewalk?
You don't but you will be limited to what you can do without one.
It says "None" for playback timing master and record timing master
pls help
I have a dell laptop and run windows 7
It's technically not compatible with Windows 7. Also, you need an external audio interface. Using your computer's built-in sound card doesn't work well and sometimes not at all.
@@AudioSorcerer Makes sense, so i guess i should uninstall it.
I can hear the vocals thru my mic, but then the vocals won't record, strange
It sounds like the I/O isn't setup right in Cakewalk or you just don't have the right input selected on the track you're trying to record to.
Bro this software is free or paid?
Please tell me bro.
Free
I can not see anything. 😑 All I'm trying to do is make the damn thing hear me. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
Can you be more specific? What have you tried?
even if you comb your hair nicely or go to the hairdresser it would be great, it looks like Chinese manga 🧑🤣
😉
Beginner? He says "so make sure you have your session open" Thats when Im like What? Great another NOT for beginner tutorial.
