Sacha is doing what Pollard used to do, challenge forwards constantly. Pollard was injured more often than not 2017-2018 but started getting a bit smarter later on. Sacha will get there
I don’t get why Dobbo doesn’t just take the pressure of goal kicking duties off Manie and hand Sacha the tee, at least until he goes off injured in a game, which is starting to look inevitable. Sacha has demonstrated that he’s more consistent, and even if you don’t decide he needs to be a 10, not a 12 (separate discussion), having him take the kicks should ease Manie’s mind and make him even more creative as a playmaker.
@ Odd! Though I suppose that would explain it. It just seems to my mind something that should be in the purview of the head coach or director of rugby.
@ nope even at boks level Rassie has no say, the boys sort it out and it would usually be a question of seniority. See one thing to understand about rugby is players have a high tolerance to pain to they won’t go off unless it’s really serious or the threshold where their performance drops is reached at which point either they will go off themselves or they’ll be replaced by the coach to limit further damage but some players just keep going. Back in the day there was a lot more of that but now days players are a bit smarter and know not to be stubborn, when they start to feel something is off or they just not performing they’ll go off cause else it affects how long it’ll take you to recover… what could be 2 weeks off can easily turn to 2 months off or worse if you keep playing. Someone like Frans Steyn for example wasn’t necessarily the go to for conversions but if you need someone to slot it from 60m then he’s your guy 😂 kicking straight and far doesn’t require much accuracy just requires a bit boot and to not fck it up, kicking from the 5m or outline is as hard as it gets cause it’s pretty far and that angle is a btch so it really depends on how the team decides to sort themselves but at pro level I highly suspect most teams will go by seniority aka you gotta prove yourself. Some shocker of calls from the match. I couldn't understand how stopping a rolling maul illegally where the team would have scored results in a yellow card but no penalty try. I also couldn't understand that although injuries were checked it didn't result in the correct sanction. I am glad JLdP managed to score at the end. Only thought that it wasn't properly referred to in the TMO. Calls going against us, going against them. And several tries chalked off.

Nah, im not having it that Moerat had helped the set piece. He's not a lineout forward. Schickerling is the one who calls the lineout. He is the new signing and suddenly the Stormers lineout had gone from one of the worst in the league to one the best (i think before this weekend it was actually the best)
Malherbe was scrumming inwards, yet the Stormers kept getting the penalty. Ref should have gone to the otherside of the scrum to see what was going on. Definitely no yellow card for Ethan. Mall splintered and he made a legal tackle. Red card for Du Preez any day of the week, plus Sunday. Anyway, to be honest, the Sharks did not deserve the penalty try last week against the Bulls. What you lose in the round abouts, you win in the swings.
One has to wonder how the on field ref and two assistants miss so much. The game gets stopped for long periods by the TV ref, for clear infringements that are clear and obvious to most viewers, but not seen by the ref and assistants in game, like the forward pass on the Sharks try and the illegal clear out by Du Plessis. If the on field refs are so reliant on the TV ref, then they're clearly not good enough. This and not scrums being reset, is the no1 cause of an inferior spectacle. Having been at the game yesterday, I saw how all momentum and intensity was lost, while the ref and assistants took their time reviewing incidents that they shouldn't have missed in the first place.
@paulredelinghuys7790 so we have to all share your opinion correct? And if we don't the you use expletives. We've seen our team drop since URC 1 fact or opinion?
Absolute game of two halves. First one sucked, second was near test level. Well, at least for intensity. The penalty against du plessis for the clearout was rediculous. After that I saw at least another 5 no-arms clear-outs in the game. Manie’s kicking is shocking, but his general game-play… damn. Julius is absolutely one for the future. Future Bok 13. Hooker is not a wing, and is another brilliant 13. Senatla being back and gaining form is brilliant. That Hendrikse try was never gonna be stopped. Galant had his best game this whole season. Stormers missed Dweba at line-out time. Sasha is a great player, but not at 12. All SA teams will only play 6 games between now and the end of the 6N (March 22nd). Three of those will be local derbies, so no traveling. I sincerely hope some players can get extended breaks. At least 2-4 weeks of no rugby. Guys need a break.

Damian Willemse played 12 for two seasons predominantly and rarely got injured. Sacha's misfortune is just another reason to push the narrative, I'd say let him just play 10 and see he goes off again in the first half.
As a stormers fan, this game was fscking trash. Both teams deserved to lose by 30 points. Talk all you want about the ref, but both teams were kak and I feel for the 50k people in the stadium that paid to watch this dumpster fire of a game. Neither flyhalf can kick, 50% of both teams can't catch, some of the stupidest tackles I've seen in real time. I should have rather worked than watch this
Are the gentlemen involved in game just to nice ? If the ref was a male we would have climbed into them, personally. I.e Wayne Barnes had a shocker , Jaco Peyper is blind etc. It's difficult to ref a game when you 6m behind the players. I do not get what world rugby is trying to achieve here.
Im a big stormers fan but my goodness, what a terrible game. SO many mistakes, bad skills, and no game plan, so frustrating to watch. We need better coaches!
Horrible game of rugby. Jeez, the skills or lack thereof were appalling to see. As a Stormer, glad a heap of our players are either leaving or retiring. A massive rebuild is needed. I know a few club rugby teams, perhaps school teams that would have given both the Stormers and the Sharks a run for their money today.
@PeterGarnett007 Try been objective no? There's been no recruitment or serious development of players since we won URC 1. If you think the handling and decision making today was great then let's just agree to disagree. Manie had made a kick in 3 weeks, Herschel can't catch a ball, Gelant can't run straight. All the tries come from moments of brilliance. Nothing lasts forever my man. A new voice and energy is required at some juncture.
@ Okay, have it your way mate but believe me when I say that the current rugby calendar is way overbooked. The fact of the matter is that there were 46 players on the pitch all with burnout/exhaustion. It’s an unsustainable situation made far worse for the players when they read armchair criticism of their efforts from the very people who supposedly support them. Please, give the players a break
@PeterGarnett007 I completely agree with regards to the amount of rugby our players are playing these days. They look shattered, but some of the hands on display were atrocious. I'll throw in the officiating there too. Surely we have some talent in the western cape better than some of the stuff we see on display. Since we won it, we've seen our team continue to drop down the log. Where we were competing for top 2-4, now we praying for top 8. Next up are Leinster and the Bulls. I could see the frustration from Dobbo and his coaching staff at what they were seeing today. We seem to have no precision and struggle to build phases. This has blighted us for a while now. Alas, we both want whats best for the Stormers and the region. Next season we looking at Reinach and Siya to come back. I believe we should rather develop new players. I wouldn't be surprised if we see Dewald Duvenage playing again which is taking us back 10 years.
That most useless fly-half is still the highest point scorer in the history of the URC. His return last year took em from 13th to 5th place quickly after Sacha started the season. This time he did it again. Willemse is the only 10 that can play at 12 and complete a game for two seasons predominantly. I want em to give Sacha the 10 jersey and let him lead the Stormers as general to a URC final and win it like Libbok did..
I loved it of course but some of these guys should be relaxing on the beach instead of playing. They need an off season. Playing for 12 months is not going to be good for us in the long run.

Exciting game and a great review, well done Tim
have another look at the jantjies injury
the poor tackle technique? 100% his own fault that one, but I do feel bad for him, never nice to see players get injuries.
Nothing in it. Hookers arm was tucked to his body at contact.
Both teams were ultra shit, kicking was shocking, ref below standard AGAIN. Too much rugby now. So many injuries this is just worrying.
@johnsmithwinkwink1704 Finally someone who's objective. I concur.
@@rodwellchigome7567Negative AF
Negative AF. You couldn’t do better but here you are as a supporter 😳😂🤣🤣🤯
@paulredelinghuys7790 so we have to all share your opinion correct? And if we don't the you use expletives. We've seen our team drop since URC 1 fact or opinion?
Where is the Republic of Rugby?
They are each individually meant to have 2 months off at some point.
Lots of good points 👍🏽
@@chris5240 good point. I would love to see an international season though. The players might be out for a period, but the season is still continuing. Do they also mentally rest? Genuinely curious.
The SA derbys have always been terribly attrrional to the national cause... Atleast it isn't springboks slogging it out over the entire curry Cup against each other like it used to be 😂
Scoreline flatters the Sharks. The Stormers dominated and had a few tries disallowed
I'm really pleased that someone (you) noticed! ;-) 🥵It was stinking hot out there
Nah, you guys deserved a red card. You are lucky this time. The ref was too scared to disallow the try and give a red. He almost ended Esterhuizen's whole career. Awful. Awful. Awful. He is lucky Esterhuizen's leg didn't lock.
@@chris5240CRAP, his arm was wrapped until he hit the shoulder! WTF else can you tackle and SuperSport didn’t show the rear view again where it was obvious.
At the stadium it was obviously who had the greatest potential and where creating all the plays.
@@chris5240You Sharkies are always so emotional.Stormers probably should have been given a penalty try..nobody in front of the ball carrier but ref says there is other players that can tackle!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I loved it of course but some of these guys should be relaxing on the beach instead of playing. They need an off season. Playing for 12 months is not going to be good for us in the long run.
Sacha at 12 is so pointless now since the boks see him as our next 10. It’s a problem.
For the rest. SA teams just seem like terrible quality.
Malherbe is die baas van scrums
Comment
Sasha should not be playing at 12! Idiot coach! Sasha is very injury prone…
He got injured at 10 as well??
Sacha is too fragile for 12
Damian Willemse played 12 for two seasons predominantly and rarely got injured.
Drop Manie
Im a big stormers fan but my goodness, what a terrible game. SO many mistakes, bad skills, and no game plan, so frustrating to watch. We need better coaches!
Well listen to the coaches and captains as they are aware and trying to address it in an attacking structure.
In your dreams, mate! If you can play better, apply to John Dobson for a job.
So Dobson playing Sascha at centre tying to end his career early? Just because they want to use that useless Skeefskop? Most useless flyhalf in URC
@ jy praat kak. Skeefskop is useless even sy Pa Weet dit.
I loved it of course but some of these guys should be relaxing on the beach instead of playing. They need an off season. Playing for 12 months is not going to be good for us in the long run.
