  • @kadestorm

Damn right on the mark that it sounds great.
The Diavlo has a dark ambience, but also a smooth, articulate and clanky midrange of the Fortin variety along with a gain that remains tight across the dial. All these elements merge together audibly in a recording or live setting to form this low-end grunt, a growling midrange and rumbling high-end, at least when typically run with V30s and captured with an SM57 or SM58. One can also get additional sizzle by really pushing the presence or incorporating an EQ into the chain.
Definitely a unique and even versatile amp, but one that leans heavily on the dark and brutal tones.

I have the MD45 version. Very similar. Definitely not for sizzling highs, but if you dime the presence you can get some really good tones. Throw an EQ in the fx loop and it'll get those highs (along with many other tones). Surprisingly good cleans and nice pedal platform.

It likes it when you cranked the presence (and treble somewhat), that is true!

Every time I've thought about selling this amp I remember that there is simply no other that compares at the price point I got it at($800). Its got such a unique character to it. My only issue with it is that its so good at doing everything that I can't validate getting another amp. It made me really happy to see the BK Aftermaths in action as well as I just installed a set in my own guitar.

@@SonicDriveStudio right on. I've been curious about that redseven box. I just question how much I would use it. I live in the country in my own house. Have my own massive space where I can make all the noise I want. I have an engl 412 pro from 2005 with the original v30's. Sure this is great BUT sometimes i kinda just wanna hear my ampthrough a different cab. But which cab? Do I really wanna spend thousands on all these different t cabs? Or would I enjoy a good reactive load box that I can use much cheaper ir's? I have ir's of my cab. I have 4 different mic options in 7 different positions each and 7 different positions with off axis. So I could also keep my cab in rotation with 3rd party ir's.
My whole point being, I don't know what to do. Lolololol I just wonder, "what if?" I mean there's nothing wrong with my cab. It records well. It works with my all my amps but most importantly my evh el34 100 watt head VERY WELL. What do you think john? Would i get good use out of a reactive load box or just put my money elsewhere since I do get great results already? I mean my music gear shopping list is 10 miles long at this point.

I know this might be a tough question to answer when you have so many great amps in your collection but, does this amp rank in the higher, middle or lower spot in your collection? I just picked one up today mostly based on your demos of this amp so curious to know your thoughts. I think it's a great sounding and uniquely voiced amp and I'm pretty happy it's not as "high gain" as a lot of other modern voiced amps. I also noticed that you don't run your channel volumes very high. How much do you think ,with this amp, it makes a difference running them a little lower. Thanks, man...great riffage!!

I actually played and changed a few different Preamp tubes and Power tubes within 60 days later. Then I realized, I just hate the sound itself. Lol. By now, I couldn't return mine though. My RD100 is still sitting underneath my desk. Lol. I just got so pissed my decision and I just went digital modeler (Fractal FM9). And now...I never looked back. Lol. 🤣
