Whew I’m so glad I’m not the only one who feels daily is hard. I loved it when I was memory keeping but when I got away from daily memory keeping I found the one page a day a lot harder. I couldn’t figure out what I wanted to “waste” space on. It’s why I went back to my bullet journal in a Leuchtturm. The upside is in my bullet journal I can draw the spreads I need or take up as many pages I want in my journal.
That sounds like a lovely, very adaptive system. I do have phases where recording something of my life every day sounds so wonderful, but I had to realize that it’s not realistic, at least not right now.
My journaling system is also similar to yours,i think. I don't like dated book, since I can't journal everyday. But also I like small size notebook, since i can't fill entire page. So i did cut A5 regular notebook half and fill it, how i want. Oderweise journaling turns to a stressful job rather than joyfull time.I think, journals are something that make us happy as well as they take us far from Anxiety of day. Thanks for sharing this ❤
3:02 Soooo know what you mean and I relate! I thought the same thing when I got a hobo cousin to play in. It made it a lot easier. I’ve also made junk journals specifically to do whatever and not fiddle and agonize! Only to love it and love the first spread and not want to “ruin” the rest, and end up fiddling and agonizing anyways. I just want to be free! 🥲🤣 Thank you for posting! I appreciate your thoughts and somewhat scientific, or maybe logical, approach. I relate to that. Also the little passport size with minimal spreads is SO cute. I love your art style!!
Ooo totally relate! I obviously overthink as well but realizing it’s okay to just do whatever and not all journals are to be enshrined and kept forever 😂
@@tortagiallaI’d be hard pressed to find a page I don’t like, too. The best feeling is just a full journal, no matter! So it really doesn’t make sense to fiddle lol. But I catch myself doing it every day!
Ahhh yes, the curse of a pretty first spread :D Some of my most cherished notebooks are ones where I didn't necessarily set out to do something "meaningful", I just filled the pages. And I think it's that honesty that makes them so meaningful and important to me. But yes, it can be hard to let loose sometimes.
It somehow helps me to organize my thoughts and the shape of it almost acts as a journaling prompt, if that makes sense. Always love seeing your journal pages! It's nice that you are getting on so well with you Avec.
I can so relate to this video! I've also had all the same feelings you've mentioned with journaling and the self-imposed pressures. I'm so glad you experimented with columns so we could get your feedback! I've seen this around UA-cam a lot and think it looks so nice, but I wasn't sure if it would work for me. This gives me some motivation to try it out! Thanks Maike!❤
Thank you Aileen for your thoughtful comment! Let me know if you give columns a try and how they work for you. I find it super fascinating to see how journaling changes if you give yourself "boxes" to think and journal in. On paper that seems like something that should hinder the flow of thoughts, but so far, in my experience, it has helped me give shape to my thoughts.
I love the columns. My brain works that way as well. I can also relate to romanticizing my journals. I'm also in love with your illustrations ❤ thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Thank you so much for your kind comments! It's very interesting to see how differently I approach my pages just simply because I divide it down the middle. But something about a predetermined shape helps me organize my thoughts.
I definitely go back and forth regarding dated versus blank… depends how I’m feeling! So I guess my ‘solution’ is to have multiple different notebooks to choose from 😅🫠 Your two column format looks very nice and seems flexible as well. Makes me think of Take a note but of course that is dated and too structured perhaps! And your little doodle notebook looks so cool too! 😍 so clever to have the template underneath as a guide. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for your kind comment! And having multiple different notebooks to choose from seems like a valid solution to me ;) I think I'm starting to realize that I am not a one-book girlie either, as much as I would like to be that. Ah yes the Take A Note planners. They do look really nice, I like their design quite a bit. They tend to sell out, don't they? I wish certain items like that were easier to pick up throughout the year. I wouldn't want to commit to that right now.
Love your pages alot! I love the idea of one book but I wish wish I could be that person but I cannot 😂😂 I do have my main journal in hobonichi a5 so other notebooks are kind of just for fun. Xx❤

Yes exactly! There's no need to give yourself homework :)

I’m so happy you have found notebook that’s working for you. I love creating sections on my cousin daily pages, makes it feel less overwhelming ❤

I love your journal layouts and drawing style ❤ Good luck with your new journal

@@MaikeOatley Yes, it's pretty amazing how we haven't finished the year, but we have to decide what we want to use next year already!
Love this 😍
Thank you :) Glad you enjoyed it!

Well notebooks are so very fun, arent they. And with so many beautiful options, we really get to play in a very well-stocked playground :)
