I absolutely LOVE your swatching cover, and the swatching you did inside your notebook. I love the color palettes you use. Wonderful and so pleasing. ❣
This is so helpful - thank you! This is definitely going on my list for when I get a new sketchbook. I absolutely love the landscapes with the little black cats in them and have looked at them quite a bit for inspiration. I would never have guessed you’d done them on anything other than watercolor paper!
I'm so glad to hear that this video was helpful Karyn! And thank you for your kind words. I feel like I've only recently become interested in painting and drawing little landscapes, so there's a lot to explore still. But of course we gotta have a cat in there somewhere ;)
This was really helpful, thank you. I hope to make my journalling more of a multimedia process so want to avoid as much bleed/show through as possible, without straying from my beloved MD paper, so the Thick probably the answer.
omg i love your art style! i've nearly finished my current sketchbook and didn't know what kind to get next since i love drawing with fountain pen but also enjoy watercolour - seems perfect!
I love the regular Midori MD notebooks and have been doing small amounts of drawing and painting in them for years, but this might be a complete game changer for me! I’m definitely going to give it a go! Thanks for sharing about how it takes watercolor and tombow markers!
@@MaikeOatley I bought it for the same reasons you did- I thought I needed thicker paper bc of ghosting. So I was very excited to find this; But now that it's here I have second thoughts, and I'm thinking do I really need such thick paper? It feels a little too precious. I was happy to see that you have been using yours freely, I hope I can start using mine today it came yesterday.
Hi!😊 I found this to be a really interesting video! I really like how you decorated the cover with watercolor swatches, I’m inspired to try something similar, that’s really pretty!🥰 I admire and like your art style very much! It’s very pretty. To me, when you were showing how the paper seems to take watercolor differently, it looked like the watercolor sits on the thick paper more than it soaks in to the paper (I hope that makes sense😅). This is a very beautiful notebook and I enjoyed hearing your thoughts and experience with it! Thank you so much!!❤
Thank you so much Rachel, I really appreciate your kind words! Swatches are always so satisfying to look at, aren't they. And yes, I totally agree with your observation that it looks like the watercolor sits on the thick paper, rather than soaking in. It's very interesting.
Very interesting the points you brought up. I literally just discovered the thick notebook as well - I didn’t know about it before and if you have a regular MD notebook, the flyleaf first thicker page is actually the thick paper, so you can try it out 😅 I don’t need another sketchbook right now but this is on my list to try!
Literally the day before I found out about this notebook I was thinking to myself how wonderful it would be if Midori made a notebook with slightly thicker paper :D So far I haven't really seen a lot of people talk about it, which I find surprising.
Ooh, a quick question: If I was to use washi tape around the edges to create a frame around a painting, and then peel away, do you think it would peel cleanly from the page?
So far i have found that it holds up well to erasing. No paper tears so far. But I don't have an electric erasers, so I can't speak to that with certainty, but I would assume that it would hold up to an electric eraser.

Aw, thank you! That's encouraging to hear ☺️ color mixing and swatching is such a calming thing to do. Thank you for watching ☺️
So awesome of them to release this cause I love their stuff and have new watercolors and gouache 😎 Thanks for reviewing this!
Yes I appreciate so much that Midori keeps adding to their notebook lineup. Their designs and decisions always seem very thoughtful.

That paper is very impressive, and your watercoloring is so satisfying to me! Beautiful colors.
Thank you Terri for your kind words, really appreciate you :) The paper holds up so well it's almost a magic trick.
What a great little notebook/sketchbook! Really impressed. Thank you for showing us. And of course, wonderful to see your lovely drawings 😊
It's a workhorse! Thank you, Autumn for watching and your kind words :)

You're welcome :) Glad this was helpful.
oh I happen to have this one in the mail right now! Cool to see your review!
Oh cool! I hope you'll enjoy creating in it! What media are you planning on using in yours?

This is exciting news, I love midori paper!
It is! I love that they keep making these very useful additions to their notebook lineup! Thank you for watching!
Thanks for sharing! Super helpful. Would also be curious to know how the cotton paper holds up with watercolor
Glad this was helpful! The cotton paper does well with watercolor. I'd say it performs the same as regular Midori paper.
I love your style and your choice of colors ❤
Thank you, that's so kind of you to say :)

I would say yes, I think it would peel of neatly, though I haven't tried it yet. I'll do a test.
cute drawing style :)
Thank you :)
I really want the square format thick paper for gouache
Oh yes that sounds like a fun set up! I haven't tried gouache on this paper yet, but I could see how that could be quite enjoyable.
I want to use it for pencil drawing. Is it durable in heavy erasing? with electric eraser?
