      Done. Hope your soapbox grows taller and taller, if you keep doing videos on important stuff like this.
      Edit: get some stuff in your room to dampen your sound. You can use cheap stuff, like polystyrene, foam from 2nd hand things, a matrass, carpet etc. It's easy to find how you can minimally soundproof your room for cheap. It will greatly enhance our listening experience.

      @DeltaNovum - Thanks a lot for the support! Appreciate it. About the sound, you're totally right, I should work on it. So far I have been focused on preparing scripts and improving my video editing, but sound is something that I have to improve soon. I will do my best, but it might take a while since I already have the next 5-6 videos recorded the same way haha.

      @@PigeonsSoapbox Those things are more important. I thought I'd just give you a tip that might improve the quality of your content for relatively little work. Even putting a mattress up outside of the camera's view might improve the hollow sound. Either way great content 👍!

      I will experiment a bit with those options! Hopefully it will improve. Thanks a lot for the advice!

    Heard about this from different discussions here and there, but NONE of them hit me as hard as this video. The realization is chilling, sitting here in my cotton pants which are getting more uncomfortable by the second. You definitely put things into perspective with this one. Amazing work!

      The fact that this is happening has been on the media for a while but I think we still don't fully realise. I will try to make more videos about this topic. Thanks for watching!

    A perfect way to survive a heat wave day in front of the fan catching up o your videos. I work at a thrift store for a charity and I haven't bought new clothes in years. We get brand new clothes with tag still on, people are so addicted to fast fashion. And they don't ad don't care about who suffers; forced labor in Xinjiang, mountainous dump piles of discarded clothes in Ghana, sweat shop workers in Bangladesh.

    • @PigeonsSoapbox

      Exactly! Second-hand clothes are really the best solution to avoid the social and environmental impacts of the textiles sector. Even better if it comes from a non-profit store. Thanks for your kind words - glad you liked the videos!

    It's really problematic. I try to buy as much 2nd hand, as I can. And when I have to buy new (bedding for example), I look for 100% cotton products at the least. However, it has become very difficult to find anything that's a 100% cotton in recent years :(.

    • @PigeonsSoapbox
      @PigeonsSoapbox  2 місяці тому +3

      Exactly, I think that 2nd hand is just the best option when you need something. And it's one of the few actions that have a better social and environmental impact that are also significantly cheaper than the alternative, so it's a win-win. But of course, it's not always possible. And as you say, the rise of "polycotton" and of clothes made with fossil fuels more generally is insane. It's hard to find 100% cotton.

      @@PigeonsSoapbox Cotton is just as bad environmentally! Hemp or bamboo is much better I think. I *know* that hemp is and it needs no chemical fertilizers or pesticides, is a carbon sink and every part of the plant is used. From lumber to clothing, oil and fuel, there are too many uses to list.

      Cotton is worse in terms of water use and chemicals, but if you grow it in regions that are not in a situation of water stress, and in a more organic way, I think it's better than polyester. But the devil is in the details, always.

      @@PigeonsSoapbox Well you have a point, *but* how many places are left where that can be done? Also, hemp cloth is stronger, yet softens more with each washing, and lasts longer and can be woven into almost any type of fabric. In lumber, the longer the fiber the stronger the board, so hemp far exceeds wood in strength *and* it does not rot. but that's only two examples. Look into it, you may find that you won't have such a love of cotton if you do.

      Haha I wouldn't say I have a love of cotton either. I will look into it, you make some interesting points there. Maybe I learn something new and might end up making a video about it! @tomfromoz8527
