I love mine. I was skeptical as to the value of it, but after a ton of run and gun shooting with it I’m with you, Mark. Relieves the biceps a lot. I’ve ended up packing it either in my checked luggage or in another larger case.
Mark, so great to see this video ..this topic. Had this video in my 'watch later' only watch it just now (yes late), but the funny thing is that I published a video about this topic last Monday ..but only mine is about the DIY version of it. Just found the timing is awesome, since we both we're testing this saddle bag around the same time (my video edit was delayed though). I totally agree with you, of course my DIY has to do with the size of my used rig and there is one advantage over the SAKK. Thanks for your input and experience, gonna try choking mine too ;)
I just came across one for the first time at a film expo a few months ago. The cinematographer was showing how he uses it, and until this video, I complete forgot about it! I love filming handheld and for sure need more stability cause the arm pain is real!
@@markbone haha! I FEEL that..tennis elbow is kicking in over here from shooting handheld so this has to become part of my kit. As always, thank you for sharing!
This is the only way I can shoot with my 70-200 handheld. But it's absolutely incredible, blows my mind how such a simple bit of kit can give such great looking footage, and save your back at the same time.
Don't have a cinesaddle personally but often use my shoulder cam bag in the same way and have put a series of camera hooks places on my shoulder bag to allow for different bracing options... also I can store the camera in it when I'm done shooting.
I just gave this a try, I'm glad you posted this comment cause I almost bought a $300 bag when my $10 bag does the same thing 😂😂 I never thought to put my arm through it!
As a guitarist, if I would buy this, I'd probably try to attach a padded strap like I use for my guitars, they are really comfortable. Great idea, never heard of it, thanks!
I worked on a music video with a super pro german crew. I did the behind the scenes. They used a saddle. I don't even do any video or film work anymore and I still want one for some weird reason.

got to sample one for like two minutes yesterday. Immediately ordered one afterwards. 😂 Also, feel like I got hit by a truck after a 5.5 hr handheld shoot yesterday. Can’t wait for the Sakk to show up.
@@markbone Its worked well filming things like demonstrations where you are moving around a lot but I'd be using a lighter set up like the GH5 and not so rigged out. Its not ideal and really depends on the bag, so I'd not be knocking the cinesaddle idea as a waste of cash at all, I just wonder could they be designed a little bit more smartly - as in make the thing into an actual bag that serves a dual purpose perhaps.
Thanks for your video I was just thinking about these the other day as I saw the Cinesaddle Original Australian Cinesaddle Series 2 Camera Mount years ago and wondered about the technology today.
this is an excellent and more affordable solution for an easyrig, not to mention probably more comfortable and moveable. What about lenses with follow focus??
Actually this Saak thing keeps popping up on my instagram I got me really thinking! And yep, after this video I'm REALLY thinking about getting one. Thanks for the feedback!
Cine saddle was the first (commercial version anyway) of this type of thing. As an Aussie, I feel it's my patriotic duty to point that out. Been around for decades.
Great tip; I appreciate it; having worked in the industry for 20 plus years, anything that will help with the back and neck is a must. Curious to know what your setup is in this video; cam, lens filter, mic, monitor, etc. Thanks
great vid. i'll go all day with my camo Focus Rat. i also added my own secondary strap which is perpendicularly attached to the main strap but goes across the chest. it adds additional support to keep it strapped and feeling weightless. one issue is that my breathing will slightly move the saddle up and down. Anyone else have that prob? I'll often hold my breath if i'm trying to get something clean.
Love this... I've been looking for a solution that falls somewhere between my tilta and handheld for my ronin4d. The camera does a great job but i was recently on a tight music video shoot and i went handheld and it wore me out. A good amount of walking and then parking somewhere and then moving again. The SAKK seems like it would have been a great solution for that.
Mark, I always wondered how you held rigs like the fx6 for such long days. I can relate to the muscle aches and back pain even with my smaller setup. I may look into getting a cinema bag like this at some point
I‘ve seen this before and thought: Naaah - but witnessing back pain in my early 20s makes the responsible half of mine want to purchase one haha Just gotta figure out if the other half of me will let it😂🤘🏽
Sakk seems somewhat reasonably priced but almost 500$ for the Cinesaddle is absolutely ridiculous. They absolutely deserve to lose money due to the cheaper alternatives
It’s just a bag with a soft stuff in it, get someone who sews to make you one it’s a very simple design. Don’t get me wrong i absolutely love my cine saddle just not for this use. what’s wrong with just putting the camera on your shoulder these days? It’s still the easiest on your body especially with how small the cameras are and you still get those subtle handheld movements you want, your eye level the list goes on. The only reason to hold a camera like this is if you’re 6 foot 7.
Thanks for the video! Have you encountered any issues with sound while using such a bag? I mean shotgun mic picking rustles or any other noises from the bag? I've seen that you hold up the camera a bit and just wondered if supporting the gear plus mic shock mount do the job.
you have to add a lot of gear to your shoulder rig like handles, baseplate, counter weights and v mount batteries, in order to make it work and balance properly so they become slightly more difficult to use when you want to go handheld. that said, We shot almost 100% on shoulder rigs for my last feature film, ASD BAND, they just aren't as flexible. I'll make a follow up video once I've finished this latest film using this SAKK and let know you know if I still feel this way. Shoulder rigs are great but this bag is just very simple to use
@@markbonewhy I’m asking - cause I’m extensively use by shoulder bag for stabilization, but only because I don’t have shoulder rig. So it was interesting to check why someone migrates the opposite way I was planning to take.

Hey there, I’m directing a doc following a team of wheelchair ice hockey players travelling to the world championships from Australia. Think cool runnings meets murderball. Mark or anyone in this community, I would love any tips or suggestions, because I keep getting stumped but surely it’s possible?
Yall I love this gear and used it a lot but you still have to be careful. The weight doesn't just disappear when you place it on a bag, the weight is distributed differently to your shoulders/upper traps. You're still going to find a lot of pain at the end of the day as your posture will still suffer by pulling you forward. In fact you're placing a lot of weight on one side of your body instead of more evenly when holding. Im not saying it makes life SO much easier (I love using it) but it is not a posture/body fix. Even in the video look at how he's holding it, hunched and in a forward head posture - There's nothing really you can do to combat this without a rig that attaches to the waist. I've spent years trying to combat this but its inevitable as a camera op ahaha This is why the big stedicams have WASIT straps, this is when you start to see better form and take the weight out of the body. It's like those Osprey bags, once you attach the waist clip suddenly everything is taken off your upper body and you can walk for hours. Really most camera ops should be in the gym doing a lot of pull and full body exercises to offset the bad habits and posture that they get from the awful camera holding form ( I would know, I'm one of them)
@@markbone I just tried it out on my LowePro A/W sure feels like the same thing although I haven't used a SAKK before. I'm wondering though, regarding your statement about the EasyRig, do you really feel it can replace it? I don't love using my EasyRig.
