  • Welcome back pilots! In this DCS A4E Skyhawk tutorial, I'm going to teach you how-to perform a successful pop-up attack profile against a heavily defended target in contested airspace. Be sure to stick around until the end of the video to see the un-edited attack run set to a stopwatch, and see how quickly you can perform an effective strike! These skills can be applied to almost any module in DCS, so leave me a comment on which airframe you're gonna try this with first!
    All the elements, skills, and knowledge I've used in this tutorial can be reviewed in my other shorts, which can be seen in this playlist: • DCS A-4E Tutorial Series

      @@SportDCS That's really true.... To be honest, working on campaigns takes the "fun" out of it, just a little bit.
      I still enjoy making missions, and get lots of gratification out of it. But it's a different kind of "fun". 🙂

    I think the trickiest part is identifying your target in those few seconds while you are "popping up" and getting all lined up. Its gets easier after 5-10 times on the same target but to think that real pilots had to do this on the first try is very impressive. Getting that whole pop up profile into muscle memory does help a lot of course but I never stay focused on one thing in DCS long enough to really nail that down. On another note, none of the new radar warning tones? They are really great for increasing the pucker factor as you hear them finding and then targeting you.

    • @SportDCS
      @SportDCS  Рік тому +7

      It’s 100% the trickiest part. One of the things we don’t have in DCS are good planning tools to execute strikes like this better. It would be cool if there was a mission planner before you spawn in, where you can click on your target area and take a “recon snapshot” to come up with your best plan of attack.
      As for the RWR sounds, I had the unit on and you can somewhat hear it in the background. I’ll do a video on using it and properly identifying the tones

      In a way, there may be:
      Using ME and a POV like "spectator", fly over the target area and zoom in/out to gain the view you want, then screenshot it. Edit it to fit the size of allowed images in the "briefing" and there you have it, a recon image of the target area!

    Great vid! This really showcases the shortcomings of DCS ground AI though, it took less than 15 seconds for them to fire accurately on you, while IRL it often takes me longer to even find a helicopter flying over!

    • @SportDCS
      @SportDCS  Рік тому +1

      That’s very true! But I also noticed that their fire wasn’t very accurate for the bursts they fired, which kind of indicated to me that they hone their accuracy over time?

    • @algroyp3r
      @algroyp3r 8 місяців тому +1

      This is especially painful with short-range IR missiles, like manpads. They just fire so fast, no matter how you pop up. And unlike guns, they don't have to be accurate...

      Well if they had made it into a free module, every server would benefit from it.
      But since they are too stubborn and want to keep it as a mod, not many server will use that plane.
      It's just stupid. And their explanations as to why they won't do it is even dumber

    Is it possible to keep the mod as ‘free’ and also ‘sell’ it as a free module within DCS? This should be able to be used by all servers and as advertised as all products on the ED shop.

    • @TheKenji2221
      @TheKenji2221 Рік тому +5

      They should just make it a free module. End of the debate.
      They don't even need to constantly update it. Hell, FC3, Su-25T and even some paid modules aren't updated in years. And very few actually complain about it
