When driving spirited, shift your automatic manually it will live longer than the sudden downshift from loafing About in high gear when you mat the throttle
Looks great. Im running 17x11 315 on rear and 9.5 255 on front on my base 95. Probably going with 275 up front next. I went with grey metallic wheels because you can always go black later but you cant vice versa.
You should make a video comparing the factory C4 to your factory C5 and discuss if there are any advantages you've notice in the older C4 platform.......or is the C5 just better in EVERY single aspect? I've owned a 1994 C4 auto / 1995 C4 auto / 2001 C5 6spd modified / 2001 C5 auto modified / 2001 C5 6spd VERY MODIFIED / 2003 Z06 factory and HIGHLY modified / 2006 C6 6spd / 2008 C6 6spd modified / 2014 C7 factory and modified / 2017 Z06 auto (HATED THE AUTO TRANS in that car!) ....so I have my own opinions, but love to hear the thoughts of others on it too. After owning the C7 Z06 with the auto that felt like a slush box... I'm very hesitant to buy a C8 since they only come in autos now.
I've wanted to switch out my stock 8.5 and 9.5 wheels on my '96 but I am undecided. I've considered 17" and also 18". I want a square set up and really like how the 11" fills up the wheel wells, my question is, do you notice a problem with that wide of a tire up front, like tramlining? Unfortunately, there are not a lot of wheel options for these cars. I definitely am looking for black, being my car is silver I think the contrast would go nicely. I am not sold on the A molds, they are a classic design for a reason, they look good but in black they still have the polished lip and I would rather have all black, and you just see them constantly. There are more 18" black wheel options although finding the right offset is an issue.
There are no issues running at 17 x 11 with the 315 upfront. No, rubbing whatsoever.. you might get some slight rubbing if you have 3° of negative camber, but that’s it.
The Silver ZR1 wheels in your garage look to be original equipment GM wheels from back in day, which are known to have better forged metal construction compared to cheaper cast aftermarket chrome wheels that were commonly sold. Are your chrome wheels aftermarket or true GM wheels that have been chrome plated? What axle does your white C4 have in it? Standard 2.73 or the performance axle option G92 3.07 for automatics. Swapping in a LT4 3.45 rear diff.........will make those auto LT1 cars COME ALIVE!
17 by 11's. I have 19 by 11's with P295 35 r 19's on my 87 C4 and they rub on the back passenger side on bumps. I might have to raise up the inner wheel well. How much clearance do you have? txs.
I will measure for you. But I can easily put two fingers on three front and three in the back. Both my C4s are lowered now including the white one ☝️ in that video. Just lowered it a month ago
No worries, I am also looking at front and rear brake changes now that I have wider rims. Do you have a prefered brand? C5, Willwood, or Brembo?@@FugitiveVette

Thanks, my 87 C4 brakes are hard and take a while to stop the car. It's almost as if they are designed to work after they heat up some. I have to stand on the pedal to get them to grab. My 73 LTD race car stopped harder. I'll look into your suggestions. Thanks!@@FugitiveVette
That white is beautiful. I have a 94 polo green coupe with chrome saw blades also
Is it a Manuel?
Very nice looking car I have a 95 white just like that one
Oh nice 👍 that’s like a twin

Very nice, thanks
Thank you for posting this. I have been on the fence about getting 17x11s for the front. I am def going to get them. I love the stance.
Best,

I’m glad I inspired you! They work great!
looks great!
Looks awesome !! Just needs to be a lowered a bit
I recently lowered it! You’re right looks like a 4 X 4 in the video 😂
Thanks for the tire test. I was looking at those and wondering if I should buy them or not now I will.

Yeah those are nice wheels. 275 up front is good those are the only options. 255 or 275 or 315. I went with the big sizes I prefer square set up.
11" wide on the front...wow.

Sounds like a great idea. However, I think it would be better if I do a review of my C506 before I do that..
I had 315 square and after a while the front was just too heavy with those big tires so I went back to 275s
I like the look but I would of went with Black.
Regardless, very nice Vette!
They look nice bro. 👍
Thanks 🙏

Make sure the rear rims are not scraping the suspension also check the brake lines.
I been doing this for years. My black 96 has had a square 315 set up for 20 years.

The white C4 has the standard 275 gears. Engine is completely stock. It does, however, have Kony shocks..
I got the same wheels, not chrome though on my ‘94 with Nitto 555g2. It really wakes up the appearance. By the way, what’s with the goofy boots?
Yeah I love those wheels! The boots 👢 😂 I forgot I had them on! I wear those when I wash the cars or do any yard work.
Can we see it lowered
Yes 🙌 it is lowered that’s a good update to do! Will work on that
Here it is lowered! ua-cam.com/video/VtnL_zXOwFY/v-deo.htmlsi=BfyR7C4dcERs-XON
I may have missed it but where did you get the wheels at? I have a 96 LT4 and want the zr1 spoke wheels like that instead of the saw blades.
I bought them used from my mechanic back in 2005. Then were my street wheels for my black 96.
I beg to differ. think The oem ones look way better.
My woman says the same thing. Let’s revisit when I lower the car 2 inches

@@petercermak1910 it should violently stop ✋ with the right rotor and friction compound.
What offset are those wheels? I tried a set of 50mm offset 17x11 with 315's on my 94 and they stuck out both front and rear.
Mine are 50mm
They stick out a little bit.
I bought some for my 90 ZR1 and dam things won't fit backspace is different
You should be able to correct that with spacers?
@@FugitiveVette possibly if it doesn't look bo legged
@@topjimmy2929 I think the off set on mine are 50mm
R888R's run wider than most tires of the same size.
White is righ t on a vette
Well excuse me
Painted black sucks..makes them look small ...the wide rims already have short spokes 😢 and the black makes it worse
What's the offset on the wheels? 36mm or 56?
50mm
Maybe lower it an inch...
Already have! Will do an update! Looks great 👍
Good grief who cares.
