Your truss cable is installed in the wrong orientation for your gate. You want it to start at the top on the hinge side and connect to the bottom on the latch side. This lets you tighten the cable if the gate starts to sag. As it is currently installed it is trying to pull the latch side downward, basically trying to force it to sag.

@@BYOTools Yeah no problem! It's a common mistake you see on gates with a truss cable instead of a wooden brace because they run to opposite corners.
If the gate had a wooden brace running diagonally across it, it would go from the bottom of the immovable hinge side up to the top of the latch side because the wood strength is when its under compression.
For a truss cable it's the opposite because the cables strength is under tension, so you want to use it to pull the bottom corner of the latch side up toward the immovable hinge side.
The benefit of the truss cable method is you can tighten it later to lift the gate back up if it starts to sag. With the wood brace method your out of luck if it start to sag because you can't extend the brace without rebuilding at least part of the gate.

BYOT again. That hinge is the same as what we use on farm gates. That is a terrific way to make a gate

I think you installed the aircraft cable the wrong way. The tension should be fighting the gravity of the latch side.
i thought so also.. the two unsupported corners are the ones to start to sag away from each other, hence a cable keeping it from doing that 🤷♂️
The cable is probably over kill, but yea.
Yup, whoops. A crossbar in compression would be going from top latch side to bottom hinge, cable in tension should be top hinge to bottom latch side.
Yup, sadly this is actually going to encourage sagging...

BYOT FAM - nicely lined up. I installed a swing gate in the middle of an 8 foot run for my fence. I'm constantly fighting the sag. This looks like a better system than I used. Would like to see an adaptation to metal posts.

BYOT FAM! Great timing on this video. I just replaced my gate door last year and it’s already sagging. I put in a new 2x4 frame with pocket holes thinking it was going to make it stronger, moved up the latch, and a year later the gate is sagging and the latch is too high. Now on breezy days the door swings open and I have to be careful that the dogs don’t make a break for it!

That's a pretty cool hardware kit. Nice project.
If you just wanted to drag the sag out of an existing gate, you could install that same turnbuckle system from big box components on the existing gate, as long as it's not terribly damaged.
Are you sure from that cable location? I think it should be on the other diagonal to protect it from sagging

BYOT FAM - As a beginner, would it be rather destructive to sand and refinish the boards on the gate? I assume you should've do the same exact work (on the bigger side of the full gate) to have consistency anyways which would've been a pretty big job. Keep on creating Brent! :)
