Nothing is known whether it gives tighter turn radius or not. We fly with it because holding a speed pattern and transitioning into scissors/switches etc is easier. I hold the rudders all the time in dogfights for a better flow.
i've watche quite a few speed tutorials and this one is definitly the best one for me so far. cant wait for the next tutorial. keep up the good work man
thank you Smashd this is very helpfull!!!! speed is nubmer 1 factor to win a dogfight and you are real pro!! We waiting impatiently for your next tutorial with some defensive ans ofensive maneuvers.Thank you again for sharing your secrets with us!!
That depends greatly on what situation you're in. You have to df tons of hours to get a good understanding of dogfighting as a whole. Next vid comes around in feb.
Simple; keep an eye on your speed in relation to afterburn and brake. When you go upwards gravity will drag you towards the ground, that's when you need the boost of the afterburner. When you go downwards it's vice versa; compensate with brake to keep your speed.
I think the trick here is to brake when going up, and afterburn when going down. this keeps you in an optimum speed range of about 100-400 for the tighest loops
@ mduartevix: From what I've of understood with jet turns, the yaw is a must. Yaw creates a tighter horizontal turn angle. I found the speed is easier to maintain whilst using yaw. Alot of the top BF3 pilots say you must hold the 'yaw' through out the horizontal turns.
1. Yawing is essential in dogfights. There are several maneuvers which cannot be performed without using them, for example scissors. Switches are also easier to perform and your speed control will be more smooth by using rudders(yaw). 2. Watch the entire video. I clearly explain that you have to get a feel for your jet and how it flows through the air with good speed (this does not come overnight). :)
Take it from me the after burning part is the easy part but learning how and when to brake is a bit harder. You will hardly ever find yourself just doing perfect vertical loops repeatedly so learning exactly when gravity starts to pull you back down is absolutely crucial.
Ah okay thanks. And I realise it's not an overnight thing, but I've been trying to get perfect speed control for over a year but until I saw your videos I didn't realise you could do it so precisely. So I was just wondering how to practice the 'right' way without getting into bad habits. Thanks again :)
Like I said in the video, everything takes practice. Don't expect to get my skill by watching videos and hearing what people think. I will be covering some basic switches in later videos for you to guide yourself with though :)
Everything is default except pitch up which is bound to spacebar. I use mouse and keyboard because it's what i got used to. It doesn't really matter what you use to control your jet.
As I said in the end of the video, find your own style/pattern that works for you. Yaw is mainly used because it gives easier speed control, gives better switches and is mandatory for scissors :)
Thanks Smashd Feller, great tutorial video. I'm trying to find the brake pattern for high/low yo-yos. I'm getting there slowing. If you could cover that detail some time in the future, like tutorials 2. It would be much appreciated : D
I said number one because if you dont have the right speed your opponent will have the advantage in df. is that right Smashd?? I agree that you need and many other thinks but speed (i think) is the base for all the others!! Thanks for answering!! OH when do we expecting your next tut?and again you are my favorite pilot a real pro!!
Hi!. I was wondering what are your keybindings in the jet, and why you chose them that way? I'm still learning to I'm trying to find a comfortable combination of bindings. Also, do you use mouse + keyboard, mouse only, keyboard only? If so why?. Thanks!
Hey Smashd I've got a couple of questions. 1. What's the point of yawing left or right in a loop? 2. I've watched some of your 1v1 dogfights and it's insane how well you keep to the 308-315kt window, is that really the result of you just tapping afterburner a bit on the way up and braking hard on the way down? I can't seem to get it without doing a heap of brake tapping and afterburn tapping and even then I still can't get it right. Is it the simplicity of your style that helps consistency?
and that sir (space for pitch up) is the most important thing in winning dogfights. You will NEVER win, if you only use mouse ;) thank you for this information
speed is helps a lot, but only speed wont save you from a good chaser.. my speed for example 309-314 all the time, if you do only 1 move having perfect speed you will die at the end, thats what i tried to tell you :)
He still pwns me. D: But Smash and him have fought. Smash wins mostly but mooky gives him a hard time and at least shoots him down once out of 2-6 tries. Now that Smash is inactive tho, he'll be flying like ClearDarkz and Mofa are now. Losing their mojo. :S

I know you are right and im totaly agree with you my friend!! Thanks for answering!

Wow. Thx for your tutorials. Still learning from 11yo videos

I have a question. How would you know when to afterburn, and if you would still break when you are turning up
Thank you now I can control speed like a boss just from watching this video nothing else!!!!!! Before I was noob, now I AM GOD

Music: Day One - White City
Thanks!
rudders make you do tighter turns too... and making you a harder target
Please can you watch Is your Settings ? What did you use for Roll left example
Oh right I thought it did, now I know. Keep up the great vids Smashd Feller ; p

is Rudder and yaw the same or not? If not have you the rudder on A/D or yaw on A/D?
was looking for better speed pattern
and i seen your post
Thanks much Smashd
Love the tutorials
thnx for the tutorial smash..it really helped :)
My friend told me to press R2 and afterburners when going up. Is that true?
i love this combination!
great tut :D
and that sir (space for pitch up) is the most important thing in winning dogfights. You will NEVER win, if you only use mouse ;)
thank you for this information
hi man im very sad i try to control speed but enmy jet kill me fastly
go against CX-mooky, hes doing very well these days, it would be a awesome figth :)
How does a diagonal look like?:(
how high is ur mouse sensitivity?
I wouldn't know since I don't play on console.
För jävla duktig
music name??
Thx for the tips I'm gonna use it on GTA
Lmao, Gta how's that even gonna work.... just go full speed duhh
speed is helps a lot, but only speed wont save you from a good chaser.. my speed for example 309-314 all the time, if you do only 1 move having perfect speed you will die at the end, thats what i tried to tell you :)
well asianxCuisine now i know exactly how ur speed is so damn great>=) next time we vs ill use this speed method against you
Hey Smash, You can teach me some? i tired of being a noob :(
Rudder and yaw is the same.
Pro.
Speed is definitely not the number one factor. But thank you :)
It's not important at all... It's all about what you get used to, Yin uses mouse to pitch and he is one of the best dogfighters.
i liked it
He still pwns me. D:

Check his first tutorial :)
That first statement is false. Rudders do not make you turn tighter, just mess with the angles.
oh wow, no wonder you dont speed fail
Wow
look at my name, how can you expect me to know any better
I shall do one, look on my channel in lets say a week ^^
i actually speed fail alot that why i came here XD
howd u find me lol
Smash fixa volymen på din röst :)
this is likedathuh if u didnt know
:)
rofl :D
speed is not everything -.-
