Banter between intelligent Englishmen is a wonderous thing. Richard Curtis has been at the core of the best British television and film humour for thirty years.

Respect, Richard Curtis! An intelligent, caring and wise voice among the deafening noises making us egotistical, materialistic followers of the masses.

Always loved his films. Naive? How can kindness and caring be naive? His movies and shows are fun, quirky but full of emotions and warmth. We need more of that!

Yes! Yes! finally!!! Well deserve Richard Curtis has been part of my life and my childhood with Blackadder and Mr Bean with his dear friend Rowan Atkinson and then to do other things like Four Weddings and a Funeral with Rowan and starting his future partnership with Hugh Grant on Notting Hill and Love Actually and now for him getting an Oscar it couldn’t have happened to a better person in line for an honorary Oscar is Rowan Atkinson God bless You

When he talks about the past recent weeks, and the sadness and fear, is he referring to the US election? The Middle East conflict? What is he referring to?

Why not for Tom Cruise or Eddie Murphy? Curtis is good but this is now beyond comprehension.

WHY NOT Richard Curtis? He has been doing this for a longer time. Tom and Eddie are good, but this comment is now beyond any comprehension. Tom and Eddie, haha that was random.

Richard Curtis is getting the Jean Hersholt award (there is an error in the title), which is given to people in the industry that have done important work with charities or activism for years, and whose involvement has actually made a difference. Mr. Curtis essentially created Red Nose day in the UK, and it has been a huge success over the years, it has had an important impact around the world. So your suggestions (though interesting for a regular career honorary Oscar) are actually not elegible for this category.
