The dialogue is made of phrases taken from the first Gladiator and the plot is dry and without substance and of course fictional only the architectural references are historical. Also really bad acting from actor Paul (Lucius) and Connie Nielsen lacks talent and technique for her character’s emotional expressions. If Denzel did not take the role I would not have considered watching the sequel. Tons of money spent on ego driven movie with bad acting, great costumes and disgusting stunts.

I never heard of this Paul Mescal. But i gave him a fair chance and he just doesn't have that Crowe charisma. He's not "lead" material Atleast not for a film like this. Granted the script is terrible too, so it's not all his fault (he's laughing and smiling like 10 minutes after his wife is killed) but yeah, it's a bad sequel.
