Hello Grim. Although I never played much with Battle Armor before taking a break from Battletech for over a decade and a half, I did see it played fairly often... usually the Clans various Elemental suits, although some players did play IS designs. Although I did not field my own Battle Armor, I did provide for it's development by the Ghost Lions Legion on the moon Hades, orbiting the gas giant planet Styx, in the Stygian System. Having the Helm Memory Core was a big help, as well as obtaining Elemental Suit salvage and a few intact suits... along with the capture of a few Elementals that ended up spearheading my design and development teams, as well as being key personnel in my own Battle Armor Suit Training cadre. When I returned to Battletech, I had several BA Suit Designs that were near copies of Clan and IS designs, although each had some feature or features that were unique to the Ghost Lions Legion. One that comes to mind is a variation on the Fusilier Battle Suit. My version was a ton heavier, yet the suit was faster, better armored, and had more weapons mounts. If memory serves me right, the Ghost Lions Heavy Knight Suit. The suit had a larger power core, thicker armor, more myomer fiber bundles, and a second Gauss Rifle with ammo. At 3 tons, it was the heaviest BA Suit I had ever designed, and it does have it's flaws... one being that unless a river has a 'rocky' bottom, the Heavy Knight tends to get mired in the mud of the river bed. Another is it's lack of Jump Jets to allow it to bypass the more difficult terrain features. Although faster than the Fusilier BA, it barely keeps up with the Caviler BA Suit's speed. But the doubling of the armor protection and additional weapon were welcome. I hope to one day get a 3D Printer and print out the design in my head for the Heavy Knight Ba Suit. Until then, words will have to suffice.
Been using Sloths a lot during my playthrough of Battletech Advanced 3062. Vehicles don't stand a chance, but also tends to involve the sloths blowing up along with everything else. Let's say pilot retention isn't very high.
Excellent video as always sir. I never understood battle armor. Back in the day when it came out my friends all tried to prove to me that it was Superior and they wound up getting blown away every single time unless I was stupid enough to fall into a surprise situation. Never got bad armor yeah it's cheap to build and field but it's no match for a good Mech and a smart pilot.
Late comment, but these armors are down right paradoxical to me. Fast, and tough in the extreme. But without claws to swarm, and really any particularly note worthy weapons for anti mech, out side of (at least from what I saw) a single use weapon.
The point of the IS battle armor wasn't so much to combat mechs as it was to counter the clan elementals. The Inner Sphere needed battle armor to support mechs in combat against elementals because the clans specifically built the elemental armor as an anti-mech weapon as they do not use conventional infantry. Without battle armor support, IS mechs were vulnerable to elemental attacks, but just like modern tanks, when supported with infantry (armored in this case) the mechs fare much better. The various houses also have much more specialized uses for battle armor, such as infiltration and espionage, whereas the clans only use theirs for open combat.
Good morning, I can't understand how we can still pretend that the Sloth anthe Infiltrator I are truly battlearnor. They were created for an animated serie that don't respect the "reality" in design. They are cartoon battlearmor. Talking about something else, one thing I miss in the battlearmor videos (or maybe I don't hear it because English is not my mother language) it's what kind of attack can made the battlearmor (swarm attack, leg attack), if it can ride a omnimech and so on. I still think There are good videos. Thanks to all.
Hello. Not all the battle armors have it explicitly mentioned whether they can make mech attacks or not. I only mention it when I can read the information somewhere. While they might've been created for cartoony purposes, I do believe the Sloth and Infiltrator are still canon, so up for describing along everything else :) The sloth was also the basis for the famous Fenrir, so that couldn't have happened if it wasn't canon, in my opinion.
@GrimDark Narrator Hello. It's canon, it likes to me or not, but both are the battlearmor with the worst design to be dressed by a human. Look more like little 'mechs, that it's my complain. They have cockpits like mechs! The only reason: they were presented in a cartoon. Not a design reason or a new technology brand (like it was with the protomechs. I don't like protomech but I understand they inside the canon. My dislike with them is more, how i can say it, more about colours. Or why an Battlemaster likes me more than a Thunder Hawk. But protomechs have logic in the world) And by that reason they no deserve be part of battletech universe in my own (and only in my own ) humble opinion. Four legged battlearmor could been designed by a forgotten prototype of SLDF engineers or some other idea. But, the worst of all, I have tiny Sloth miniatures in my collection. So I'm angry but happy (is more or less the translate of an idiom of my country. If i translate it with fidelity UA-cam will banned this text). I hope no one feel attacked. They are part of battletech universe even if I don't see their uniformity with the rest of designs. Thanks to all.
Ah, General Motors products in "the future of the '80s". Or, these days, not. The Cavalier certainly demonstrates a more impressive presentation than the DC Comics' Batman adversary of the same name. The Fusilier - the design is like..."gun oxen"? Or, "gun golem". The French meaning of that translated name is fitting. The Sloth is an interesting design, from an engineering creativity perspective, but as a battle suit for bipedal humans? No, it seems more suitable as a support/secondary combat platform. Neat BattleTech designs, though. Thank you, GDN!
Oh goddesses... who in the name of the first Light made the Names for this Battlearmors? Cavaliers and Fusiliers sounds great! ... and than comes "The Sloth". ... sounds more like a Title of a 1970s Horror Movie "the thing from the Sloth" or so. :D Sorry, but that ... person, needs to be fired and the name changed. xD *joke*

Ive always been partial towards 4 legged mechs. My favorite 3025 medium mech is the scorpion and I loved the sloth in the cartoon as well
i have used sloths before ... the mines can be really useful with a point blank attack from being hidden

Can't have everything now.
@@GrimDarkNarrator Yeah, it usually ends up with a mech or vehicle exploding... and then seeing the "unit lost" notification come up. A lot.
I remember the sloth from the battle tech cartoon!
I wanted a sloth back when I was a kid. Sadly only ever had the mauler.
If you mean the cartoon toy, I was the opposite.
I find quad battle armor because they quadrupeds. They are essentially specialized vehicles and the concept behind them isn't that ridiculous.

I do agree on the quadruped idea. It's just strange.
The Sloth looks very...awkward...to pilot?
That is correct, good sir.
It is essentially a specialized vehicle. The operator is either laying or sitting down and looking at a screen.
For awhile there I thought that's a Raven Guard + Terminator armor suit or some sort, lol
*ROAD TO 40K*
👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
Kurita Battle Armor when?
Soon, depending on the next poll.
🍷🤖🎩
If you don't move it with your body, it's not really battle armor. Looking at you sloth.

Maybe its because its slow. It'll also be the basis for the main Lyran heavy hitter.
Never liked davion.
