Great video. I am especially impressed with how you explain WHY a person should do this repair and that it is recommended at intervals. I didn’t know that. I think that this’ a “might as well” repair for most, as if it helps prolong the MAF, or assists the car start without the second start each time, it’s alone worth doing.
SimpleCarGuy I did this repair for the first time in??? 100,000 miles and the change was startling. While it wasn’t visibly too dirty...it drives like i changed the plugs. Thanks.
My Car Shut Off While Driving And I Was In First Gear Wasn’t Going Quick I Was Only Parking. Had My Car Shut Off Before In Neutral Due To The MAF But Never Cleaned It. Is The MAF Responsible For My Car Shutting Off? Fuel Pump And Battery Are Fine
It’s recommended to clean the MAF sensor every six months or every time you change oil or some say every time you change the air filter. I’d say if the engine light comes back after a month or some 1000 miles after cleaning but goes away again with a clean sensor. It’s time for a new one.
Usually it will not clear out on it's own. There are 3 types of codes and usually CEL is in the 'permanent' category which means you have to reset it manually.
@@SimpleCarGuy hello mate I don’t have any dashboard signs but I want to clean my maf, would talking it out and putting it back in cause any signs to come on, because I don’t have anything to rest the sign
damn all this time my BMW hesitated like someone bumping into my car shacking it when idle... Thinking it was the intake valves all clogged with carbon deposits (which I'm sure it is and will need a full cleaning soon) as I was working on my BMW 5 series M-Sport replacing a few things in the engine, once I was done and notice not much difference after replacing the Vanos solenoids I decided to "unplugged the Mass Air Flow sensor"... Nothing change, didn't stall but then I notice after a few second the car stopped shaking/hesitating and idled smooth... I pressed on the gas and it raved fast and sounded good to the point I could here the Turbos "swoosh"... never did that at idle with the hood opened.... Also no sudden Check Engine light came on until I turned off the car and restarted.... The issue was finally solved... stupid MAF was the culprit.... $150 OEM brand new with Lifetime Warranty!

Glad you found it useful! Sometimes WHY is the most important question, lol.

You saved me 500$ thanks so much brother

Great video.
I have a ’96 740il and niether a T-20 or T25 works. Seems to be a size inbetween...but I didn’t know that existed. Any ideas?
Not very familiar with 7 series of that year, could it be just a little rusty? I haven't encountered anything that wasn't T20 or T25.
@@SimpleCarGuy Thanks!
Which spray are you used?
Can I do on the my bmw 116i or I must to change new sensor?

Very hard to tell, first thing you'd want to do is scan it with a good BMW scanner (assuming it's a BMW) and then go from there.
I have had something like this happen but more along the lines of a bad start where the auto start would disengage drive power completely at a stop.
thank you sir for post videos you help me a lot
How do you know if it's just a clean job or if the sensor needs to be replaced?

Great video . Would have been good to know the sensor reading on OBD before and after to see the improvement
Do you have to reset engine light after the cleaning or the cel should clear up as soon as the car starts?

Thanks for the vid. I gave you a like after you sprayed yourself in the eye 😄

When the sensor doesn't fail ALL the way, it's the biggest pain in the ass to troubleshoot. Good job on tracking it down!
Did it work or nah you’ didn’t even say the results
Yes, it worked in my case.
Can i use Brake cleaner ?
Not recommended, can damage the sensor
can i use normal crc
Do I have to disconnect the battery?
no
Did it get rid of the check engine light?
It improved the idle for me.
It gave me a check engine after I put an after market intake on it but the car runs fine
Only if it isn’t tuned
How the hell do you remove the sensor socket bc im having a hard ass time taking my shit out
Press down on little clip in middle. Set it down for 5 minutes after a good try. Should come off pretty easy after 1-3 tries

Works with wd40 too?
No, definitely don’t want to use anything like that.
İs it safe? I Will try and it is fucking expensive 😂
