    One of the reasons tomatoes don't taste good from the store is they are picked before they are fully ripe. Also, they are designed for holding up in shipping and looking good, not as much for taste.

      Good to know! Going to have to get some heirloom ones

      Makes sense! I love our home grown tomatoes.

      I should probably clarify that my comment about big farms was directed at the GIANT agri companies (like the top 3 in the world who control 75% of the produce). Definitely wasn’t meant for the majority of farmers whom
      Keep our country running. I used to live in Kentucky and operated a small poultry farm, so I have nothing but respect for these farms. But the big agri-companies….They over-sprayed chemicals and mono-cropped despite the warnings for decades and ruined the soil, depleting the micro fauna and topsoil nutrients in a process called desertification. That is a big part of why grocery tomatoes lack flavor. (They have much less vitamins than only three decades ago as well).
      The good news is that the soil CAN be repaired if these big companies would switch to permaculture techniques.
      (Opinions are my own and not reflective of TUP or Digital Prepper necessarily). For more info I would encourage people to research the terms (desertification of soil, permaculture, Geoff Lawton, Bill Mollison. Of those, Geoff is a personal hero of mine)

    Sweet potato is better for you. Regular potatoes are simple carbohydrates. Sweet potato and yams are a complex carbohydrate,a much more nutritional food. People over in the west are just used to eating regular potatoes so that's what they go to.

    The bread in the can is a regular German bread, called pumpernickel. 😅

    • @PreppingWithSarge
      @PreppingWithSarge 2 роки тому +1

      It does seem to have the texture of pumpernickel… but also seems like it has a lot of molasses in it…
