    Well said and I agree with you completely. like you, I never understood at all, why people buy these cars and just make them garage queens. My 991 GT3 has 20,000 miles ( combined track & street miles) and loved every moment of driving this beast. I also have placed 7000 miles so far on my GT4, and 5000 miles on my 2016 Spyder which is by the way is more fun to drive on the street than both the GT3, and GT4. My only recommendation to you and since you use the GT3 as a daily driver is to install the DSC module which only takes 15 minutes to swap out with the factory PASM stock module. It will enhance your driving experience so much and allow you to enjoy the car on bad roads even while using the stiffer PASM sitting. It will transform your car in terms of handling and comfort. If you have any questions regarding the DSC module please feel free to contact me. Mark

    Couldn't agree with you more. I just got past 9500 miles and my car seems to pull stronger. I've done a few overnight track days, long drives, but mostly use it for my daily commute to work, short morning blasts, shopping, quick runs, it's good for almost anything with the front lift and a very usable frunk. What a car. Still can't believe it some mornings when I get in a start it. Awesome.

    I have never actually commented on a UA-cam video before but I have to say I have been a subscriber for maybe 6 or 7 months and I am continually impressed with how down to earth you seem. I think its easy for people to write off car youtubers as pretentious and condescending because you obviously have a fair amount of wealth and opportunity.However, we all have a passion for cars and the fact that you choose to share your opportunities with us in the manner that you do is very impressive to me. You really do allow us to escape into a world that we may not have access too without making us feel belittled which is what makes your channel stand out to me. Keep up the great work, looking forward to more videos and more cars. Cheers!

      That's because Mo is "colored" and his channel went from literally nothing with a shitty camera to blowing up overnight and having professional production help after a bunch of black folks complained that they weren't getting front page placement on UA-cam so after a meeting with them the staff at UA-cam had to find some well spoken people of color to promote that would be appealing to a wide audience...Mo was one of those people. UA-cam literally tried to shove his channel down my throat. He has the fastest growing car channel on UA-cam of all time. That's what happens when UA-cam promotes you to the exclusion of others because of your skin color.

    Thanks James. Always great to listen to your opinions. What a novel idea - actually driving a great car instead of storing it! I've had my share of garage queens over the years and in the end, the only one who benefited from my meticulous care of the car was the person I sold it to. So I finally said "screw it, I'm going to drive this thing and wring out all the pleasure I can."

    If you haven't heard the talk about the manual gearbox you are not looking in the right place as there are plenty of people talking about it. Also Porsche are building the new GT3 with a manual gearbox so people are happy again that it will be an option. And finally the GT3 and RS models were never meant to be a daily car. They were meant to be a race car for the road. And having to change the gears yourself and manage revs etc is part of what the ownership experience and enjoyment of it. It's good that people can choose which gearbox they can have and maybe some will use them as a daily but that was never the intention of the originals.

  • @LimaUniformCharlieA

    Crazy to see the GT3 in silver when you're so used to the blue. The blue is just gorgeous.
    I love manuals and I explicitly looked for a manual 5 series when I bought mine. But I can see the point you're making. Getting stuck in traffic isn't that fun with it, then again I would miss shifting on smaller, twisty roads.

    I have the same car but in red, and I agree 100%. It's bizarre that such epic driving machines spend most of their life in a garage because the owner is hoping it appreciates. I also use mine to the full, drive to work sometimes, do autocrosses, do track days. I will probably get less for it when i sell but for me it's worth it as I have had phenomenal experiences, and as you say, in a few years these amazing engines will be history. I think you hit it on the head ... it's a fscking super great daily driver and should be daily driven. That's why it's great (I personally pref. the TS over the GT3, as I like that extra space in the rear, and somewhat softer chassis, and faster acceleration (and quieter), but I'm so happy to see other people can really enjoy a car for what it is ... A CAR!!!

    You've easily become my favorite UA-camr. Thank you for making these videos, they're very entertaining and informative. You seem like such a genuine and cool guy. Btw, you may have answered this in the past, but what watch are you wearing? Always find myself gravitating towards your watches

    Very well said... too many of my friends rarely drive their sports cars due to resale value or being too afraid of rock chips/scratches/mileage... I drive the piss out of my Porsche and the only time I don't drive it is during snow storms due to being RWD and summer performance tires

    Not something I'd do personally. Tantamount to wearing a Patek Philippe to the gym. A GT3 on a commute everyday, drudging through the traffic in snow and ice, or savouring a nice day on a lovely road. Each to their own - guess it would dramatically reduce your video opportunities if you chose the latter! 😉

    I rarely comment on videos but I will make an exception on this one because I totally agree with you on this. Cars are made to be enjoyed and driven not be treated as an investment.... although they are not mine so I only to respect 😉. kudos for you Sir. tough and thumbs up 👍🏻

    With reference to one of your main points regarding mileage of supercars; perhaps it's due to the fact that most of us work ludicrously hard during the week and don't film supercars for a living...

    • @MrJWW
      @MrJWW  7 років тому

      +EnzoFerraridude Time has nothing to do with it - I run several businesses, mentor for others and find time to film and edit all my own UA-cam content - you can drive to the alps and back in a weekend from the U.K. - no excuses.

    • @EnzoFerraridude
      @EnzoFerraridude 7 років тому

      I agree to some extent. One must absolutely make the most of the weekends, particularly when you're young with few commitments/dependants. It is worth noting however, that many people practising and following their passion don't have as flexible working hours as those who run their own businesses. I love your content by the way, so apologies for sounding negative. :)

    I can't wait to get my car. I'm literally selling 99% of all of my property (most of a large arms collection, a shit-load of ammunition, a M109A3 Military Truck w/ lots of modernization parts, etc.) and taking roughly $60,000-$80,000 to buy a pre-owned Porsche 911 or an Audi R8 and the rest ($40,000-$60,000) to buy camera equipment (and to live for the year) so I can film myself traveling the States going to car shows, gun shows, and doing other awesome shit. I'm currently in the process of going through everything and creating an itemized list of the things I'm selling and their values. Hopefully it can all be sold and the car bought within 6-12 months.

    James, you should order the 991.2 GT3 with the rumored manual gearbox! Bit of a financial strain, but it would be awesome to keep the 991.1 and compare the PDK GT3 with the "desired" manual car. Cheers from Toronto

    My boyfriend has had 2 F-Types (currently an R) which he also put high mileage on from daily driving and agrees with your point completely about people being too precious about depreciation. Why is it that a "cheap" car can do many miles and still be considered near-new, yet somehow these well-engineered cars are considered to age prematurely? People need to use these cars more instead of treating them as garage queens.
