Chinese elders are amazing. This isn't just happening in Beijing. This is pretty much all of China. From my travels there, Chinese elders are diligent athletes who make full use of the public facilities. They really are a shining example for making fitness a lifestyle.
When I lived in New York City I really enjoyed watching men and women in a Manhattan Chinatown park exercising in this beautiful graceful way as a community and I was very, very impressed. We here in this young country have so much to learn from these wise and ancient civilizations, cruel regimes and political disruptions excluded. If the Chicoms would stop their failed system, all art and science would benefit from the accumulated knowlege within the Chinese culture and they are not asking anyone for a handout or eternal welfare.
Love it! Wish someone would put together an exercise video we could all follow along with. When we visited Vietnam we saw this in every park. It’s no accident that they are in great shape even in old age!
after they finish exercise, they will go home and cook for their son or daughter and pickup their grandson or granddaughter from school afternoon. and their son or daughter will look after them until they die. one of my Jewish friends grandpa died in the toilet and not to be found until three days later. they are rich family, but what about these poor families. people died in the poor unit alone, and be found a few years later.
were there really people who laughed at this vid? I find it interesting though. I'm an architecture student and I find this early morning routine of Chinese people really eye-opening
Looks like its so much fun to be a senior citizen in China.Glad to see them living active and healthy social life which is good for physical and mental health .It saves a lot of money for government on public health.
Every day I do the type of exercise foubd at minute 2:16 while watching TV, so I don't turn into mush. I love it! Feel limber, alert, relaxed and refreshed without sweating like a pig.
Here's your Chinese workout program. -2 sets 15 reps of roll-on-ground -100 reps of arm flail (directed at tree) -2 sets 5 reps of circle-the-tree -1 set 50 reps of shoulder rolls -5 min interpretive dance (no rest) -5 min cool down to banjo music (must be banjo music)
It is a different concept on exercising. It is bodily movements following the flowing of chi which circulates internally along guided pipelines. It is slow and harmonious and has been known in China as nourishing one's life !
@@elenal9719 I haven't looked this up in a very long time. You've written something in another language. I couldn't get the link. Could you help me? I'm interested in the routine found at 2:13 - 3:11

What is the stick form starting 5:28? Good video capturing what goes on in Ditan Park!
Do you know what song they're dancing to at 2:15?
muy bueno!!!
look at all those airbenders!
Yes, that’s what they do and always welcome strangers/foreigners.
When I was in China I had several encounters with elders that when they found out I was American they said " America where even poor people are fat"
Ooh the memories
Nice energy balancing exercise
@shbrannon - I'm really sorry I don't know what the music is, they were playing it on an old machine they carried with them to the park
I would like to see if you could upload the entire recording of 2:13 thru 3:11. I know it has been awhile but I thought I'd give it a try
Stacia Brannon the music is ‘秋菊’
