    I like Southwest Airlines. I regard it as the "Honda Car" of the airline world. They're not the most luxurious or sexy airlines. But they are dependable, comfortable, and will get you to where you need to go.

      Enjoy your travels my dear! And this is coming from someone who has traveled to well over 120 countries. Traveling is the best thing for your mindset, and both it makes you appreciate the things that you have in life and also strive for better things that you witness in your travels. Although that depends on where you travel. North Korea and Saudi Arabia, not so much I’m afraid lol 😂

  • @stormchaser419
    @stormchaser419 2 роки тому +1

    Still confused about the grouping. With Covid, apparently they are only allowing 15 to board at a time now? Anyway let's say I'm assigned A12. Does that mean literally these 15 people have to look at each other and go, what number do you have? What number are you and make sure everybody lines up perfectly 1 through 15 or do those 15 people just get in that boarding line and go in the plane regardless of whether they are A2 or A12. Thanks!

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  2 роки тому +1

      I haven't experienced any COVID related boarding irregularities. I have no idea how boarding 15 at a time would help anything all when you are all going to sit next to each other on a plane and eat and drink etc... there's no logic in that except fake optics maybe...
      The boarding is done in groups A, B, C, D, and sometimes E depending on the plane size.
      If you are in A12 as you stated then yes when they say boarding A1-40 for example then you line up and you ask "what number are you" to find out where you go. If you have B12 for example and try to get go in A they will stop you and make you wait.
      People will ask you and you will ask them. You need to line up in order, it's crucial to their system and they will gladly call you out of it. Say they are boarding A1-40 and you are A40 and you try to board first, they will stop you because people pay extra to get up in the line to get better seats and overhead space. It's only fair.
      The gate agents are always super nice and super clear. They will call out no one to line up unless they call your group and number. Sometimes they will board A1-20 and then A21-40 etc...
      This is why I don't fly them much. I prefer to know my seat and know that I'm not going to end up in the back in the middle.
      I just did a longer video on all of this that might help, ua-cam.com/video/rl-9xNSV3Z4/v-deo.html

    How does southwest handle connections? Like do I need to check in for each connecting flight as well or will checking in for one flight check me in for all the flights? How does this work?

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  2 роки тому

      No you only have to check in for your flight going and then coming back. All connections are handled through that one check-in. Be sure and see my other Southwest video for a hack if you get a bad placement in line. They make everything super easy except how you get on the plane haha.

    Does Southwest allow a bottle of water and an aerosol can (hairspray) inside the carry on bag on domestic travel?

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  2 роки тому

      No airline allows this, it's TSA regulation. They will take it and throw it away. You have to buy all of this after security to carry it on to the plane. That's why I recommend in this video giving yourself time to stop at a store past security to grab water, snacks. You'll thank me later. You can't use hairspray on the plane, just FYI. • @Zachus
      @Zachus  2 роки тому +1

      Because it is checking you in for 2 separate flights. If more people are in front of you for the Early bird or for checkin then it will give you different boarding numbers. You can always pay (when available) to bump up to A 1-15 normally for $30 per flight.

    My wife and I are rapid rewards members. We're A listers. We fly business select. We always board A1 through 5. We don't even have to check in before hand. They do it for us. We get to check our bags first, get plenty of alcoholic drink vouchers, and rarely have to show them. We typically bring good food with us, and always bring our metal water containers to fill up once we get through TSA. We always get great seats. If you aren't flying Business Select, then you're stuck behind those of us who do and that's a shame because if you fly a lot like us, those points add up and you'll miss out on a lot of free flights. If you're flying business select, then you do need to get there early, but we never have to since we are guaranteed to board worse than A 1-15, but we rarely get worse than A 5. So do yourself a favor and fly business select. You won't regret it.

    First time flying from Houston to Vegas in September. I'm trying to book on sw but i have a few questions
    #1 why are there different times and stops do people have to get off or you stay on airplane?
    #2 can i bring snacks with my water?
    #3 how do I add early bird check in once I book my flight?
    Thank you! 😊

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  2 роки тому +2

      Hey Michelle, great questions!
      1. Depends on where you are going but most of the time you have to get off and change planes. Airlines use their Hubs to transport people from all over the country in and then re-distribute them out to their destinations unless you are in a large hub city, then you can find Nonstop flights that are direct from your location. Houston is the hub of Southwest and you should be able to find a Nonstop direct flight to Vegas easily.
      2. You can buy snacks, water, candy, magazines, and even go to restaurants like Chick-Fil-A and buy stuff and take it on the plane with you after you are through security.
      3. Yes you can, any time before the 24 hours before your flight you can add the Early-Bird Special, but be sure and watch my other Southwest video and you'll find out a better way than this. It's a bonus tip that shows you how to skip the line. ua-cam.com/video/rl-9xNSV3Z4/v-deo.html (this hack not only lets you board first but also lets you go through priority security)
      Hope this helps!

    I’m going on my first flight soon. So does SW only let you watch movies/shows through your own devices or do they have screens on the seats?

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  2 роки тому +1

      Southwest planes do not have in seat displays. You need to bring your own device. People use their phones, tablets. etc... If you click the link right under the video in the description, find the flight flap or click here, amzn.to/3irf615, you can get one for a tablet but I use my phone. Bring earphones. It's rude to play it out-loud for all to hear lol
      Once you are up in the air you can login to their wifi and then go to the app and click on entertainment. What I do and recommend in this video is to download some content just in case their system is down which happens. Hulu, Amazon Prime, Disney+, Spotify, UA-cam Premium, Audible, Podcast all let you download stuff offline to your phone.
      Hope this helps!

    • @Zachus

      Also, to be honest with any airline like Delta, American, United... it is hit or miss if you'll get on a plane with screens and then you have to rely on their content and bring old time headphones with a rc jack or buy them from them or buy something like AirFly Pro amzn.to/3jyM7YC to connect wirelessly to (comes in handy on long and international flights that always provide screens)
      So with that said, it's always good to have your device at the ready because all of them also offer free content on your device IF their systems are up which they are 95% of the time. I just want you to be prepared for anything so you have a stress free great flight

    Question .. Do all SW airlines have free movie and TV ? How do you get it ? Is it an App ?

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  2 роки тому +1

      Yes they do (unless their wifi is down)
      You connect to their Wifi [SouthwestWifi] once on the plane (sometimes once in the air) It normally will automatically pull up a link or website of their Inflight Entertainment but you can also go to their app and click on Inflight Entertainment that only shows up once connected to their wifi
      They also offer free iMessaging for text only
      You can get internet for as law as $8 (not to stream) but browse, check email etc...
      They offer
      - Live TV
      - Movies
      - TV on demand
      - Radio
      FYI you can also see your flight tracker, look at food/drinks available for purchase, etc... through the app when connected to their wifi.
      HINT: The reason I strongly recommend downloading movies/tv/music to your phone for offline use from Disney+, Hulu, Spotify, etc... is because sometimes you'll get on a plane and the wifi isn't working at all or is slow. Always have a backup plan 😉

There's plenty of stores and vending machines in most airports to pick up anything you'd like to drink (water, pepsi, dr pepper, gatorade, etc...) plus snacks, candies and more.

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  2 роки тому +1

      No, not the same. Fly-By or otherwise known as Priority boarding comes with First Class, and in Southwest Pay for Business ticket or upgrading to A 1-15 list. Most major Airports depending on security line have a priority lane. Which is awesome because you do get to skip the long line and get through security faster. Love it! Not all airports have this though.
      Pre-Check is something you go through with the government. You have to fill out forms and get an appointment. There is a yearly fee and they do a background check. All airports have a pre-check line which not only lets you skip the line but also gives you perks like not having to take your shoes off etc... Only worth it if you fly a lot because it's a hassle but if you fly every week or more than 15 times a year, might be worth it.
      Hope this helps

      @@Zachus I've flown it a few times, and yes, because the average person usually won't take advantage of the established rules and demand a saved seat, if one wished to do so, as did happen on a flight I was on, the staff must suport the person who selects that seat first. The ladies husband, who she was saving the seat for, sat next to me instead. You technically cannot save seats on Southwest Airlines and all you have to do is ask anyone of their staff, on the phone, or in person, and they will inform you accordingly.

      Tricky question. Depends on what... Overall For SURE!!! Way better. But if you are looking for things like direct flights, or selecting your seat then AA might be better (this is true for any airline) It comes down to price, as little stops as possible (nonstop preferred) and then everything else (friendliness, wifi, seats, etc..)
      Hope this helps. I've flown most all of them and Southwest has the best customer service but no upgrades like first class, no seat selection, etc...
      American Airlines is most often delayed, older planes by and large. I live in Dallas so I fly both a lot because they are both Hubbed here.
      United, which not a fan of right now due to politics, I flew every week for a year, always was great but haven't flown them since COVID
      Delta is always good for me but I don't get a lot of flights out of here with them without stops so rarely fly them except to Atlanta...

You obviously haven't traveled a lot or you'd know that Southwest has some of the best prices out there or at least equal but then you get the benefit of 2 free luggages which most airlines charge you $50 per check-in which can be up to $100 for 2 bags on top of your fare. Thanks for stopping by. Hopefully you learned something

      I know right. I'm glad to see people standing up against all this madness. I think it's sad that Southwest didn't own it. They were the only airline coast to coast to cancel over 2,000 flights but said it was weather related... NOPE! Time to take a stand! I know it was painful but we must suffer some to get our freedom back.

      I enjoyed it.
      Though I only flew three times.
      I flew from Houston to Tulsa.
      Then Tulsa to Dallas and had to switch plane to get back to Houston. (I’m counting this as 2)

      Free 2 check bags, inexpensive flights.. seats are a tad uncomfortable but not unbearable. SWA is the way to go. Especially if you want to get away 😉
