Flying alone and for the first time. Work paid for my flight, and its a connecting flight. Anxiety is through the roof x.x Your videos are very useful. My company likes to use southwest. Not sure if they'll ever have me on a different airline.
You'll do great. You're preparing and doing your homework. Get to the airport a little early, & make sure you have your boarding pass before you leave home. Dowload the app, I can't stress that enough. There's a lot of good information you may never use, but if you need it you'll be glad to have it. Check out a map of the airport where you'll make your connection. Good luck!
@@AverageMe Hello, quick questions because I'm nervous I have to get my tickets tomorrow, so my flight is at 10:10am so when I get my boarding passes tomorrow do I do it at 10:10am or at 10am?
I’m about 35 minutes away from checking in. I also purchased the EB but will let you know how it goes. Oh and guess where we are going...Orlando smh! Lol!
In theory, no. Early bird is supposed to automatically check you in 36 hours in advance. I still like to check in at 24 hours because I don’t fully trust the system!
Great questions! Both passes can be downloaded. They will both appear under the common reservation number. You can use the common phone both at TSA and boarding, but you could also each download it, print it out, or screenshot it and share the photo of the pass with your travel companion. There are a lot of options as far as the boarding passes go.
Thanks you so much. I haven't flown SW before and am really worried. Both my husband and I are flying together. If I check in does it mean both of us are checked in?
Just making sure I understand right. I'm going to be using early bird check in. I know it automatically checks you in but does it check you in for a connecting flight as well?
Hi there! Your video is very helpful! We have a flight nextweek. I bought my family ticket and have only one orderconfirmation .. do i need to check in my family one by one or it will be automatic?
This will be my first time flying Southwest Airlines. So I have some questions. I hope you don’t mind. When I check in on the phone to get the boarding pass and screenshot it, will it still scan? Do I need to log into my account when I want to check in online and not in the app? If there’s 2 passengers flying together, and only one checking in, will it automatically check in for the other passenger? Can you go to the agent to check in your bag and get the boarding pass printed out from them instead of doing it yourself at the KIOSK?
Yes, a screenshot boarding pass will work. I also save it to my wallet & of course you can always access it from the app, so you can have it in 3 places (that’s what i do). If you’re on the same confirmation number only one needs to check in. You still have to go to the kiosk but they usually have someone there to help.
I like aisle for a number of reasons. I can stand up to stretch during the flight (or stretch my leg into the aisle if nobody is coming through), if I need to use the restroom I'm not bothering others to get out, and I can access my overhead storage.Upon landing, I like to be able to access my bag so I can prepare to exit quickly and don't delay others behind me.
You will not be able to check in until 24 hours. The longer you wait after 24 hours, the further back you will be. You should check in at 24 hours on the dot. It's been my experience that you should wait 3-5 seconds AFTER iPhone turns over to the minute. I have tried to check in "on the button" and it says I am too early, seconds later it works.
If you purchased tickets together, there will be one confirmation number for the entire party. You only need to do this for the party that is associated with that number.
So I booked a vaca to Orlando around May 25 for me and someone else on the same reservation- when I check in will it be for both of us? Will there be two boarding passes there? - Also, what’s the chances of getting room for carry on bin above? Super nervous it’ll run out of room.
I assume BOTH names appear on the reservation, which means there is only ONE confirmation number. If that's the case, you will check in ONCE and both boarding passes will be available, most likely in succession. If you haven't done so already, I would suggest that each of you create a Southwest account now, so you will both have access to your own boarding pass within your own account. Overhead space is largely dependent upon your boarding number. If that is a concern that is causing you anxiety, consider springing for the $15-20 for Early Bird Boarding (see more here: ua-cam.com/video/Vi2pUY5vXVk/v-deo.html ) Early Bird is NOT a guarantee of "A" group, but you stand a better chance. Also, go straight to the back of the plane as there is likely more space there, since people fill the space as they come to it. Additionally, make sure your carry-on can fit beneath the seat. That way, if overhead is full you can use the underseat area. Honestly, I rarely have been on a flight where I couldn't find overhead bin space. GOOD LUCK! Stop back and let us know how it goes!
You CANNOT check in prior to 24 hours before your flight. You CAN check in at any point within 24 hours prior to your flight. However, the nearer you get to flight time, you less likely you will be to have a low boarding number. If the position you board is not important, you can check in right up to the time you arrive at the gate (but I don't think that's a good idea). The first 5-10 minutes within that 24 hour window is best for a lower number.
@@AverageMe okay so, I need my flight ticket to check in , and then I get the boarding ticket is that correct? Another concern is where do I go to see my flight ticket on the app?
You don’t have to check in again if you have your boarding pass and are ready to proceed to the gate. But you will have to stop by a kiosk if you are checking bags.
I am assuming you made a reservation for two people and you have one confirmation number for both. In that case, you will only need to check in once and both people on that reservation will get separate consecutive boarding numbers.
Checking bags is easy, but things are a lot quicker on the arrival end if you don't have to wait for your bag; just grab your carry-ons and head to your ground transportation. What airport are you flying into?
So if I am flying with my family with a child under 6, would it matter if I just bought the “Wanna get away” tickets? We would still get called to board after the “A” group?
When I do the same thing it says "Passengers can log in to their account to view their own mobile boarding pass" I am already signed in but I am also flying with another family member. Help
Bwhan0307 - Never fear! If you can only view your own boarding pass, your travel companions can see their passes by logging on to their own account, or by getting a paper pass at the airport. They can also log in and print a proper boarding pass, as can you.
@@AverageMe I cannot view my boarding pass on the nor can I print it from the app. I already checked in so I am not too worried but I would like to show up at the airport with my boarding pass.
Hi Andrew! it may depend on the airport, but in MOST cases you will proceed to a kiosk which are located by the check-in area. Once there, you'll enter your booking info. This is usually your confirmation number, but they can also find it through the credit card that was used to book, your Southwest frequent flier number, or your Known Traveler Number if you have NEXUS, SENTRI, or Global Entry. The machines can scan your boarding pass, as well. At that point you'll be prompted for your baggage info. You currently get 2 free checked bags with Southwest. The kiosk will print out baggage tags which you attached to your luggage handles (they are adhesive strips). You then take the bags to the counter (baggage drop) where they will check your boarding pass and ID, and take your bags. If there is no kiosk, simply proceed directly to the bag drop counter.
We’re four people but they divided us in two so now I have two confirmation codes. Do all four of us have to check in or just two of us with the two codes?
You can but it won't allow access. You will get a message saying you cannot access your reservation at this time. 24 hours is the earliest you will be able to check in.
I think any "A" position is pretty good, even though you are at the end of the "A" boarding group. That means the MOST that are boarding before you are 59 people, and the plane holds about 144. Also the first 15 positions are premium, so it's possible only 44 will get on before you. You are almost guaranteed a window or aisle seat, and will certainly have overhead baggage space. Congratulations!

I'm thinking of trying out Southwest because i'm going to Florida again in February. Will it be the same as American Airlines, that i can still check in and buy my bags on the app without signing up for an account?
So my flight is at 8:15am the airport i am flying out of is in Central Time. I live about 2hr away and I’m in Eastern Time. So do I check in at 8:15am or 9:15am (since it’ll be 8:15am CT)
Yes, still check in online. The online check-in gets you your boarding position and your boarding pass. Then, when you get to the airport, go to the kiosk and get your baggage tag & drop your bag at the desk.
Thanks so much! First time flying alone. When does the gate number become available or how do I see it? I noticed it's just dashes in the video. Thanks 👍
With Southwest, it's open seating. First come, first served. That's why it's so important to either buy Early Bird, or hit your Checkin-in button 24 hours in advance to get a high boarding number.
I checked in but I saved it to my wallet and screenshot it but it won’t give me the option to send it to my email even though I had that in my contact information.
Gates are prone to change. You may see the gate on your boarding pass within the app. If not on your electronic version, it is usually on your paper version. The best place to find your gate is the departure screens throughout the airport. And finally, always check at the gate itself, as they may make last-minute gate changes.
I know southwest charges$75 for a 3rd checked in luggage. can i pay that amount in cash? do they accept cash or visa debit card of foreign bank account?

So my flight is at 8:15am the airport i am flying out of is in Central Time. I live about 2hr away and I’m in Eastern Time. So do I check in at 8:15am or 9:15am (since it’ll be 8:15am CT)
It's the time zone of the airport of departure
Thank you!
Should I check-in online even though I have a suit case, Or just go to the counter?
Yes, still check in online. The online check-in gets you your boarding position and your boarding pass. Then, when you get to the airport, go to the kiosk and get your baggage tag & drop your bag at the desk.
What app is that
EMERALD FIRE WOLF - It’s the Southwest airlines app. You can get it for free at the App Store
Thanks so much! First time flying alone. When does the gate number become available or how do I see it? I noticed it's just dashes in the video. Thanks 👍
That depends on the flight/airline. Sometimes I don’t find out until I check in at the airport.
If I bought 2 tickets, can I check us both in? Or does my buddy need to check in separately even tho I bought them both together?
If they are under the same confirmation number, only one of you has to check in.
Thanks. I watched a couple more of your videos and came upon one where you talked all about it. Appreciate the free insight.

How do you know where your seats are
With Southwest, it's open seating. First come, first served. That's why it's so important to either buy Early Bird, or hit your Checkin-in button 24 hours in advance to get a high boarding number.
@@AverageMe So in your case. You could have sat anywhere on the plane? Or only in that row, section B 11 that has 3 seats?
Amed M anywhere
I checked in but I saved it to my wallet and screenshot it but it won’t give me the option to send it to my email even though I had that in my contact information.
When will the app list the gate number of the flight?
Gates are prone to change. You may see the gate on your boarding pass within the app. If not on your electronic version, it is usually on your paper version. The best place to find your gate is the departure screens throughout the airport. And finally, always check at the gate itself, as they may make last-minute gate changes.
I know southwest charges$75 for a 3rd checked in luggage. can i pay that amount in cash? do they accept cash or visa debit card of foreign bank account?
