100% agree on bringing an empty sports bottle. Not only do they have water fountain but most major airports have dispensers to fill your personal sports bottle. Also, I always bring some snack bars.
Great vid 👍I appreciate the practical tips. Thank you 🙏
I like to step on my scale first and write my weight down then I step on the scale again carrying my luggage and write the weight down, after that I subtract the two and that’s how I know how much my luggage cost.😂
I guess that could work lol we use amzn.to/45B2v1v
Genius 😂
Thank you for the information
Thank you man! I’m going to be flying southwest in a few weeks and now I can know what to expect!
Glad it helped you out. Hopefully it was or is an amazing flight
I just did this. I upgraded on the app for $40. I went from A20 to A05. I got the exit row seat without a seat in front of it. It was a great flight.
Just added Early Bird to my flight that's coming up in a few days because of this. Thanks!
Have fun!
Great video!
You are so cool! Thank you so much for this video. I'm going to fly for the first time. I'm nervous. It's overwhelming (parking, booking, TSA, etc.). I am clueless. I've been watching videos before I book.
I have narrowed the flight to Monday morning at 6 AM. Can I check-in before Sunday at 6 AM?
If I buy the Early Bird automatic checkin, do they get put ahead of flyers that are checking in online? Or is it still better to check-in myself? Thanks again. You are helping so much! :)
Awesome! You will have an awesome time. If you book Monday 6am you can only checkin at 6am Sunday not before. 24 hours before your flight to the minute. Early bird does the same thing as youu checking in yourself except you don't have to get up at 6am on Sunday 😁 Did you hear my hack at the end of the video? The bonus? Hope this helps. Hope you have fun. I have videos on airport parking as well.
Do you know if you or anyone else has a video on playing Transfers? Southwest airlines for waterball airport having to change planes never been there
Water✔️
Soda✔️
Salty snack✔️
Sweet snack✔️
Brilliant
Thank you SO MUCH for explaining their nonsensical boarding process. I wish I had known how it worked before I flew with them 2 months ago. Myself, my husband and my son were in last boarding group and in entirely different rows and YES, just as you said, uncomfortably sandwiched in MIDDLE SEATS!,,
They really do need a video that goes out with every ticket and check-in. So many people every time we fly them are confused. That's why I did this video to try and help.
The big problem now is all the scammers claiming they are disabled to get on the plane first for free, but miraculously walk off the plane fine when it lands. We stopped upgrading to A because of this, we still end up in the middle of the plane... Only worth it if you are in bottom of B or in C.
Other than this, they are a great airline though. Best customer service in the business.
Thank you
Thanks for the great tips. What do you recommend for people having pain in their ears on the plane?
Yeah, chewing gum can be super helpful especially during ascent and descent. Also, it is recommended to be awake for going up and down. You can equalize your ears but I'm sure you tried that. Also, I know people that have used these earplugs, might be worth a shot amzn.to/46sLqat
Hope this helps.
Bought a $5.00 luggage scale from Amazon. Accurate and reliable 😂
You can take a water bottle through TSA as long as it’s empty and just fill it at the gates. They have water bottle filling stations everywhere
Yep as mentioned in the video 😀
That water fountain (the same water that comes out of their bathroom sinks) tastes like crap
Good pt about food after tsa check
I have a SWISS backpack, do you think it's too big for a personal carryon? Im not sure if it would fit under the seat. Thanks!😊
You'll be fine if it's the one I'm thinking of Swiss Gear amzn.to/3Swk27h
I wanted to ask how early can you upgrade to A section on the app? This will be my first flight on soutwest from Nashville TO Phoenix. Im a bigger person and wanted to ensure I get a good seat that I will be comfortable in. If you book the tickets online how do you requests a seat for a person with a disability as well. Thanks
24 hours before your flight. Not sure about disability, I think you have to do this by calling them or at the counter.
I have 2 kids (3 and 6) will Southwest let me check them beneath the plane
Counterpoint: The middle seats in the back are actually the safest seats in the plane in the event of a crash, if that's a concern of yours.
Can you use Bluetooth on the plane to pair earbuds? Or do they have a viewing screen with 3.5 mm jack to use on the airplane?
Southwest doesn't have screens. You can watch free things with your phone or tablet. That's why I recommend downloading content because their wifi might be down... And why I recommend the fly flap. Hope this helps amzn.to/3TLki2J
AirFly Pro is for Bluetooth on other airlines with screens amzn.to/3H4ki6r
Would you happen to know how car seats work with southwest? I leave with my kids in 2 weeks and I’m so nervous! Do they bag the car seats when they take them as checked luggage?
If you bought a seat for your child you can take the car seat onto the plane with you and use it.
If not you can check it either at the counter or at the gate. Most recommend you bring you're own bag like this one amzn.to/4bXNV6G.
If you check at counter it'll come out at baggage claim but not on the belt but over on the oversized luggage table/door. If you check at the gate unless otherwise advised you'll pick it up getting off the plane.
Hope this helps.
What's it called to pay for the upgrade you mentioned at the end? Is that early check in or boarding upgrade?
It is not early-bird check-in. It's called Upgrade Boarding which is A1-A15. I would only do this though if you are in lower B, C or D. We've found lately that a lot of "disabled" people are getting on first and then healed during the flight and walk off, causing the upgrade to be worthless as we still ended up on 4 flights in the middle to back of the plane. Just a pro tip.
Hope you have a great flight
Thank you so much.
We fly out from CT IN 26 days…I paid for Earlybird…I’m to anxious to wait and see where I’d end !!! I wonder why they don’t let you pay for your seat’ 26:40 Like JetBlue does?
🤷🏻♂️ it's a great mystery but they are super proud of this nonsense 🤣
@@ZachusTravel lol!!! It’s just so bazar!! Thank you for the video by the way it was very informative.
Good afternoon Zachus: My question is about checked luggage on a domestic flight with Southwest. Can we check in cardboard boxes? If yes what is the best measurement on SW air.
thanks
Yes, you can do this. The same rules apply. Same size and weight limits as a suit case for the box.
I am traveling with my two kids. Is there a chance we may not be able to sit together due to this ridiculous seating policy?
There is a chance if you are in C or D. Normally though someone will help you by moving. If you are super concerned, use my Bonus tip at the end to hack your way to A and you'll be solid. If you are in A or B you'll be good.
I checked in for a southwest flight exactly 24 hours before my flight and I was already in the B group.
Yep it's because so many are checking in, early bird Siri check-in and business... It goes fast. I checked in today at 1min late and got B28.... But you can always use my hack 😁
early bird everytime 😊
So isn’t even worth it buying the business select tickets ? I’m planning on going to San Diego and first time with southwest
I see no benefit honestly. Maybe getting a refund if you decide not to go but..
@@ZachusTravelAnytime fair is refundable also. Is the refunds to the original form of payment or just a travel credit?
How can I check in from home the day before my flight?
On the app or their website.
@@ZachusTravel thank you
How to measure carryon baggage?
No one does this unless they bought theirs in a van ally somewhere... All major stores follow TSA requirements. Don't over think it 😉
check their site and google it, I just bought a new carry on, Your carryon can be no bigger than 24” (L) + 16” (W) + 10” (H) & personal item can be like a backpack, laptop bag, purses for ladies etc. So many people I guess take advantage and take up to much space in the bins trying to put to large of a bag, I used to check my bag as it was like 26 inches but when I fly next month the one I got will be 22 so will be better & then a personal item backpack that goes under the seat :)
How do you pay for A seats
You can pay when you check-in in the app if available or at the counter or gate directly with a SWA Rep. Thanks for watching.
Ok ... im sorry, but the carry on and personal is free, right? -first time flyer.
With Southwest it's all free. Carry-on, personal item and 2 checked bags
There's no more family boarding?
There's still family boarding
I wished I watch this content sooner
How many kgs is allow in one persons......thank you pls reply
What do you mean for Checked luggage it's 50lbs per bag for 2 checked luggages (22.68kg per bag). For carry-on you get one carry-on luggage and one personal item like a purse, back pack, etc...
Is there no weight limit for carry on luggage?
Yes, as stated in the video, each bag is 50lbs limit up to 2 checked bags. You pay extra if you are ...
I have one tip for flying Southwest. Don't fly Southwest. Any time you have to watch a YT video to play games with boarding an aircraft, it is not an intelligently run airline.
Tickets are for a given seat, board the back of the aircraft first, that is an intelligent way to seat passengers. No bad blood between passengers who simply want to get to where they are going, vs. those that are fighting for seats and gaming the system. I'm on vacation, or traveling for work, I don't want to make a job over boarding an aircraft.
Cattlecar of the sky.
If you love flight delays, you will love Southwest!

What about someone with disability? We dont want to pay for the early bird though. Do they get assigned seats? I guess I'm confused? My husband is a 100% disabled veteran and i HAVE to be in a window seat next to him because of my anxiety. We dont care where we sit... even in the back lol
Anyone with a disability and Veterans get to board first. Request a wheel chair and you will board before anyone else so you will be fine. Then you'll be able to pick a seat up front. Hope this helps.
Only Families with kids will have to wait till after A is boarded unless they got in an A group. They used to let them board first as well.
Exactly, it worked just like that for me yesterday when. There will be wheelchairs for you both at your destination at the aircraft doors. Good travels.
@ZachusTravel it's not first. It's between A and B now with family boarding so it is nearly impossible to get window seat. I was researching for my autistic and adhd kids and they told me I'd have to wait with 2 of them for family boarding and my 11 yr old boards alone for not having disability
They were horrible to is. First time flying ever. Got stranded 4 hours in sjc because they're plane was having issues. With no updates, .. they'd say it in Vegas, no it's in la.. no its in air, or still delayed. It arrived and it seemed they'd duct taped it together. They'd offer $21 refund if we chose not to fly with them. We ended up waiting another 3 hrs for delta flight because we didn't feel safe in the junk they offered. After I got home and contacted them, I was told oh so sorry here's $150 voucher yo fly again. I had told them already I'd never use them again and had to max out credit card just to get home. Plus of I fly again it'll be with kids that are autistic. And with their boarding it means my fan of 5 will be scattered all over plane if I can't afford business class. I can do sane flight pick seats on delta for less and have my autistic kids all together
I'm so sorry to hear this
Same happened to me In 2018. Mechanical problems in HOU. Delay 4 hours. ABQ TO BUR. The staff rerouted me without a problem. Gave me a $100 voucher . Didn't cover my bar tab and wound up in LA plastered, but I used that voucher a year later and was very happy with SW. My only problem with SW is that they only fly from ABQ and ELP, 3 to 4 hours away. I live near ROW, 40 minutes on foot. Have to fly AA. Nice airline, but no the greatest.
Don't buy water! Bring an empty bottle
Sorry but not my thing. I buy water
