I am Amanda from Hong Kong. I make easy and practical cantonese learning videos for complete beginners to intermediate level.
My full time job is a flight attendant. I enjoy studying foreign languages. My job allows me to visit many places and meet many people. So that I have more chances to practice what I have learned.
Due to the covid, I haven't fly regularly for over a year. I find UA-cam is extremely helpful for maintaining my language proficiency. One day, out of curiosity, I looked for cantonese learning channels. I was so surprised that there are so little and most of the good one are even from overseas. That's why I started "5 minute cantonese" on 2020.

Hi, Amanda! I deeply grateful to you for such a unique content on UA-cam, your literally every lesson makes me(as the one how has been studying mandarin in university for 9 months)deeper and deeper encouraged in Guangdong hua. But unfortunately... concerning that I do live in Russia, right in the place where sanctions made Patreon donations unavailable, I lack the ability of getting extra papersheets from the first hand. Therefore my only question is... don't you have any other donation platform or at least some requisites?

Thank you very much for your support. 🙏🏻Unfortunately, currently Patreon is the only platform I have right now for uploading the course materials. I hope it will open soon in Russia. I would explore more options in the future as well. Stay tuned.😉

Thank you, I actually knew the word tall and thin, but not its opposites. I wanted to know the opposites so I could have a holistic understanding instead of saying something like "not tall"

Hi Amanda, I've noticed that that word for short aai sounds a lot more like ngai when you say it - where does the 'ng' sound come from? As a Mandarin speaker, my eyes naturally are drawn to words which are similar to Mandarin and that character is pronounced ai in Mandarin. Many thanks!

For this one is my bad. 😅 In Cantonese there are some words we can say with ng. Like short. (ai2, ngai2)
      love (oi3, ngoi3)
both pronunciation are acceptable. But in the dictionary, you'll find the one without the ng come first. When I edit the video. I should put both. I didn't realize until I received the comments.
      Sorry for the confusion 😕
