5 minute Cantonese
Hong Kong
Приєднався 18 кві 2020
Hi, I am Amanda from Hong Kong. I enjoyed language learning. I speak Cantonese, English, mandarin, Italian and German.
I guess whenever you tell the Cantonese speakers that you want to learn Cantonese. They will appreciate a lot, but the next minute they will tell you it's very difficult, almost like a mission impossible. So at the end you try to memorize few expressions by heart or simply give up.
I love to share how I learn language and try to use my own way to teach you. I hope So that you can surprise your cantonese friends.
To deepen your learning experience with me, I invite you to become a member of 5 minute cantonese through Patreon (www.patreon.com/5minutecantonese) and receive worksheets and audio exercise weekly.

I am Amanda from Hong Kong. I make easy and practical cantonese learning videos for complete beginners to intermediate level.
My full time job is a flight attendant. I enjoy studying foreign languages. My job allows me to visit many places and meet many people. So that I have more chances to practice what I have learned.
Due to the covid, I haven't fly regularly for over a year. I find UA-cam is extremely helpful for maintaining my language proficiency. One day, out of curiosity, I looked for cantonese learning channels. I was so surprised that there are so little and most of the good one are even from overseas. That's why I started "5 minute cantonese" on 2020.
Remember, practice makes perfect.

I am reviewing your lessons. What an amazing and beautiful teacher you are, Amanda!
Thank you very much for your comment 😀
Thank-you Amanda for another great lesson. Your lessons are so useful - I watch them over and over whilst on the bike or rowing machine at the gym, then watch them at home & write up notes, then practice speaking your examples into Google Translate until it finally understands what I am saying (often takes many attempts) 😂 - then I save the sentences for future practice. But it all revolves around your amazing lessons.
Great 👍🏻 Practice makes perfect 😄

Thank you so much beautiful teacher. I found less Cantonese lessons on YT, but you always teach a lot of Cantonese. I love your heart. Love from Cambodia!
Thank you very much for your comment. 🙏🏻
Great video thanks Amanda. Quick question, in this video you say goek3 is leg but I thought goek3 means foot and teoi2 is leg. Can goek3 mean both foot and leg?
Exactly! When we speak, we will simply say goek3 for everything related to our foot or leg. But when we see the doctor. Of course we'll say the part precisely.
Thank u. Very practical and useful.
You are most welcome 😀
Thank you Amanda for the lesson ! Can I also say "我啲廣東話好咗好多" to mean "my Cantonese has improved a lot" ?

Sorry! should be lesson 3 ua-cam.com/video/WvSWjHGMM9E/v-deo.html
another great lesson. I wonder if those Honzi have some connection the meaning. 煮 looks like a pot or wok over a flame, so it seems to be more related to physically cooking something over fire, Whereas 整 can mean make or prepare, hence the example with the pasta and cake. Also 白飯, is that because the rice was usually eaten white?
You are very creative 👍🏻, 煮 is a phonetic compound word. It borrows the sound of 者 and the meaning of 火. 白 is the colour of the rice and also means pure. Nothing has added.

You are the best Cantonese teacher on UA-cam and I appreciate all your hard work. I’ve seen every video at least ten times, and patreon, and master class on patreon. All worth it. I just wish that you had more weekly content for intermediate level. We are now in lesson 205. I don’t think there were any words here you haven’t covered. It feels like a lot of time spent on basic words that you excellently covered 100-200 lessons ago. I don’t mean to criticize because you really are the best. Those are just my thoughts because I would love to hear you cover some new topics and words each week.
Thank you very much for your continuous support. I will definitely consider your suggestion. Hope my monthly master class exercise will help for your level. I will implement more variety in the future. 😉
