I love how Noah's "Rough sketches" are better than anything I've ever drawn in my life.
03:56 "This is a quick and very ugly sketch i made"
Me:I wish i could draw like that.
@Rotale Right.
Me too
Same fam
He doesn't really believe this is ugly he just want to sound modest. This "modesty" has become a stereotype among youtube artists
Rotale i would also draw like that No not that i mean like this

7:31 There is something very important you missed - hue shifting. Shadows should generally be drawn with colder colors, like blues and purples, while the lit areas should be drawn with warmer colors, such as yellows or reds. You should almost always make a difference in the hue depending on the lighting in the area. In the example you showed, the darker green would have a blue tint, while the lighter green would have a yellow tint.
how do you hue shift it
@@SaadTheGlad drag the hue selector closer to warmer or colder colors depending on what you want.
for example, you have a red hat.
purpler shadows oranger highlights
:O YOU CAN MAKE THE BLACK OUTLINE MATCH THE INNER COLOR!!! I'm not being sarcastic :O I'm actually blown away by this. I have been working on my pixel art style for two months now and I always just drew a black outline. Says something about my creativity level ':D And the white to create light spots gives it a whole new depth too.
How's your art now?
Oof I don’t do an outline for my pixel art
Oh hi I know you
Excellent video. For such a short video you managed to teach a little bit about PS, explain your whole pipeline, and give a lot of very useful tips and tricks. This is really top quality, well done! I can't wait to try it myself.
I'm so glad you liked the video :) ! Hope you have fun making pixel art !
I too love csharp.
Sometimes it's actually harder to draw something with less pixels so choose wisely
Dis really true
Well that's most of the time.
Let's say you drawing a Burning skull with horns, on a 50x50 paper.
You're gonna have a bad time.
And yes i see this comment is 1 yr old but i don't rly care :3
@@sunniboi7105 Well, I'm still alive to read your reply so I'd say it's still relevant
@@commenturthegreat2915 Are you still alive?
Can I get a "Yeahh boiiiiiii!"?

At last a pixel art tutorial that's not 3 years old
Why does that matter? pixel art has been around for years!
There are better tutorials that are older
What new tools were featured in the tutorial that were just released? I don't keep up with photoshop updates, so I wouldn't know.
Chibril too bad they’re using an EXTREMELY expensive program for it and this tutorial is useless if all you have is a phone or tablet from sony or apple. 🙄🤷🏻♀️
Photoshop is hardly an extremely expensive program. Photoshop CC can be licensed for as little as $10 US a month.
Loved your style man ♥ subscribed ♥
I JUST wanted to ask you if you will ever do pixel art tutorial and here it is! This will help me a lot since I dont have a graphics tablet yet, thankyou!!
I'm so glad to hear that :) ! Best of luck making your pixel art and stay tuned !
You can do pixel art with a mouse.
M. Yeah I know but I want to continue with digital art and for that you need it
MCMiner Try Pixly! You can use it on your phone or just a regular tablet. It's a great app.
@@rockymegaman8496 Oh nice! Thank you!
Anyone else think his "ugly sketches" are extremely impressive, and he could easily make a ton of money doing commissions for people with those sketches since they take him ~10 minutes
Also when shading/highlighting you can use a technique called hue-shifting; which will really help your pixel art 'pop'. When you want to add shading, lower the saturation and brightness of your color and shift the hue toward blue. Do the opposite for highlighting, but shift the hue toward yellow. This is to kinda mimic how light works in the real world :)
This video just popped up on my feed after not seeing one of your videos in forever. When I started game dev you were the only channel I watched. You gave me so much inspiration and and even bought one of your udemy classes. Your art always amazed me and your "Juicy " UI was spectacular. After months of dev I realized I wanted to get into 3d vr and that's what I did. I just want to thank you for the countless hours of fun and learning. I hope the best for you and your bro in your game dev endeavors!
4:57 or you can bring the picture onto your "canvas" and change the opacity so it is still visible but not as much, then make another layer and draw on top of it.
Pixel graphics NEVER age like modern ones.
Been streaming your videos all day every day at work this week while I solder. I gotta say its super inspirational to see someone as young as you stay so committed on your game dev journey. I feel like your productivity is not even human! Awesome channel, please keep up the great work!
Will love to see more of these pixel art tutorials.
I would go as far as to say that these are even better than your other tutorials.
Probably saying that cause you have awesome art.
This has saved me SO much time as a beginner in pixel art. Very helpful tutorial!
Damn man, you make really good tutorials. You understand how to teach other people information. Well done
I recommend keeping highlights from the very edge. There's a thing called anti-aliasing, which is just a dot of the darker shade at each corner, and looks quite good.
AMAZING tutorial. Especially with how you created the shadows and highlights!
You're one of the few people that actually says important things rather than just saying what pixel art is and then ending the vid lol
Pro Tip: when shading, if you choose black, then you can just adjust the alpha or it and it will give you a consistant darker version of every color.
Wait this was actually useful, as I was trying to figure out pixel art just recently on my own. Wasn't even looking for tutorials but glad i found this
this is honestly just a really thorough and well done tutorial, thanks
You arent changing the hue when changing shades. To put it in basic terms, for instance, Cold shadows are on the blue side of the spectrum and warm sunlight is on the red to yellow, green side of the spectrum.
Blackthorn. You deserve so so so many more subs. Your tutorials are so quick and informative. I cant stop binge watching your channel. Fantastic work my man. Huge inspiration.
i've wanted to learn pixel art for a long time and your video makes it look so easy! thank you for the tips!
Thanks for the support :) ! I'm really glad I was able to help you out !
Noa, Brackeys, Sebastian, Alexander Zotov are my heroes among Unity Yotubers!
Yes! They are all great!
Great video as always! Huge help to a beginner artist/game designer! :D
What are your brush settings? for example on your first drawing in 3:54 the second circle you drew has like this spikeyness at the end when you draw.
Bruh... No words can describe how awesome you are
As much as I chuckle over your overhyped vlogger youtuber accent, you make this newbie's startup amazing. Thanks to your tutorials, I was able to get started with Pixelart. Great job, and thank you! :)
try to add some gradual hue shift to darker colors (blues, purples)with shade and lighter colors (yellows, lime greens) when highlighting. it adds a little more depth. also change saturations
Hahahahah, that sneaky Hollow Knight reference :D
HAHA :D ! Glad you saw it !
Yeah, I saw it and smiled XD

timestamp pls
same Lmao
Love this video. Im doing a game in unity for my school project and i realy enjoy it so far thx to videos like this
You're so generous and kind to make this kind of videos, really thank you a lot :3
Awsome video but one thing I would like to point out is that insted of changing the colour from lighter to darker shade, just shift the hue to a yellow shafealong with it.
I want to create pixel art that's the same size of undertale characters, any idea what dimensions that would be?
along the lines of 64-126
@@burstnugget8225 Thanks
This is great, exactly what I was looking for. Can't wait to sit down properly and get to work on learning this style.
Ah pixel art, such a cruel mistress... I love it. So satisfying to create things that look like things with tiny dots.
Excited for the series, keep going!
More coming up very soon :) ! Stay tuned !
Your drawing is ridiculously good.
I did enjoyed really very much. thank u. Ur voice sounds like real pixel art as well... u match things up. I was lessening to u with gigily smile... I love the way how u had narrated.
Where has this been all my life..the best tutorial ever..thanks
0:15 No, YOU are breathtaking!
Very good tutorial 🎉❤ implemented these tips in krita and works superb
Hey, I've got a question: I did a pixel art chracter in PS on a 164 * 164 canvas and painted a character thats like 65 * 65 pixels big. Now i wanted to import it in my unity project so I saved it as a .png . But when i scale it up or even zoom into my png it gets really blurred even though i thought that no matter how big you scale it that it always keeps sharp as it is just a few pixels ..... Can anybody help me ? :DD
Damn dude, of all the in-depth tutorials ive watched, this quick one was by far the most useful! Thanks!
"Pixel Artify"??? Wouldn't that just be....pixelate?
Wyatt G pixelate would be directly picking the sketch and make it *smol*
your tutorial is the best, you show step by step and extremely detailed yet simple explanation. Cute music and camera work make it even more enjoyable to watch. Thank you so much for this effort man (Subsrcribing now)
If you have ever played Minecraft, you're immediately good at pixel art
no, bad joke.
Some times rather than starting with outlines, it's better to draw shapes made of flat colors that you then fill in with shading and detail.. that's the approach i take now days.. Outlines don't look as nice and make things pop less..
Also, larger sprites will have greater detail and are often easier to work with...
I just got a wacom intous today cant wait to get started!
Been using PS since 1996 and I am at a loss as to understand how, at 4:48, you managed to get another window (of your sketch) to float above the window you were working in (!)
One thing I have always loved about @Adobe applications are the number of different ways of being able to do things and discover completely new techniques! I look forward to this being explained … anyone?
A cool PSA for all your artists wanting to start out with pixel art, there's this pixel software thats specialized to create pixel art! It's PyxelEdit and still in its beta phase but very much affordable without needing photoshop at all! It's like $12USD and there is a bit of a learning curve to create pixel art but it's definitely available for those who are on a tight budget or for the beginners like me!
Do you recommend any tool or process on how to rotate pixel art without lossing too much quality? With PS when you rotate it gets very blurry and low quality. Or do you always need to redraw different angles?
6:28 Mr. Stark, I don't feel so good.
copyed comment?
Hyper Light Drifter is the most Aesthetic Pixelart that I've everseen.
Great explanation great video 👍🏻
2:30 In PS CC 2019: "Grid" also has to be checked as well as "Pixel Grid"
For sketching did you use your mouse ot maybe a drawing tablet??
Loving the consistent quality content! Do you think you could cover a basic control script for The Binding of Isaac/Gungeon type movement? That 3D-type movement that is presented in a 2D manner. Thanks! Keep up the great work!
You sound so happy/excited
Thank you buddy! I'm a beginner, so now I can swap out that white square I've been practicing with as the main character in Unity haha
3:50 - What brush tool are you using to get that effect please? It's like.. it smooths for you and whatnot? Thanks \o>
Great tutorial! Tbh I was surprised that my Warbear Shaman is being featured at 1:41 lol
How is this content free? I'm surprised but grateful. Also, your character design is really cool!
you make it look so easy
I like to use GIMP for this. It’s free.
Also, PS looks so much more complicated to use.
Love it! Can't wait to try it out
You've helped me a lot! With your help and some other youtubers' help, I've published my first game 'Smart Maniya' on play store. If you guys have some time please try it. Thank you for everything.
tried it out, pretty fun
hey I need a techincal help about saving after finishing the animation gif file
well my problem is when I open to see the gif Its Ultra small like 16 bit just as when you draw it
so how to make it bigger after I finish
Awesome!!! I want to try this. 🖤
This pixel art is pixel perfect
For once UA-cam Recommendations is showing me something right.
Hyper light drifter really did made me wanna "Draw Real good shit Art".
And also Katana Zero made me wanna draw it in "Cyberpunk norm style".
I was wondering how to make pixel art on the last video I was watching (one of yours). Then I found this! Really helpful!
Once your done and save it as a JPEG or PNG, my pixel character is very small, how do U make it bigger?
I'm having the same problem :(
Woop, not trying to advertise here but he joined our discord server, glad to have you in here vipboi
You could also use "Pixel studios" (mobile app) if your looking for a quick pixel draw :)
idk if anyone will reply but are you doing this with a mouse or are you on a ipad
I don't have photoshop any alternatives I could use ?
do you need the payed version of photoshop for this?
You always lift up my mood, bro
Pixel Art, my most fav art.
When you shade you shouldn't just use a darker tone o the color
To better results you also should get diferente hues
Exactly! Instead of dark green, use a blue instead!
Brilliant! 👌
Thank you! I didn't know it's so easy and fun!!
Yay. I need this
you are the best . thank you for all
Sick content!!
You are very talented. I wish i could draw like that.
Monsieur Qwertz Practise and practise, people aren’t born with talent, it takes a lot of time and hard work to succeed. If you practise enough, you’ll be able to draw just like that as well.
Okay, thanks! :)
This looks incredible! Nice work
What brush did you use for sketching at 4:10? Thanks again and great video!
I don't have Ps but that's what all of these tutorials are using. Is there another platform I can use?
can you make a utorial for sprite sheets ? I mean put all the assets in a whole atlasing to export to unity? thx
Great video, thank!
Hey Guys, I'm your big fan really. Can u plz create a video tutorial on how to snap player movement to grid on click to move games. Just like used in Monument Valley, I'm working on a project and got stucked there, kindly help!
I'll definitely consider making that :) ! Stay tuned and thanks for the support !
Just my two cents, I like adding the color first, and then animating, because sometimes I copy large portions of the subject, and then I'm not reshading the same pieces.
I have a challenge for you. Take a game jam game and turn it into a full fledged commercial game
