I am SO impressed that this man honored the previous owners by keeping the tree and the farmhouse when she requested it. It shows that he really cares about the property and the people who live there...This urban village is so beautiful!

I wish there were more land owners like this man. Something like this on a larger scale would be great in bigger cities. Tons of tiny little communities like this spread out through a city, it would be a nice way of addressing affordable housing or homelessness. They don't even necessarily have to be on wheels, they can 3D print houses at a way cheaper cost. I work in sheet metal and he's right about prices doubling. It's out of control.

Yeah me to, I love these videos, I really hope to own a tiny home one day.
He's right in saying that normal workers like us deserve to live in the city we work in. I've lived six hours from my job for over 7 years. I've tried everything to live as close as possible. Even applying to different jobs. I do love my job but that love gets very bitter when your stuck in a 3 hour commute each way. We need smaller afordable nicer homes because a 36 year old should NOT have to live with five roommates in a studio just to get to work. I hope more city officials get it together because young professionals without kids do want nice homes to live in too.

This is an ideal THW community. What a wonderful man! Terry understands the need for affordable housing & has done a fabulous job here. These are almost non existent on in the northeast. I've been researching these for years. Well done! Such great people in this community who truly care about their neighbors- something seriously lacking in today's society.

Oh this is just what I want as a still healthy and able retiree. I've lost all my work connections and live on 4 very isolated acres. I want community where I can share my skills and caring nature. Please North Carolina get on board with THOW communities!

You are absolutely correct. As a senior I’m looking at being priced out of my rental of 33 years. No savings…401k etc. social security is my only income. Really appreciate his philosophy for the tiny house living. Thank you.

@@TinyHouseExpedition Thank you for sharing. Because of circumstances I would need access to transportation. This living arrangement has a greater appeal than a high rise. This could be more affordable and maintain "independence" for myself and others with disabilities. Praying this for the near future. Seeing a place with "pods" and a place for a caregiver. The possibilities are endless.
Such a wonderful community of tiny homes. I love it! At first I thought they are too close but when the owner explained, it made sense. He's done a beautiful job. Love how the people have a real sense of community and look out for one another. The homes are delightful, too! Thanks for providing these awesome tours Alexis and Christian. The first time I drove by this tiny home village, I did a total double take. Loved learning more about it! Lake Dallas is unique to our part of North Texas. There is still some autonomy in what you decide to build and they definitely support smaller living options. Thanks for the deep dive!

I agree about the cars. I was watching another video about a tiny home community and having the cars parked in front of the homes spoiled the ambiance of the village.

I don't think Terry is a hipster. ;) Also nothing wrong with trailer parks but tiny homes on wheels and mobile homes are very different in construction quality, insulation, durability, customization & ease of repairs, and size. Small mobile homes are at least 2x as big as tiny houses, so you can better utilize urban property like this to create more housing opportunities on small lots.🤔

@@user-vd2jk7dl3p totally get that! Living in mobile homes and RVs have long been looked down upon even though they’re are needed accessible affordable options, and can be very nice. There are many beautiful trailer parks too that we’d gladly live in 😊
I’ve been thinking the same thing but these are generally much smaller than trailers. My mom had one and it has a full kitchen, living room, a 10’x8’ bedroom and a 10’x10’ bedroom and full bath. Much larger yah than most of these.
@@TinyHouseExpedition There are some mobile home parks where the lots are owned by the residents instead of rented out by a landlord. They would be prime candidates for conversion to tiny home pocket neighborhoods.

@@ThePjl110 living in an apartment you don’t own, with shared walls, perhaps people above and or below, and no sense of community…this is far better. Urban areas are pricier, hence more densely populated. Is it for everyone? Of course note, but I have watched videos of many of the residents’ homes and everyone seems so happy! These types of villages could be a viable solution in areas where housing prices are pricing people out of homeownership, not to mention people who,just prefer a more minimalist lifestyle. I think he did an wonderful job of community planning.
@@My-Channel_forever I agree, the camaraderie amongst the neighbors is a wonderful lift of spirit to know they are only a 'next door' away from help, even emotional help! Though, i did comment on the 'close together' they were, yet beautifully done, it sure as heck beats living on the streets & they are now ALL home owners...can't beat that in today's standard for the young & older retirees, there is just not enough money paid to us when the cost of living of ALL things keep skyrocketing!

This is amazing! I sure wish people in California would be open to different types of homes and communities. They are more worried about their home value going down, without any proof they would. So they fight against it.

What a great idea, For years my husband and I lived in a co housing community as our kids were growing up, your community is so like co housing. I found living with others who want to be neighbors is such a great way to live.

I like the idea. But Lake Dallas opened at $500 a month, which is reasonable for a lot this size. But now up to $650 a month? At $500 a month for 13 lots that $6500… I am sorry but sounds like an exorbitant amount to charge for what you get.
Lot increases are related to rise in costs of just about everything, especially property taxes. By comparison to market rate apartments in the area, it still is a more affordable place to live

And if you do not own your tiny outright then you are paying a mortgage and lot rent.
I think that some people see the tiny home movement as a way to make a lot of money and really do not care about the movement or the reasons behind the movement.
@@johnm2482 fair point but once the tiny house is paid off, the lot rent becomes exceptionally affordable. Importantly, Terry is NOT trying to make a quick buck and cares deeply. He worked closely with tiny house enthusiasts and owners during the development process

$6500 a month is $78,000/year BEFORE property taxes, income taxes, upkeep, renovation, amenities, and expenses. You don't think that a person who created the space and maintains the space deserves to earn $78,000 per year as a salary? Do you go to software engineers and tell them that they deserve to earn $120,000 for HELPING to create the website you use?
These people just get to use his land to place THEIR HOME on for free? No other rv park or mobile home park is cheaper than $650 per month.

Surprised zoning laws didn't get in the way being so close to inner city.
They almost did! But they successfully worked with the city to get permission
I have been wanting a Tiny Home but I cant find anyone who builds them here in Dallas or a place that allows them
Look into these builders: Indigo River Tiny Homes & Decathlon Tiny Homes. Lake Dallas Tiny Home Village has a couple openings coming soon. Also try Tiny Lots on the Prairie and Crosswinds RV & Tiny Home Community.

I’m so impressed with the tiny house movement that I am trying to get my two sons into them my oldest tinkers and built stuff like generators that you don’t have have electricity to run just air or water my youngest he loves to draw and do architectural work he’s the one that does the roofing but they both do landscaping in the summer I’m trying to do my best as a mother that at 60 years old that I can help them out and get them in to something that’s worth wild and I think the tiny house movement would be perfect for them because they could build them themselves and we could either rent them out or sell them. What do you think I’m trying my best to figure this out I don’t have any money I gotta get along I know that I gotta get me some land and I gotta to hand me at least 5 to 10 acre so I can make this tiny house serenity village for my kids OK thank you so much and God bless

Please consider buying property and doing the same near Gastonia NC.
