    Most of the stories on this channel involve people downsizing into a Tiny House to gain financial freedom, but not Haley. Instead, she designed her own Tiny Home at 19 and moved into it straight after college. She now lives tiny in Southern California, with the confidence that she will always have a home she can afford.

      @Mario Lipton ... I dear Mario, if you do a search for on tiny houses on UA-cam, you will find a large variety of types, and what they are made of..... your comment shows that you haven't seen the tiny houses that are almost totally made of reclaimed and recycled materials. People whoare believe in recycling use used lumber, used appliances, and used counters, materials, used dressers, etc. Being careful about the" taking care of of the land" makes people who are conscious of and aware recycling. UA-cam has countless tiny houses, and RVs, mobile type homes thatis use recycledmaterials materials.

      OK, she doesn't have a mortgage, but where did she find $50k at 19? There's lots of possibilities, but I would like to know how she raised the money. Otherwise the implication is any 19 year old could do it.

    • @awarenessvillage
      @awarenessvillage 4 роки тому +66

      @@wilmaknickersfit She isn't 19 now. That's just when she designed it. She finished college first and hired the contractor to build it. Maybe she started saving long before she was 19. Maybe she got a loan. Maybe a parent died and she got an inheritance.
      And why couldn't any 19-year-old do it? The only thing that stops anyone is themself. A guy I know started with a paper route at 10, bought equipment and started detailing cars at 13, he babysat, pulled weeds, washed windows and cleaned houses, at 16 he started picking up groceries, shopping, errands, picked up dry cleaning, called people to wake them up in the morning, even his high school friends.. He had over $25,000 at the age of 18. That was in the early 1980s.

    After going through a super hard, expensive visa process to bring my husband to the US, building a tiny house over the course of a year for $10,000 out of mostly reused materials has been amazing for us. All of it, on top of the visa costs came from me working at a cafe and him working at a factory. It's everything we need and we've been able to save up a lot. Really will help us make more clear decisions with the amount of space we really need whenever we move to start a family.
    You don't always need the bells and whistles - but it's up to you, and I think she's done an amazing job.

    I love your tiny house, it shows much forethought and love. But one thing said caught my attention, when you said that your oven was not accurate, I want you to know that it is not inaccurate because it runs on propane, it is inaccurate because the thermostat is malfunctioning.
    The type of fuel used ( electricity or gas, either natural or propane) does not affect the accuracy. If you set it to 350* and it either does not get that hot, or gets hotter than that, it's the oven thermostat, have that replaced by a professional and you'll get accuracy.

      The thing about storing clothing in big bins or containers is that things get piled on top of each other so you can't see what you have and where your stuff is. Also if you're someone who doesn't want wrinkles in your clothing whenever you want to wear something that's not right on top of your pile your gonna have to waste time ironing it which you wouldn't have had to do if your clothing was organized better in the first place.
      As someone who is trying to use the konmari method for clothing storage my heart dropped a lil bit when I saw her clothing storage. Ever since I made the change in my storage I have saved so much time and space by simply organizing a little differently. I'm still guilty of using big bulky containers for some things but it's how you use the containers that makes the difference.

    People yall stop worrying where this young lady got the funds or not to build this tiny jewel.
    The fact that as young as she is she knows that tiny living is the,way to go in a world where Apt living or buying homes in this market nowadays during this pandemic has forced many of us to find other alternatives to living worry free!
    This is really inspiring to those of us who have not taken the plunge to building your own tiny home...its awesome to see a young adolescent who knows what she wants at that age & even more inspiring to see she achieved it at her age.
    I do hope her generation will pave the way for their generation for them living worry free so that they do not have to take up the financial burdens most of us have had to go through.
    You have done a Beautiful job in creating such a beautiful lil home & your personality shows all throughout your lil jewel...it feels so calming & welcoming.
    My only concern now is that you at such a young age living all alone in the valley & maybe having trouble from a wandering pervert out there.
    Im a mother & Id worry sick if my child was all alone & as you even said no grocery stores near by Im wondering if your that far away from people too?
    Please stay safe young beautiful Soul!
    I will be praying for you & will always remember this beautiful lil tiny home.
    Blessings to you!👍🏼⚘

    She did a great job designing the tiny home. Didn't see the washer/dryer, so guessing she uses a laundromat? Otherwise, it has everything. Didn't mention solar panels but she has batteries. Would love to know how the power works. Her couch looks very comfy and her stairs to the loft have a ton of storage. Her kitchen has everything and love that she has extended counter space on the end. Love her green thumb. She seems incredibly mature for her age. There are a couple things an organizer could help her with, like using 2 tension rods to hold a piece of cloth to cover the sky light so she doesn't have the sagging big drape. Also, some cute matching or complimentary storage bins to hold her clothes and maybe shelves for her books, or more baskets. Also, concerned about the products right over the stove on the shelf. They might spoil from the heat? Love the pup. Wish her all the best!

      Right, what 19 year old has 50k laying around? She is either a trust fund baby or in debt out her ears. Look at the shiplap and posh home furnishings, that place does not look cheap/frugal at all. Plus she is renting the land. So when the day comes that she has to move it... will the cost to move it plus the cost of damages incurred during the moving process be worth keeping it? There may be a day when she has to abandon it. This just seems like a rich kid millennial living out a hipster trend. Good for her, I guess, but it's misleading to paint her as some sort of innovator who has made so much sacrifice.

    • @imscanon
      @imscanon 4 роки тому +5

      Wow, all these assumptions here. If you live in California, you learn to hustle at an early age. She likely worked for it and saved or got a loan just as most people do. Just because you may be lazy, doesn't mean others don't work hard for the things they have or that all things are possible if you work toward them. With a loan and land rent, she'd still be paying less than rent.

    • @Scottfraser250
      @Scottfraser250 4 роки тому +3

      Canon yeah but they haven’t mentioned how she even got that 50k so naturally it just appears bit suss especially for someone so young. You can’t blame people for assuming because the info wasn’t provided.

    • @imscanon
      @imscanon 4 роки тому +2

      @@Scottfraser250 It doesn't matter how she got it. She started the process at 19, then went to college and worked so it didn't all happen when she was 19, just started the designing. I had quite a bit saved by 19, worked hard since I was 11, bought my first house at 23. It's not that difficult. No one ever gave me a dime, yet I've owned 4 homes over the years. It also doesn't say if she got a loan for some of it. Point is, it doesn't matter, she hustled and has a home, all you need to know. Here's the thing Scotty, knowing changes nothing unless your intent is to disparage like if it was handed to her that's why YOU have nothing because no one gave you anything, but if you hustled too, you could do the same. You gotta work, you gotta save, you gotta plan what you want and make it happen. That's really all it takes. I hustled, I got what I wanted. I paid for my own college degree and my own way since I was 17. I bought my Mom a car, and a place to live, I put my niece through college and am semi-retired now at 56 with a decent life and no debt. Ya just gotta hustle, esp. when you're young. I wish tiny homes were a thing when I was her age, I'd have done that in a heartbeat. California wasn't cheap then and is worse now.
