    0:17 - I quote this line with my best Pacino impression every time the wrong person wins an Oscar.

    Roger ebert was absolutely right about Robin williams being snobbed in Awakenigs and also Ray liotta in Goodfellas, 6:50 & 7:38

    Reversal of Fortune was the most underrated movie of that year. I still love to watch it today.

    Diane Ladd is great in Wild at Heart! Like Siskel said, she was proud of that performance, a believably cartoon vindictive sociopath and she pulls it off perfectly!

    I wonder what Diane Keaton was doing

      I haven't read anything about her campaign that year, and it surprises me that she bothered at all. Keaton stated multiple times that she didn't like "The Godfather Part III" and only came around to it in recent years. The fact that her relationship with Pacino disintegrated during production probably had something to do with her take on the movie.

    7:47 Ray Liotta should have been nominated

    Routine romantic comedy like Ghost? Sorry Ebert, as much as I respect you, that movie was anything but routine. It combined romance, comedy, the supernatural, and action, and pulled it all off quite well.

    How did Almodovar not get Directing and Writing nominations for Atame! ?

      1) It's a foreign film, those don't get major nominations without aggressive marketing campaigns and wide audience appeal, and 2) it isn't one of his most acclaimed works. Almodovar's big shot years in the international market began in the late 90s.

    I know this was the early 90s, but it’s still very inappropriate that they refer to the Dances With Wolves characters and actor as “Indians”. I knew that term was misused when i was a kid- years before these two had this discussion.

    • @flaccidusminimus2170
      @flaccidusminimus2170  Рік тому

      That's fair, but the term was and remains widespread, and even some Indigenous people continue to use it (more commonly in the United States than Canada). It is still commonly used in legislation and census records. Things like the Indian Civil Rights Act and the American Indian Higher Education Consortium were still relatively young in 1990. I have always tried to avoid using that term because it's confusing and dumb.
