- Watch Cindy demonstrate how to make a fun and useful clear-view tote. It's useful for organizing your sewing materials, make-up, charging cords and many other things. The clear vinyl side makes it quick and easy to see what's inside when you're searching for something you need.
You can find quality clear vinyl at your favorite shop or from these online retailers:

Don't you just love these vinyl bags? I got brave one day and made one. Didn't do too bad a job of it, if I do say so myself. BUT, they're addictive. By the time the week was out, I'd run out of vinyl and had an inventory of 22 bags!! I don't even have 22 projects!! I much prefer the binding method as opposed to the turn-over-the-edges method. What that does is make the bag look more professionally done. And by using the stylus, you get sharper corners, right? Thanks so much for this run through. Now I'll go finish the other four I have cut out on my table!! Oh well, I'll probably have 26 projects before the month is done anyway! LOLOL Have a great day and hugs from Canada!!
Wish I could see more detail of turning the corners of the binding. Beautiful love the colors.
Your way of making a clear vinal bag is the most easy one I have seen . I am off to make one like yours now. Tks for sharing this nice clear bag.🌹❤️🌹❤️
Loved this idea. I need to keep my Sew Simple Shapes together and store in binders. This will make a cute bag to keep them in. I'll put gromets on the bottom to place the bag in the binder.
Adorable. Love this. Going to add buttonholes on the top for a 3-ring binder. Thanks!
You make it look so easy. My vinyl edges popped out on the edge in a few places on my first attempt at this. But I see your cutting the edge to fit. Great tip. It probably would have prevented my issue from the very beginning!
I have been looking for this! I see Lori using these bags and I wanted one! Now I can make my own. 😊 Thank you!!! 💖💖💖
Awesome tutorial. I had to try it as soon as I saw it. Thank you for your very clear directions.
I love this. You made sewing with vinyl seem so much easier. Love the tip about the longer zip. Thanks for posting.
Very nice project. Very helpful to see you sew this.
I making these for my besties chrismas gifts!!! They are super cute!!!! The tutorial was very well explained and looks very easy to make! Thank you so much! 💞❤
These vinyl bags make it easy to grab a project and go...pure genius...different sizes for different projects.
This is so cute! Awesome for embroidery or cross stitch projects.
Great Tutorial! I love how easy this is to make. I love all of Lori Holt’s fabrics and accessories! Thank you!
Great instructions,I have 2 done ,4 more to go…thank you..
Such a fast, fun project ! Sometimes, you just need to sew something that’s fun and done. I call these kitchen table projects . Put my featherweight on table and sew up something in the kitchen :). My larger quilting can stay out in the sewing room without having to move it all. Thanks for a great video and another useful project to play with.
I'm definitely going to put this project on my list of things to accomplish. Love it. 😄
Beautiful Cindy. Thank you for sharing.
I love your pattern
Well, that was fun and easy! Watched the video at 9:00 and was done by 10:00. Cute, fun, functional! Thanks!
Brilliant bag have to make this will be very useful thanks for your great tutorial x

These fabrics are adorable!! I think I need some! 😉
Great useful project
Adorable, can't wait for those fabrics to be available!
This is adorable. I’m going to make one for a friend’s Christmas gift. Thank you:)
I like the vinyl tote for projects.
Such a good reminder to ADJUST the needle when using the Zipper Foot! 😉 nobody likes to break needles. A friendly reminder 💕
Wow thats a cute project. Thanks for sharing. Im a new fan Kelly USA,OHIO
I;ll bet you could ass a grommet strip on the bottom of a bunch of these to make an organization bags, too.like you did with the bobbins, applique glue for the demo bag, another for rulers/templates, etc.
Brilliant thanks. Great for Xmas pressies for sewing friends.
Hi and thanks a lot for your tutorial! The bag is so beautiful! Happy new year! 🌸🌸
Love watching you , now I am going to try
Has nobody had trouble with vinyl sticking to the sewing bed/table when sewing on the binding? I had to put some tissue paper under the vinyl so it would feed through the machine as I sewed the binding on the back. There's no problem when sewing on the front side.
Love the Iron!
great tutorial
I love this project! Thank you for sharing,
This is so nice
I would use Wonder Tape or glue to hold zipper instead of pinning.
Me too. Much easier!
I’ve made a number of these and Wonder Tape works the best for me.
@@beatricecollins5429 thank you for sharing
Me, too
I have 3 project of Lori Holt I love her , Sweet Farm Sweet , Grannys Garden , and Autum are spectacular
I live out side of Asheville NC and would love to find Lori Holt,s and charms
Oh, so cute!!
Love it!!! Thank you for the video 😊
Super cute! Thanks so much!
Very clear tutorial, thank you. Just worried about the vinyl getting perforated when you sew the sides together, then add the binding, and sew it one more time when you fold it over? I haven't worked with vinyl much, and have read that you should not backstitch, and generally you try to sew it as little as possible.
I so love this idea. Can you also come up & produce zippers that match all of Lori Holts material colors to make these bags? So we can coordinate different color zippers with bags we produce.
Well aren't these just adorable!
I love your tutorials Cindy! Thank you! Where can I get some charms? They are sew cute! I love Lori’s fabric too!
you can purchase charms at joann or probably amazon
You can for sure find enamel at Missouri Star Quilt Company, they are on UA-cam.
Great tutorial. Thanks.
great little project bag to learn techniques on. thank you :_)
You could use basting tape instead of pinning the zipper in place.
Love these bags. I have not made one yet, but maybe this weekend. I would love printable directions if they are available.
How many strips do we need to cut for the binding?
Sew fun!❤️🧵🐝
How did you sew the binding at the CORNERS aid the project bag? Your video was at super speed and I couldn’t see how you folded and sewed the corner areas. Thank you
Thanks for the question, Dorothy! Cindy recommends binding it just like you would a quilt. If you need a refresher, please view our binding tutorials from either Cindy: ua-cam.com/video/ZF7kHFW1xtA/v-deo.html , or one of our favorite people, Carmen Geddes: ua-cam.com/video/AAEtBPKBZnY/v-deo.html
are there links available for the supplies. Love this bag and the video !!!
Loved this tutorial so much that I Subscribed on 11/25/19🦃👍🏼
I was wondering if I missed the seam you used to attach the binding.
If I wanted to make it bigger how would I determine the size of the vinyl and the strips for the zipper?
So cute, thank you
Thank you for your great tutorial! I would also love to know the name of this line of fabric? Thanks!
I see by looking at the current comments that this question was asked more than once but I don't see where it was responded to. I guess I'm going to try one more time. Could you please tell us what gauge vinyl you used for the front of these project bags??? Thank you.
Hi there - depending on your preference, 10-16 gauge would work best.
Wish there were kits we could purchase for this.
That fabric😍😍😍😍😍😍
Would love to find the charms for the zippers?
What gauge is mid weight vinyl with yellow backing sheet? I haven't found it with the yellow backing paper.
Did I miss somewhere the measurements for the binding? I didn't see it in the materials list (I don't think???)
Do you sell your yellow cutting mat . I love it.,🧒
I have been checking online and cannot seem to find the vintage ladies fabric. It would be PERFECT in my sewing room....and to make one of these adorable bags. Has anyone been able to find it ? Thanks so much :)
You can pre-order on Etsy at bellatique fabric
Id like more info an attaching binding to the corners
Can I get that material now?
Love it and love the fabric. When will it be available?
Hi,
Could you tell be how long is the binding?
Love this project and just in time for a fast gift. Are there going to be some instructions we can print out for This ?
This one is really close and it has a printer friendly version. my.modafabrics.com/2018/03/vinyl-project-pouch.html
any way to get these measurements in pdf form?
Love ❤it
Glue baste would be easier for sewing on the zipper to the vinyl.
I like to use 1/8" x 200" Double Basting Tape by Collins on my zippers rather than all those pins! Just tape the zipper down & stitch in place! It's so much easier and quicker!
310Starfire me too!
I use Dritz wash away tape. It is sticky on both sides to hold the zipper in place. It works great. I get it at my quilt shop and Joanns.
What weight is the yellow papervinyl
I'm planning to make this, but having trouble finding the yellow paper plastic. Do you have any suggestions where I can buy it online??
Could someone please tell me what size & type of needle do you use on Vinal ?
For vinyl I usually use a a 12 gauge microtex needle. The microtex needles have a sharper point on them so it pierces neater.
What is the thickness of the vinyl.
cute bags, is the Vinyl 16 Gauge? Also would love a printable pattern to follow. Love the fabrics!!
What are the name of the charms and where do you purchase them? thank you!
GOD BLESS U
i cannot locate the fabric collection (Home Deck) on the Riley Blake website. Is it out of production, or what is the release date if not yet manufactured. Thank you. Great tutorial
What store did you get the clear vinyl with the yellow paper on the back?😃😃😃
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR ALL YOUR HELP! 😃 😃 😃
Cheryl Grider , I’ve seen it at JoAnn’s.
Cheryl Grider It is 16 gauge vinyl. You can get it at JoAnn Fabric.
Where can i get the big flowers/daisy fabric? Its so pretty!
I love this project bag, but would like to know if you have one that shows how a loop is added for hanging the bag?
Here's a video that shows a loop with binding that would work on this project bag too ua-cam.com/video/a6a5yXNjSQA/v-deo.html
Love this! I’ve always wanted to make one (: Where can we buy the fabric & the zipper pull?
I've researched quite a bit and can NOT find the enamel charm used for the zipper pull either. I hope a link is added
Fat quarter shop has them. I'm not sure if the fabric is out yet.
@@stephanniemetz3610 I went to Fat Quarter Shop website and did all kinds of searches they never came up. Just the pins no charms. Please put a link here if you found them.
Rhonda Waldron it took me a minute but I found them. Go to Gifts & Accessories then go to Miscellaneous scroll down until you find them. They got a new website so they’re still dealing with a few quirks and glitches.
Rhonda Waldron try this...

What is the wood thing you are using and why? What is in the spray? what makes the bottle itself, special?
Hi Kathleen, great questions! The wood thing is a tailor's clapper. It creates nice, crisp seams. We also love the mister spray bottle. It sprays water or starch in a super fine mist so you don't end up with big droplets on your fabric.
Kathleen Higham I have two mist bottles. I use Best Press in one and water in the other. They are awesome.
Should the vinyl be cut 12” x 12”. Not 10” x12” as it shows in the pattern???
Where did the fun fabric come from? Awesome project ☺️💕
Lori Holt I believe
I have the same iron and sewing machine!! Love this project... Where are the charms available?
SmittenKitten, MSQC has some. Some have been on sale for $2.50 ! 😁
@@susanmei9980 Thanks, Susan!! :D
@@susanmei9980 BTW, is that your quilt in your thumbnail?! It's GORGEOUS!
SmittenKitten , you’re welcome. And re: the thumbnail, no, it’s not mine. I saw it online years ago, and thought the same as you; that it’s gorgeous! IDK who made it, but I saved a picture of it bc I liked it so much, then later decided to use it for my thumbnail. 😁
@@susanmei9980 Just thinking about that border of HSTs is enough to make me quake in my boots! Haha! Thanks again for the info!
AS FOR THE ZIPPER FOOT , SOME MACHINES YOU CAN NOT MOVE THE NEEDLE YOU MOVE THE FOOT ON THE OTHER SIDE !!
What sewing machine are you using? I luv this little bag.
Cindy is using a Baby Lock Unity
