Buckin, I watch how you cut. Intensely. The notch, the crown, holding wood, the hinge, the plates. Not cut up. I fell trees myself. Why because, God gives us skill to help people. My chainsaw addiction is like yours. Seriously, dedicated to healing. Cutting wood the hard work. Helps heal my sole and puts smiles on many faces. Much love brother.
How in the name of Maple Syrup did that old Humber survive all these years? The mice didn't get it, the salt didn't get it, hell just being old and British didn't get it. There it sits, happy as a frog on a lilypad, ready to go to work. Nice job on the tree today, Bill. Cheers.
I’m 63, cutting trees for forever, certainly not a lumberjack! Love being in the woods! Buckin, you are such an inspiration to me, I learn something new with every video. Much love, God bless you!
I’ve been falling trees for about 4 years now. I still come here daily to learn from the great Buckin’! That’s such a good idea. I’m going to go modify one of my wedges right now 😂 god bless everyone!
There’s an apprentice, then a professional and then a master. At the top of it all is the artist. You my friend are truly an artist and a joy to watch.
I'm 59 ,and certainly no lumberjack . Thanks for the teachings on Chainsaw use. I have a lot of land that needs to be cleaned up .trees over roads and such I can do it with confidence and safety because of the years watching your channel.
Humber made motorcycles as well, up to 1935, I have a 1926 350 model. They made cycles from 1868 and continued with cars for many more years, up to the Humber Sceptre in 1976.
Your wright about the small Dead trees , they can be tricky When vI lived in Ohio We had Ash Borer real bad . The whole woods on my property was full of standing dead trees . Lots of work and fire wood
Buckin, brother, what a great tip on that wedge!!! I will be using that idea for sure!! A great teacher you are friend😊😊 THANKS VARTAN for the use of your property for content!!!
Your right there all different every time hey I used your dowel idea for axe handle repair to install a handle on a bow im building couldn’t figure out how I was going to do it and I saw that video it should work thanks again be safe man .
If you want a nearly tree to cut, come to mn it even scares me. ! And I have learned alot from you Buckin I looked at it came up with the game plan and said No Monster Rotten treer threatening our Snowmobile Trail !
Funny, I was literally just explaining to my 19 year old son yesterday why the small trees can be a problem when they are leaning the wrong way and how you can end up with no room for your bar and wedge. The wedging trick was new to me though, I will be modifying one of my wedges in short order. Thanks Billy Ray! 🤩
You will have the opportunity of a lifetime to see Buckin live falling trees on your property. I have been falling trees and cutting firewood for over fifty years and he is the best I have ever watched. The whole channel is a buzz about your property and looking forward to seeing magic done with his talents. Blessings my friend to you and your family. 🙏♥️👍
@@martyrutter3630 To say I’m excited would be an understatement, I’ve been on cloud 9. I don’t know what to do with myself I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve waiting and anticipating Christmas Day. If it wasn’t for this great community of supporters it wouldn’t be possible. I Thank you all for that…
Buckin' makes those cut up wedges intentionally as part of a well thought out plan. I make those accidentally by snagging the corner of the wedge with my chain on full squirt. We are not the same. 🧐
Such a small amount of hinge wood holding that tree was amazing especially when you look at the condition of the tree. I have watched it a couple of times, that was some good video. 👍
Great wedging trick. Having encountered such situations first hand has given me a full appreciation for the practical things you teach us, Buckin, thanks!
ill be honest i love the videos you make and the care you take when cutting most people dont understand one thing about trees most times the big ones arent the dangerous ones because you have room for good heavy hinge and wedges and all but the small ones are killers most that die in the woods are more often because small trees they dont take them as a big threat because its just a small tree and they make sloppy cuts and boom they have a tree on their head small trees are more dangerous
i was on wildland fire hand crews and ran saw. we carried our saws on our shoulders everywhere in every type of ground and brush.... just remember to keep that collar popped...fund stuff! stay blessed bro! and be safe out there
Nice educational video that ole car at vartans is nice when you tapped on that metal on the car the newer vehicles don’t sound solid like that . I like those red and white wedges you was using hard to find those here in southwest Nova Scotia nobody stocks in the stores around here be safe !
Small alders seem to be one of the worst since they can easily break off and fall the wrong direction.. Gotta be careful with them. Good to see you Buckin!
There's no situation that's exactly alike, so every tree that you fell is another experience. Like you said take your time, look up, look around, listen you know what to is essentially going to happen, but sometimes one inconceivable minor detail can change the sequence of things and that's where you make decisions about your situation fast.
Funny thing is I actually have a wedge like that but it was because I hit it with the chain and just kept it. Works great. Your video about cutting a leaning tree was a huge help for me. I never thought about cutting the top wood on the back cut 1st to get it to lean into itself like you do. I was always fighting it and now I have used your technique on a bunch of trees and it works amazing. Thanks man.
Says he doesn't see a reason for the non traditional notches and proceeds to do a non traditional notch. (Kinda) He is just like my dad over 40 years in the business and hates all things new lol. No hate love ya bill ray. Old school guys are the heart of it all. I find myself watching Billy more than anyone these days. Love the way he makes these videos. I still use many old school tricks passed down from the old man. And everyday I defend my new stuff haha.
Not a feller by trade . But talk about a punky tree that would make me nervous . In general what i have learned is ( FELLING CUT ) In general i would use a under cut 9 out out of 10 times , over cut only if i have to. Over cut may not sit over the way you want it to , i have had that happen to many times Good video.
Thanks for showing this buckin. I only really cut on my own property but most of my trees are between 10-20 inches in diameter. That being said most are between 80 and 100 ft tall. I have plenty of sketchy situations where there’s no room to control them with confidence. Nice work with the wedge mod!! I’m going to trim a couple of mine just like you did there
I did the same as helped my mom to clear two residental plots during this winter. Smallest side leaner I wedged just 9,5inch blue spruce close to house, thought l wasn't in hurry as I didn't work for salary just built up firewood store 😊
I can attest to the smaller trees being a bigger issue than the "Big" trees. I come across small pines that are 80 foot up and only 6 to 8 inches in diameter. I haven't perfected my back cut first setup yet. But I do have a question in your circumstance. Why not take the saw out to leave room for the wedge?
Question: Why not make your face cut, bore cut (horizontal) towards the back of the tree at the center of your hinge, pop a wedge in from behind, then cut both sides away from the wedge (cut to the side of the wedge) leaving the remaining hinge? You pound the wedge in as necessary and the back of the tree is never unsupported. And once you've cut the to the wedge, you can double up on wedges on either side of the first wedge. Does that make sense??
I just made some yard signs today with a paint marker lookin for some small tree jobs, been emlloyed 22yrs an these past yr or 2 have been insane, the ol' wages just aint cuttin the mustard like they have my entire adult life. What gives? Anyone know what happened? Awesome car by they way! Hole in the floor is to ditch the evidence lol
I spent 9 hours in a tree today and here I am eating my dinner at 8pm watching you cut down trees. 😂 I have a problem. 🤷♂️
Happens to the best of us
You created a tremendously awesome lifestyle buddy :)

@@PimSchoutenthank you. ✌️
9h holy smokes. Do you have marketing tips for a beginner?
Thanks for the education, Buckin’! Trimming the wedge never occurred to me. That’s going to be extremely helpful when I’m cutting later this summer.
Buckin, I watch how you cut.
Intensely. The notch, the crown, holding wood, the hinge, the plates. Not cut up.

That was a textbook lesson on small trees with some risk where it goes. The tapered wedge is a good one to have in the pouch. Thanks.

I cut about a 26” Red Oak years ago that stood up like that, went back in barely knicked the grain and down she came.

Would be a nice comparison between the 86er and a 390.
The 390s are great runners and not that much heavier than the 72 chassis.
Thanks you for axe handle I have received it
Done that accidentally years ago . But I cut it with the saw and use that wedge a lot now. Lol
Humber cars were produced in Coventry uk
