I'm absolutely shocked. I thought Will was a partner in the business. I mean with out him Alex would have floundered his first year.

I am truly saddened Will is moving on. He's become such a staple of the channel, it's like the butter to this channel's proverbial bread. Alec himself is a magnificent host and wonderful person to watch, but the dynamic between the two is, flawless. It'll be a sad day when Will leaves, but PLEASE, schedule collaborations now and again. Much respect from a long time fan of the channel.

I've been wondering if there is friction here too because Will honestly gets more screen time than Alec these days anyway and he's given free reign to make whatever personal projects he wants. I have a feeling he either doesn't like the direction of the channel or feels that the other business is taking over. Plus with Alec getting married he seems more disconnected from the channel than ever these days. Just assumptions but this whole move seems strange to me.
@@fractalaudio4956 will is young, and I assume unnatached, there's no reason to think he'd want to settle down permanently yet, he has dreams and ambitions, maybe he wants to go live in a Japanese mountain to learn from some wise old knife maker or something :).
Alex is getting more and more grown up by the day, which is the good, but leads to one being more tied down to the good stuff you have, Vs the potential good stuff in the future
Wouldn't be surprised if that's what lead to the rift with Sam back in the uk.
Alec wanted to go places (like America) but Sam had much stronger roots and couldn't be following him.
They seem to be parting on much better terms than that though:)

@@snarf552000 I get the feeling that the whole 'Steele' branding shows that this has always been Alec's channel and business. Will is probably seeing the revenues and wants a bigger piece of them. Lets not forget he is a bladesmith at heart and probably wants to spend more time on projects that he loves.
The positive for us? We get more content to watch (hopefully!)

It's weird, we all started watching Alec on his own, here in the UK. Then he sold out & moved to the US & suddenly there was the stranger called Will in the videos with Alec; who was this guy, where did he come from, would he be as entertaining as the English guy we'd all already grown to love?
Two years later and we're all sad to see Will go, wondering what Alec is gonna do & how his company can survive without Will!

Yeah I’m not 100% sure if that’s a very wise choice, unless he is being encouraged to move along. Hopefully this is well thought-out idea. I wish him the best, but I see a lot of his fans dropping off as far as UA-cam, he doesn’t have as good of a stand-alone video entertainer persona as Alec does. Lots of the people here, like myself, have been watching Alec for ages, I love to see Will around, but if he is basing his solo activities of off the UA-cam crowd right now, I get the feeling that is going to drop, and I hope he doesn’t disappear like Sam

I can't believe that Will is moving on. I can't believe how quickly I went from thinking, "Who the hell is this guy?" to thinking "What the hell are you going to do without him?" Also, has it really been two years already??? I am glad to see this hammer get its day. I've been waiting for this project since the beginning.
Who is going to do all the grinding and hand sanding now? (most of the work it seems)

my heart literally just sank hearing this. Will was an already respected blacksmith in the community before he met Alec, but the two of them are an iconic duo, and i do not like hearing that they're drifting apart. :(
I am both incredibly proud of Will for striking out on his own, forging his own path... and saddened that the partnership is changing. You two have been a joy to watch grow together. You’re both so young, have grown so much, and yet have so much wisdom. All blessings to you both. I look forward to seeing more from you both. Thank you for the last couple years!!!!!!!
This is the most heartbreaking episode since Will broke the sword breaker. Will has become as much as the channel as Alec.

This show became so much better when will came on. He brings so much technical skill to the builds and a ehole lot of comedy to go with it.
By my calculations, that gives us 89 days between now and when he leaves. So I'm thinking that you should be able to do a final 178 part series building a Damascus pen knife or something and it'll only require you to push out 2 videos a day. Deal? 👌😜 Also, we need some more ultimate mixed-nut trick shots.

Right?! It's amazing to see how challenges were overcome with simple tech compared to the super high tech stuff we have now. The simplistic and highly effective mechanics are so satisfying.
Not gonna lie, as far as entertainment goes, you two have tremendous chemistry. I totally know Will wants to step out into his own - as he should. But I know I watch less of Alec when it's just one of them and not both. Together, you guys are special.
But as I told an former co-worker of mine whom we we did incredible work together, he had an offer to make more money elsewhere and I told him to go. Take care of his family. Sometime you have to let the partnership go.
Shame on Discovery network or Netflix to not just pay for a series of this. An easy investment for a few episodes. These dudes have better chemistry than most shows like this and they actually do the work.

It'd be great to see these two develop theirs skills into compliments. I'll bet there are things Will is better at than Alec, and I believe they'll have a cooperative working relationship for the rest of their lives. As a mentor, the greatest gift you can receive is for one of your prodigies to surpass you.

Not sure what he is REALLY like, but on camera Will seems like a very kind-hearted and abiding person with great chemistry on the channel together with Alec. I hope that collaborations can continue! I will miss seeing him, but I wish him the great success that he so richly deserves and all the great rewards that standing solid for one's self brings a man.

Will's talent is going to get him where he wants to go. Alec may have the drive and the showmanship and the business-sense, but Will is a superb crafstman.
Been telling him that for years. About time he realize that he can be MUCH bigger than Alec.
Both have equal talent just different people bring their talents together. Both are awesome craftsman. Both have a lot more talent than I ever had.

If you paid attention to his Instagram, he's been complaining for ages about how lame this channel is and want to do something better. Something like Kyle Royer, educational and tons of beautiful knives.

They sell pressure washer sand blasting kits. Would make this project much easier.
