I am 9 months pregnant and my husband is being let go from his job, and not in a smooth fashion. I’ve been so mad lately and not attending church, and when I do attend I can feel that my heart is not truly there with Him. All I can say in my prayers lately is “help” Thats all that comes out. I’ve had thoughts of opening the Bible but every time I feel something pushing me not to. I know that I’ve been letting the enemy win for months. I needed this video.
Praying for you sweet mama 🙏 “May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you His favor and give you His peace” Numbers 6:24-26
I'm praying for you! 🙏
Praying for you! May you remember His saving love and may the Holy Spirit dwell within you and bring you peace. I feel as though psalm 89:2 is key for you here, I don't know you so this may be a shot in the dark but I pray that Gods word can rouse you in a loud and deafening world. God Bless you and your family xx
"For I have said, “Goodness and lovingkindness will be built up forever;
In the heavens [unchangeable and majestic] You will establish Your faithfulness.” (Psalm 89:2- AMP edition)
The Word has ALL of the answers. Thank you ❤️
Sometimes that all you can do is pray HELP, and that’s okay God knows where you are. He sees you and he knows your situation. Just keep thanking God for ALL your situations! Give thanks and be grateful for everything… I mean everything. Open a Bible app on your phone and just listen if you can’t read right now, it’s the devil that wants you to put the Bible down . So defeat him and turn on the word and then turn on Christian music. Surround yourself with Jesus !!! Trust me your attitude will change!!! Keep the faith my friend! We hv all been there and God hears even your whispers !! Blessings and all good things to you and your family!!!
Shayla,
My mother-in-law is in the hospital right now as her MS is progressing. She had decided to use MAID to 'end her suffering'. My husband, lead by God, shared his heart with her last night regarding God's heart and desire for her. This morning we received a message from her stating that she has taken MAID off the table and is going to continue to fight. I found your video this morning. The scriptures that you shared are a gift from God and I have written them down to share with her today. The song that you played at the end of your video touched my heart and soul. Thank you for all that you do. ♡
Oh, I'm praying for your MIL! May the Lord be with and help her!
You are such a good example of a Christian wife and mother. Thank you for sharing your life!
Such a good one! Thank you! As I have recently walked through a crisis of faith with my 16 year old son these past two years, I have often said, “faith is a practice.” I think we’ve finally made it through and he is developing his own beautiful relationship with the Lord. But it really does require a practice of reminding ourselves who God is.
As you were mentioning seeking advice from someone who truly knows, I was reminded of Job’s well meaning but ignorant friend, Elihu, who offered him terrible advice in his grief. I have felt convicted lately that I want to speak life to my family and friends and sometimes this means reminding them of God’s promises while other times it means staying quiet and listening.
I feel most of the people that I have had in my life who have walked away from God decided to make God complex for their lives rather than having a childlike simple faith. They want excuses for their lifestyles and know God doesn't agree with those things, so they push him away. That or they don't like how His children have treated others, that it turns them off too. It is hard for them to seek him out when all they see is their own hurt that they won't give to Him.
Beautiful video!!
I've been looking at how trauma, specifically childhood trauma, can affect health, mental, and physical. My daughter has been going through health hardships lately, and we've had to look at our own parenting mistakes in her life since she's now an adult (20). Much I think was because she's gone undiagnosed her entire childhood and pubescent years with autism. Still, it's humbling to heal wounds from our own childhood and even harder the ones you've inflicted as a parent. Our expectations and family values were rigid for our neurodivergent children, and though we've changed our outlook and parenting style, we can't change the experience our eldest children had; we can only try to heal and walk alongside as supportive as we can be in their current state in life. Her medical difficulties, as challenging and life changing as they've been, have also been a blessing in that we can recognize how to parent with more grace and patience, and be self aware of our own traumas and triggers. Some days can still be gray and defeating, though. Thanks for sharing, Shayla!
I can so relate to this. I think we could talk for hours, Friend! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you 🥺🥹 I'm at such a place. I've been here a long time but I've also been a believer for a long time, I love the Lord so much. I'm just so tired and I'm at a loss. Someone sent a song to me the other day and it said something like, I'm planting a seed of faith in my field of doubt. That's what I'm trying to do.
Beautiful video, beautiful message, and beautiful music. Carrying this with me.
🤗🤗🤗
I so appreciate your willingness to share your life like this. It's such a blessing to me and I'm sure so many others.
Your home is beautiful. I too live in an unfinished fixer upper so I get it!
Thank you!
Love this one!! You are so right, people can fail us, abandon, us , but God never leaves us !! I have learned this so much in my lifetime!! God bless.
Thank you!
From a recent study of the Book of Job: "When things are going well - Praise God! When things are not going well - Praise God! In *all* things - Praise God!"
Love this. No one understands the pain kids with trauma have. Life is really hard on them. I’m raising some it’s absolutely heartbreaking!!!!
Any suggestions
@@brendahowell5946 As someone who once was a traumatised child- I have to say that consistency is a major help...I have also found as an adult, ensuring they (indeed, we all as children of God) find and explore areas for awe in their lives- the beautiful sky, leaves, animals they are passionate about, art- anything that they find awe-inspiring, I'd really recommend paying attention to as it's where God calls to us and how we can practise gratefulness and worship Him and His creation.
Thank you, Shayla. I have prayed through these hardships for over 38 years and take persecution because I wait in faith, imperfect faith, for God's answers. I am tired, weary, worn from the waiting. I will continue to journal and pray. Thank you for the Scripture included in your devotional. I greatly appreciate you and the information you share.💚💚💚
Beautiful message. I think that people (myself included) often push God away (rather than walk away) in order to not be abandoned. Kind of like "you can't fire me, because I QUIT" LOL. People do this to people, too. When we have felt abandonment, it is really hard to see why ANYONE would want to bother with us (even God) and therefore we push away (quit) rather than suffer through abandonment again. But that does not help us mature. And besides, God is not ever going to 'fire us', we are way too important to his design !!!!!
HAPPY DAY IN MAY! Bless THE LORD. I am a woman of GOD. I am nothing without HIM. I talk to HIM ALL DAY LONG EVERYDAY. I keep my relationship in the good and the bad BY KEEPING HIS WORD on my mind and looking at HIS WILL DAILY IN SCRIPTURE. We have been married 36/42 yrs. We have two son's and two grandblessings. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home and recipes. ENJOY YOUR WEEK. STTB*SHARED TO THE BURGH*Pittsburgh PA
Trauma recovery has been key to being able to truly connect to God and identify the enemy ❤
If you haven't listened to any Paul Washer sermons, please do. He put a new perspective on Christian living for me and my husband. When we face our hardships I know I'm in battle and I'm going to have scars, but I don't want to go to heaven without scars. Thank you so much for everything you do. Your videos help me alot. We just recently moved out of state and we are renting a house while building our forever home and I homeschool our kids. You are a blessing in every video thank you sooooo much Shayla.
Thank you for this video. Very insightful. I am not a practising Christian but I am gravitating nearer. I see how believers feel guided through good and tough times. My later mother was baptised in her 50s and the church was a lifeline for her. She believed until she passed. xx
Very true words, Shayla. My therapist is helping me work thru my past trauma. Learning to be the wife and mother that God would have me to be in spite of the example I was given is an hourly challenge. But I feel His work in me, and I pray that my children will come thru unscathed!
I love your kitchen, btw! Keep the vids coming!
Yay for Mountain Mama 👏🫶
I've watched this video about three times now. I've been recovering from childhood trauma since our daughter was born almost two years ago. All the verses and encouragement you shared spoke so clearly to what I'm going through right now. I've been struggling with anxiety returning; a fear based in that lack of love. It's such a conscious struggle to tell my mind and my body that I am safe in God's arms and he loves me. I'll continue watching that section of verses on repeat! ❤
Hello DustAndGrace, I'm sad for your trauma, but thankful to be a part of your healing journey. It takes time. I have been using the YouVersion app to help me as I walk my healing path and it helps, check it out! Blessings to you, Friend!
This was one of my favorite videos!!! All of your advice scripture based. Just in awe of how faith you the daughter you are to our Yaweh! Just so beautiful 😍 Praise God for forgiving all of our shortcomings, things said, pain, hurt, traumas. He was there holding our hands. 🙌 😢. This was pure and so beautiful 😻
The parenting part of your chat was much needed!! Thank you!🙏🏼
Amen! Thank you. I sooooo needed to hear this today. Bless you.
You are welcome, I'm glad it was helpful. Thank you, Katherine!
I’ve been through a lot of trauma and l am unloved and unwanted by my parents but lm ok with that. I thank god that l have love from my precious girls. ❤️🙏🍀
I am fairly new to your podcast and loving it!! Thank you for this… I also need this today! God bless you!! 💜
Thank you!
God never gives up on us!!❤
I watched this last evening and felt so heard. As someone who has received advice from people who haven't experienced what I have, I understand how injurious it can be. Thank you. Love from Kenya 🇰🇪
You are so welcome. Thank you for letting me know. God Bless!
Looking forward ❤
Thank you for speaking to this. I just found out I’m not pregnant today. We have been trying for almost 2 years for baby #4. I found myself so angry and questioning why He would give us this desire if he wasn’t going to fulfill it but your video helped refocus me. Thank you
I'm so sorry Brooke. I know how painful that can be. Yes, we just must keep looking up and trusting.
I’m new to your channel and already can tell I will love your content. Thank you for this message today. It’s timely. I’ve been struggling to stay close to God as I’ve been faced with recent challenges. So, thank you. You’ve blessed me today.❤
I absolutely love your kitchen. It might not be finished like you said but it's so beautiful ❤️
Thank you!
I agree, even messy there's a real-life peaceful ambience that comes through. Its all the loving touches as wife and mother.
Also our house needs a lot of work and its not worth investing in any cosmetic changes. We've made it "livable" the last 14 years, but it's time to move on. Its definitely not functional for the kind of housekeeping you show, and I'd like to do. Next place will also need updating so it will be living in another buiding site, but hopefully it won't go on and on. I'll admit in my 50s I'd just like to be in a place that's "finished".
Amen ❤
If you do have a coffee maker, a good way to clean it is brew a full pot of vinegar. As the vinegar goes through just like the water does when you make a pot of coffee, it cleans and sanitizes the inside 🙂
Hello! I used to do this when we had coffee makers, but it didn't work. They would still get slime build up 😟!
I really enjoy looking at your cook ranges. The electric/lng and the wood burning stove.
Thank you thank you for sharing your heart and your home ❤ Your kitchen is fabulous! It’s so bright and open. ALL your houseplants make me smile 🪴 I love how you take the time to share beautiful truths about our Heavenly Father and how important our heart posture is as a homemaker, wife, and mother!! I need to listen to this DAILY! Thank you ☺️
Thank you so much!

Thank you so much for your videos! I get so much inspiration and motivation from watching you work in your kitchen especially.
I'm so glad! Thank you for letting me know!
Isn't it amazing just how many verses you could use to relate to this topic.
One thing that I have noticed when teaching about God is that I learn so much while preparing my classes. Even if it's just a reminder for me. So you're helping others and helping yourself as well.
I do love what you're doing to make a difference for so many of us. Thank you!❤
Hello! Yes, this channel and creating the videos and devotions has helped me so much to find strength, and help me heal!! Thank you for sharing!!
Crying listening to you speak scripture over us- over me. I so needed to hear this. Thank you for sharing this video!! You are such a force for the kingdom! ❤
Thank you for telling me, I love to hear that this has helped you. God is good, He loves you!
Thank you, am comforted!❤ God bless you
Thank you Shayla! Looking forward to your kitchen video!

Ohh unrelated-totally but I love your outfit in this! Love them comfy jumpsuits or overalls whatever you call them lol! And my dear mama YOU are worthy of all the love in the world. Thanks for this video and insight. Also is there a possibility of a Playlist link? We all love your tunes! That would be pretty cool? ✌️
You’re are a remarkable woman my friend. Thank you for these encouraging words! Love your dress btw? You and I share so many similarities. Including style. Love it! 🤗
Thank you so much!
Thank you, for all the lovely Bible scriptures that you quoted. Such a good reminder that God is still here in the midst of our darkest times.

This was such an encouraging video! God bless you!🌷
You are such a great thorough cleaner!
So encouraging Shayla. Thanks ☺️
I don’t really know if I want to write or even know what to write exactly. We have been going through some really hard times and for about a year now I have been going over my limits daily. My husband is away for work 12 hours a day. And I am home with a 12 month old and 5,5 year old (whom has autism and I homeschool). We live in a tiny apartment that makes it impossible to even do dishes or talk when the baby is napping. My husband and I have recently moved our bed to the living room and the apartment is on the third floor, no elevator. Strollers aren’t allowed to stay in the hallway so it’s a big hustle trying to leave the house and so I just don’t if I don’t absolutely have to. My 5,5 year old has many meltdowns daily and I’m just insanely overstimulated. It’s not that I want to walk away from God, it’s that my body is literally failing and we will be in this situation at least until next January. God doesn’t promise that we’ll make it out of situations like this without loss. I could have a heart attack (I’m starting to have issues). My husband is beyond exhausted too and I fear for his life every day he leaves because he gets distracted in the car. I’m terrified of being in this situation for much longer because of what may happen and I just feel like I can collapse any day. I am traumatizing my 5,5year old because I am yelling, slamming doors and things out of overstimulation and pure desperation. How is it that God would want this to happen to my child, my husband, my family? And I mean, even I know he doesn’t want that. I fear the consequences of this insanity and it doesn’t feel worth it.
Ashely, as I read this it reminded me of myself around 11 years back. I can vividly remember how it feels to feel this way. I too have a child on the spectrum. The only way to get through is to take things minute by minute. You are in survival mode. Try to find moments to do a little something for yourself, a cup of tea, crochet, something to decompress. With every pain, take it to the Lord and believe He cares, because He does! There is something He has for you in this situation, ask Him to reveal it to you. Ask Him to help you. I would also get a full physical done, bloodwork and all. Make sure you are not dealing with thyroid issues, which are extremely common after having babies. They can make you feel this way. Also, post partum depression can set in for up to 5 years after having a baby.
Lastly, I know it is hard, but you gotta start working on a list to post in your home. List your blessings and everyday look at the list. When you are overwhelmed look at the list. Post Jeremiah 29:11 in your home where you will see it.
I just finished a video yesterday, I don't know when it will be posted but keep an eye out for it, if you enable notifications on my channel here you should get a notice when it goes live. It's called "Rainy Kitchen Day". I plan to publish it in a week or two.
Also, I have a playlist with videos where I share encouraging faith topics for mama's like you. Maybe some of these might help you this week. I have prayed for you, Ashley. May the Lord be with and comfort and heal your broken heart, and may He give you a new song of praise to sing soon!

@@mountainhomesteadfamily Thank you thank you thank you. Thank you for taking the time to read and taking the time to reply even. Thank you for helping me with a prayer. It’s probably what I needed most. And thank you for all these videos, I am watching them. Thank you for your health check up suggestions. Everything you wrote has pretty much already been shown to me but I didn’t want to see. And now your message has finally made it more clear. Thank you, for making me feel less alone.
Ty Shayla, this has blessed me beyond words. You are so gifted in explaining God and his words. I wait everyday to see if a video has popped up from you.
I also love rainy days. Ty for all the scripture and for not giving up and sharing your experiences. Be blessed.
I'm so glad to hear my video has helped you, thank you for telling me, Carol! Blessings to you as well!
Really look forward to all your videos. ❤

Love your channel! Such a blessing to my heart ❤️
I'm so glad!
I love this, I really need to get my kitchen more organized because my countertops are constantly cluttered with junk. You always inspire me with your setup. I’m so glad I found your channel.
I just started reorganizing mine the other day and it always feels great to do so. It’s easier to find things I need. I wish my fridge could get to that point as well😂. Our fridge is so small it’s always packed full and hard to keep track of what’s in it.
Awe, thank you for telling me this!
Thanks!
Thank you SO much!!! We really appreciate you!

Thank you for this! I heard you mention "generational curses". I know this is a common idea in the Christian world, but I don't believe it is Biblical. Ezekiel chapter 18 discusses this- especially verses 19-32. Thank you again for your content!
Hello, thank you for commenting! "Generational Curses" are not a common "idea" in the Christian world, they are a very real thing and spoken of in Deuteronomy 5:9. Ezekiel chapter 18 is one of my favorite readings as I believe it is speaking of a new promise from God where He is extending his mercies and grace to those who will receive it and do right.
Perhaps there are differing meanings here of generational curses. I do remember Christ saying that children are not cursed because of something their parents did. So, like the lame who were seen as cursed because of the sinfulness of their parents, but I do think there are habits formed that sometimes are passed on for generations. The pattern of physical or verbal abuse, a pattern of abandonment, or of drunkenness. People often imitate the patterns of their parents or those by whom.they were raised, often not recognizing the problems with them. We break generational curses by allowing ourselves to be vulnerable enough to recognize the problematic pattern we experienced and perhaps have succumbed to so as to revert it and stop it (so that we don't pass that on).
Also, what Shayla said 😊
@@mountainhomesteadfamily I understand what you are saying, but Jesus did away with that. That was the Old Testament. That was the Old law. God's grace and mercy covers that
Generational curses are absolutely a real thing. It’s not like a curse cast on your family, but it is behavioral patterns passed down through generations that are hard to break. For example in my family I had an angry abusive grandfather. My dad wasn’t abusive in the same way but was passive aggressive and angry, I carry the same patterns in my temper versus having patience and gentleness. Growing in the fruits of the spirit can help break generational curses and God can and will bring you out of them but you have to recognize and acknowledge their existence.
Have you looked into a Berkey?
Yes, I think they are so ugly, lol!
@@mountainhomesteadfamily Lol
@@mountainhomesteadfamily Wellness Mama talks about a housewife filter that filters water at the main source. I think that's pretty expensive... a investment let's say.
Your kitchen looks like a REAL kitchen where you are actually cooking, fermenting, sprouting, etc. Better Homes & Garden is NOT real life!
Thank you 😊
