    Another thing to think about… you’re right. That Titus woman for the younger women to look up to is hard to find and not many of us have one. For some of us, you are that woman and we greatly appreciate your presence ❤️

      Oh! That is so kind of you to say. Thank you, Maria. I have been hearing comments like yours more and more often, and being a Titus 2 older woman is definitely a position I do not take lightly. I pray for wisdom every time I make a video and it's a great honor to know the Lord has allowed me to help. Thank you for telling me. To God be the Glory.

    I'm past the stage you are in.. I'm 60 and my kids are grown up.. But I enjoy watching you and *remembering*. I was a homeschooling homemaker for over thirty years and loved it! Now I babysit my six grandkids every day and help homeschooling them. It's a blessing.

    You hit the nail on the head with this one. One of the least supportive places I’ve found as a homeschooling mother have been churches. When you are seeking a Titus 2 woman to have as an example oftentimes you get a bunch of defensive older women, who rarely have close relationships with their adult children or are unmarried and childless who don’t promote traditional roles within the home. They make all the excuses and try to guilt you for staying home. When you are struggling they comment that you can use the public schools or go get a job easily. And the defensiveness when confronted with the word of God is just mind blowing.
    We are also a lower income family, I haven’t found opportunities to work from home or skills to sell yet but we budget fairly well with not a huge amount of debt but I have learned (as you mentioned in another video) that debt isn’t always bad.
    Thank you for being an example for us.

    • @Goldiloxandthe3bears
      @Goldiloxandthe3bears 2 місяці тому

      I found that is wasn’t necessarily the church that was unsupportive but the congregation that couldn’t understand why. It was as if their hearts couldn’t hear what was being said over the pulpit and they spread so much judgement but the church itself was very supportive of families and homeschooling. They teach and it is up to us to hear.

    • @KatG5286
      @KatG5286 2 місяці тому

      @@Goldiloxandthe3bears I see what you’re saying but to me the church is the congregation. The church is the body of Christ and each church congregation is a part of that. If by the church you mean the pastorate then yeah for the most part there is some support there but even in many churches pastors don’t preach it for fear of stepping on toes.

    Love this! I have continually tried to work while being married and then having our first child because of other people pushing me to “help” my husband, but I came to notice that my marriage struggled way more while trying to work and carry the burden, in my mind, to make enough. When I wasn’t working I felt happier, my marriage was stronger and I had more peace even though we struggled more financially. God is teaching me in this moment to focus on raising my 22 month old to love and serve God, as well as teach her how to take care of the home and clean! She watches everything I do and copies me already at this age, so I know it’s crucial for me to be a good example to her. And we have another one on the way too that I need to focus on once he’s here! It can get very discouraging and I often think of going back to work but I believe my babies are so much more important right now! It’s definitely a test of faith and trust in God to provide and do whatever I can to help save the money! This is just my personal experience and I know every person’s situation is so different. But it’s so refreshing to see another mom working in the home and encouraging it when so many people don’t anymore…especially the homeschooling part which I plan to do bcs I myself was homeschooled most of my school years as well! So thank you🩷

    Thank you so much for this. My mother worked three jobs outside the home so I never really had an example to follow but I have always wanted to just be a home maker, to have a homestead, raise my kids, make a nice home and my husband happy and possibly home school. I don't have a homestead but I have a garden and I appreciate your comment about neuro-divergent families as we are one. It made me feel like you were speaking to me. Thank you for being such a great example and I thank God for allowing me to find you.

    I truly love these videos. I'm learning to be a biblical wife. And learning to care for my family the best I can, and healthiest. I love the biblical teachings! My mother passed away when I was 17 and she didn't teach me much, and wasn't a great example of who to be. I stumbled upon your trad wife vs. Biblical wife. I absolutely love these videos! Glory to the Lord! God bless you and your family! I hope to homestead one day. But for now we live near Atlanta GA so im growing some veggies and composting. Eating better, reading the Bible everyday is really rewarding! God is so good. My husband and I came back to the Lord recently.❤❤❤ I can't wait to try some of your recipes! Thank you and God bless you and your family ❤🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

    I adored this video! Thank you for your content Shayla….please don’t change a thing! I watch you specifically because you have more experience and wisdom than me (the last thing I want to do is watch videos of someone my age, or younger, acting like they have it all together in their perfect modern homes). You are authentic, lovely and full of wisdom and your aesthetic and home and style is so beautiful and vibrant, unfinished edges and all! Because that is reality of living on a homestead, projects are never completely finished as more and more come up all the time. It’s part of the beauty of the lifestyle! We call it “rustic” on our mountain homestead over here ❤

    I'm an ex-christian, second generation homeschool momma, but I agree with sooo much if what you said in this video! Our society really has become less supportive of people managing their own home and interacting attentively with their children. Im thankful I had the chance to witness my own mom running a home but really wish she had been better able take care of her own needs too, maybe get a break more often. We can just be so hard on ourselves even when our family loved us, even when we know how awesome it is that we are to spend time nourishing our children.

    Thank you so much for this video. How true you are. Like you, I had many jobs working in the public before I married and had children. I am a homeschooler as well as a homesteader. I feel like being a mother and homemaker is the greatest thing I could do with my life. Yes, it is hard at times. But, of course the devil is right there deceiving women in thinking that being a mother/homemaker doesn't have much importance. So untrue. It is sad because this mindset is not only a deception in women who are not christians, but, that is how so many christian women think. I have many women in my own family who fall into that category and I have watched through the years how their family and marriage fell apart. Their children are grown and not serving the Lord. I am thankful that you are addressing this issue...God bless you and keep up the good work...Sherri-Payette Idaho

    I agreed with another commenter in that I come to your channel for having a wiser Titus woman to look towards for motivation and inspiration. I do think your channel might benefit from adding shorter videos with recipes.. I’m not a UA-camr so please take this with a grain of salt. But as I watched this video I did come away with inspiration. But my adhd brain went whoa! You can make sausage yourself? Let me search that, then I started thinking I have dairy goats as well I need to learn to make cheese! Etc etc. I have no idea how UA-cam works but if you linked videos at the end with recipes of yours I’d click them so fast! And on another note your home is so aesthetic I didn’t even notice things were unfinished

    You’re hilarious! 😆 I absolutely love your channel! It’s 8am, my hubby’s off to work, my kiddos are still asleep & you’re my go to for a perfect start to a relaxing, full day! You’re so encouraging! ❤️🙌🏼
    I’m a stay at home mom too! I’m 48. I also homeschool! 💃 I’m also a bit hippie 😉 My hubby says I’m hippie chic! 😂 I like things nice & I like things somewhat fancy! B U T, I’m down to earth & real 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m 100% a daughter of the one true king! But, I also like things that would be considered hippie 🤨 I don’t think I’ll ever stop listening to The Doors, or Led Zeppelin, but I absolutely love Christian music! Not all 😆 But I love worship music!
    I also have mushrooms throughout my decor & macrame everywhere! 😂 But I also have sparkly things everywhere! 🤨😅😆
    We’re a family of 5, 3 boys ages 21 (Pastor in training), 13 & 9! Just amazing kids! My hubby is a Deacon! I spend my days being a homemaker & all that entails! We’re very involved in our church! A local Baptist church! I was watching your video & agree so much with what you were saying! Especially the part about our most important roles are serving our family & all that entails! 😉 It’s hard sometimes! But we live very rurally! Somewhat off grid! We do have electricity though! But this life can be lonely at times. I feel like we’re constantly chasing our tails! Cooking, cleaning, homeschooling, animals, church, bed, repeat! Plus my car broke down a year ago! A really nice car we bought brand new in 2015! 🤷🏼‍♀️ I took such good care of it too! But apparently there’s around 30 computers in it & it’s a process of elimination! I think my hubbys gonna buy me a different/bigger vehicle in the meantime! So I don’t feel so trapped! I still have access to his car & our sons, but it’s not my pretty car ☹️ again, chic 😆😅
    But it’s been a rough few years! We bought a fixer upper home back in 2021. We were planning on moving from CA to WY. But our friend was selling her house in AZ & we couldn’t pass up the deal! We were planning on fixing it up & flipping it, but it’s so beautiful here, our views! But we’re still working on this house! It’s home for now! We’re content & appreciate this life God has blessed us with! 🙌🏼
    But anyways ADHD too 🤪 🐿️ Thank you so much for being a place I can come to, to relax & learn & get inspired! My 13 is now awake & he’s just sitting here contently watching your channel with me! We love it! 🙌🏼
    God Bless you & your family! Keep being you! Your videos are perfect! 👌🏻
    My UA-cam channel is called, “Our Busted Homestead” 😂😂😂 I’ve only made a couple videos, but they’re private, because they aren’t very good 😂😅 But you inspire me to keep at it! Maybe I’ll be able to have a little income too at some point… 🤷🏼‍♀️ Ya never know 😉✌🏼

      I made this comment to Shayla recently, too. I like the authenticity of her channel. Others that I used to like, have gotten too tv-ish. Like they have a set & stylist or something. And it gets boring. Where they used to be in the trenches, actually showing you how to do something real time, now they just stand in a corner & talk about it. Maybe it gets them more views, but I drift away. And its weird cuz I will still go back their first videos over & over but never tune in for the new stuff.

    I don't usually comment on videos but I want you to know that I appreciate you and enjoy your vids. I'm also a Christian homemaker. I go through phases with the type of videos I watch...sometimes I binge news and economics and other times it's homemaking etc. But I always feel such peace when I watch yours. I hope you're able to continue. Your family definitely comes first and we understand too. I like to listen to your wisdom while I cook and clean. Right now I'm washing several dozen eggs from our farm. You're keeping me sane 😅. God bless you! - Amber (wife of soon 20 years, homeschool mom of 18 years)

    I never comment. But I feel compelled to tell you how much I enjoy your videos. I am not married or have children. I definitely want you to keep making videos as your part time job. May I suggest you make “Day in the life” videos or “what I eat in a day” or “get ready with me”. These are extremely popular videos to watch. I think many people would enjoy these from you. Keep up the good work and many thanks!

    Thank you for this. You have said out loud what I have felt guilty for pondering about many years now when you spoke about a woman’s ministry in her own home. I feel sad that the present state of most American churches seem to be all business and I have a hard time supporting that. I also know that there are a lot of churches doing good things because they are business structured but myself and my husband do not feel at home in these churches. I was so inspired by a large figure such as Francis Chan stepping away from his own mega church and encourage others to start house churches. What money that would normally go into the building and salaries could now be spent on local and far away missions actually monetarily helping the very people we claim to pray for. I wish I could find such a church body in my own hometown.

    Personally I love long videos because I will normally have it playing as I do kitchen chores or other housework but I do see a lot of people complain in common sections ( Not in your channel comments specifically but just in general) when a video is over a certain length of time people complain that they don't have enough time to watch It.

    19:00 was hilarious 😂😂 thank you so much for sharing!!!! I love everything about your videos! A similar thing has been happening to my channel with dropping views/lack of income. But I've taken it as a sign not to care so much right now. To take some time off and just focus on enjoying my own family for now. My tiny channel absolutely doesn't make enough to genuinely help our family and it is more of a hobby, so I've been treating it as a hobby! I'm enjoying the peace that comes with not having the pressure to film every week and actually relax in my spare time.
    P.s. I've found I need to add much more vinegar than they recommend in recipes without renette!

    Such amazing and heavy things talked about in this today. The world is suffering, so true. The mothers role is unlike any other job. And we need to be at home. Our family is our ministry.
    What day of the week is your kitchen day and are kids doing school that day?
    Watching you deep clean your large stand mixer made me laugh!!! I have the same one (just in a different color) and I find it gets so gross every day. LOL I use it all the time for everything. I need to order the new cloth that you are using to get off all the dough and dried on "stuff". lol My kids always laugh because I named our stand Stan.
    You got me giggling- if you are old then I am old too. We are the same age. lol
    Always a great thing to see your video!!

    I love your videos and end up loving your devotions. If it helps I'm going to share why I don't watch some of your videos...it's because sometimes I'm afraid of the title 🙈. Sometimes your titles sound like "other" Christian infuencers who thrive on a business of shame and legalism. But I should know better by now that your videos are always full of grace and reality. You are the only homemaking account I follow specifically because I haven't found another that is as relaxed and gracious as yours. ❤

      Thank you for telling me! So with the titles, I have a program that helps me name my video's with keywords that will be found by the algorithm. A lot of us YT'ers are probably using the same program, lol! Thank you for giving this one a chance today. I strive to stay balanced here, validation and empathy are important to me to show because I know they can make or break a spirit in a bad way! Thank you again, Katie.

    Okay. When way back when when I was a daycare teacher very young there were still somehow twice. I'm going to tell you right now you can see visually see the difference in the children. They're more confident they're more relaxed. They know a parent always a phone call away. I don't care what religion you are. If you can do it and it is a sacrifice and it is a ministry you should have one parent stay home with a child. It is amazing your difference and that's just a smidge of the difference

    Kitchen day! I want one too. It would be fun. I love the beeswax tealights and really want to get some now, since I didn't know you could buy any (I am not a fan of the paraffin versions).
    You are right that there is no training for the housewife or the thought that it is a ministry.
    Oh it is not cool you were disheartened by your analytics and making it seem like certain videos aren't liked as much as others. I love all your videos. My only REALLY good video is me making a quilt but I am not going to just make quilts every video when I have so much more that I want to do. I barely have as many subscribers that you have and am just doing what I like to do, and I hope you continue to do what you love to share and do too! I have been thrilled with all that you make and put out! A few years ago I had another channel with some viral videos and I deleted them all by accident and lost everything as I didn't have it backed up and so I made a new channel but what I once had and worked hard on is gone forever. Those videos were posted ten years ago now, but that is life. . .nothing really lasts. Just know that what you do put out will impact people for the time that they are there, just as my once viral videos on this platform mattered to people at one point in time.

    • @mountainhomesteadfamily
      @mountainhomesteadfamily  2 місяці тому

      Thank you so much! I am looking at doing more shorter videos as a lot of my audience prefers that! Thank you for telling me. It's been a little confusing to figure out because my video's with the most views that brought the most subscribers are all around 40 minutes, so for awhile I started making longer content. But it is very helpful to know that my subscribers actually prefer shorter. BTW, when you say shorter are you meaning 20 minutes give or take, or do you mean even shorter than that?

    I enjoy your videos and have been happy to see your channel grow! I hope people will keep up with you as you share. One suggestion that might help is to maybe have a little more direction and cohesion to your videos? Sort of telling one story or focusing on a theme. I love seeing different scenes from around your beautiful house and homestead but I think it's helpful when you finish a video and leave with a particular message, instead of 'what did I just watch?' kind of feeling. Just a little constructive criticism, of course you know your audience best! ❤

      Hello! Thank you for the suggestion! Sadly, when I do videos on one topic they tank 😭. I've taken polls and my audience has requested a bit of everything in each video. Next week I will be focusing on one topic though! It will be about goats. 🥰

    I so relate to the needle in a hay stack, that's why I've come to youtube for women like you. A lot of the women in my church who are older are recently saved and therefore have lives or marriages, I'm so grateful God is redeeming, but they're not anything I want to model after or am encouraged by. I really appreciate you and your content. I've been specifically thinking of the one you did on 1950s ideals. Nowadays there's a lot of push that men should be helping out more and they're putting mental loads on women and all kinds of things... I was curious if you have a video on resentment? Or what are your thoughts on dividing labor?
    Also thank you for the notifications info, i thought you got notifications just by subscribing... and i laughed when you showed your house's edges ha ha i had never noticed before😊

    One thing to think about....probably many of your viewers are women JUST like you. & if they are talking about overwhelm, illnesses, overload, lots of kids, etc..then maybe there are certain 'seasons' that sitting down & watching videos is less likely to happen. this is the case for me. I actually had not gotten on the computer (excepting homeschool related) for over a week, because it is 'go' season here. TODAY, it is pouring rain & not many chores that need doing, can be done. So here I am being forced to relax LOL. And for the next few months, I will probably watch very little youtube at all. Then I catch up on all the videos I missed during the late fall & winter. I have actually been feeling like crawling the walls the past several days, there is so much going on, to do, and things waiting, waiting....I actually made myself lie down for an hour yesterday I was feeling so stressed!

    The devil says

    I'm late to comment, but albeit worth saying this: Christian channels are not being promoted by any social media. It is the devil working against you. Not anything you are or are not doing.
    Ask subscribers to like, comment, and share.
    Also understanding the workload of family, perhaps more frequent videos of just throwing up the camera on day to day, real life. Just ideas.
    God bless you and your family! ❤❤

    I've watched every single new video of yours (and plenty of old ones) since I found your channel maybe 6 months ago. I just wanted to say that I have gained so much knowledge and encouragement and REALLY enjoy the devotions. I'm basically still brand new (2 years) at homemaking, homesteading, and homeschooling and have dealt with some serious seasons of anxiety and overwhelmed. So, I just wanted to say thank you! Of course there are some differences in tactics, style, and age, but that has not kept me away from your videos.
