What people don’t know about Voivode is that it actually could negate a lot more than it normally does. When activating something like Ash Blossom, for example, the opponent would first declare Ash’s activation, then pay its cost (sending itself to the GY). By the time that is done, Voivode’s conditions then check to see if Ash met them; because the opponent activated "Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring", and now there is an "Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring" in the GY, Voivode is allowed to negate the activation, as it checks after the cost is paid. This also works on monsters in the GY that activate their effects there (BA monsters) or Lonefire-style effects (SE monsters) for example. Be sure to read your colons, people, and check the text properly!
The trick with Voivode is that you're never tributing your own monsters to summon it. You use ghost on your opponent's turn with Sucker and Zombie World to tribute your opponent's guys for it on their turn.
@@BramLastname yeah i mean vampire’s not a super powerful deck, that’s true. voivode’s really the best thing to summon with ghost on your opponent’s turn

As an enjoyer of all things zombie: people like voivode because it feels really good when you actually get to make him do his thing. Like, you're already playing vampires, if you wanted to play with good cards you'd use a different deck that doesn't
Voivode is not a Turn 1 monster. It's meant to push for game on Turn 2 or 3, or as a potential interrupt on your opponent's turn (with Ghost) by stealing resources from their graveyard. That it negates their effects doesn't really matter because youre always likely to overlay them for Sheridan or Zombie Vampire The negate effect also works on handtraps like Ash and Veiler, as theyre in the grave at resolution The two tribute requirement would be a pain, but cards like Domain and Sorcerer and Sucker allow you to bring it out with less cost or no cost at all
@@mrg2155not the randoms, the vampire community. Jesse even said he’s never tried the deck before, it’s not intuitive to a new player that you’re tributing two of your opponents monsters on their turn to normal summon it. It’s a massive interruption that plays around protection effects and insulates you from hand traps / grave extension
7:11 most people do not do the combo correctly. Paired with Vampire Sorcerer, you normal summon without tribute for free on your opponent's turn. 1 NS vampire Ghost pitching bat/dog; add vampire sorcerer, send bat/dog. 2. Activate the first bat/dog, sending sorcerer, add voivode/ spell trap 3 activate the opposite, sending Ghost to grave, add voivode/spell trap. 4. Continue onwards. If you're opponent has interruptions, you banish both Ghost and Sorcerer to summon voivode, take two monsters and convert on Undead Vampire.
On top of that, Vampire players would often have Uni-Zombie as another normal summon since their two effects to dump from hand and/or deck can get vampires or zombie world rolling (depending on what's in hand)
This was my first deck ever in yu gi oh, I didn't know what I was doing kept cancelling my effects with my own ashe blossom, its super cool though and I pulled a Rainbow Zombie Vampire Lord without even knowing how rare it was until recently.
I enjoy vampires, it was the first deck I crafted and had a lot of fun reaching diamond with them because of my unorthodox method of using them (aka, didn't watch a combo Vampire combos video and only did what zombie combos i could with the decent knowledge i had). Now, I would love for them to be made better, especially since there is a brand new Zombie support card coming, but I know that ain't happening. All we would need is a link 4 vampire that has all the best of the archetype's abilities. LP gain for damage, special summon destroyed opponent's monster to your field, and the last one could be one of these three options 1. add Fraulein to hand every end phase from deck or gy (maybe banished too) could him "Vampire Suitor" in this case with the idea he's the strongest and there for the best fit to wed for the young vampire princess 2. Negate the effect of 1 card activated on field and destroy all cards of that type in your opponent's hand and on their field. (an evolved version of the "let your opponent choose 1 designated card in the deck" with a twist of being a possible play to negate your own card if you know your opponent's deck) 3. All monsters summoned from the gy become zombie monsters. (more of an aesthetic choice considering Sucker turns an opponent's monster it summons into a zombie by that effect, comboing the idea that it allows you to tribute your opponents monsters if they special summon too many from grave for Ghost to summon over) but if you want it to be a stronger choice, maybe add an effect that zombie monsters can't attack vampire monsters while the link 4 is on field (or in gy if you want to be evil enough)
Something you missed on Vampire ghost normal summon effect, it adds a level 4 or higher vampire as well as sending the one to grave. Also, the monster sucker reborns is brought back as a zombie, which is part of the reason why voivode isn't absolute ass to summon.
Vampire Voivode is mostly used for the fact it's a lvl 8 special summonable monster for your lvl 8 xyz as a 1 copy with a negate until its used with an opps monster. Its other effects sometimes come up to tribute their field as well which isn't useless but sure, lackluster. Overall though as a 1 copy I've noticed it perform well multiple times for me, enough that when I didn't have it, I still found times I wanted to summon it.
Voivode is actually pretty cool you can use ghost and sucker to lavagolem the opponent on their turn and the negate comes up in most matchups but against some decks situational summoning them denies some decks reviving them after you tributated them.
Kinda weird to be so adamant that Voivode is a bad card, it needing to tribute two monsters is the only bad thing about it, that's why Sucker has the first line of text on her effect, you're meant to cheat that, it is good going second if you can get the effect to immediately make a Zombie Vampire or a Sheridan, but the negate is also deceptively good and if you're going first you can just special him to use the negate. Also, of course you also have the "quick effect lava golem" if you have ZW up with Sucker and Ghost in GY, it's a strong play since it bypasses any sort of protection bar being unaffected (literally just because then they won't be zombies, otherwise it would), even though it's kinda meme, it's an option. I for once don't see why you'd wanna play Shadow Vampire, a Tour Guide on a tribute summon is not good, he's the always the card that does the least when it's the only vampire I draw and the fact it's a level 5 makes it so it's only function is being an extra body to link off, which you can get without needing a tribute summon. Now a thing I don't get is people that play vampire never use the continuous spell that gives you an extra normal, but this deck doesn't have much gas unless you're milling like crazy and have a bunch of GY extenders so getting that extra normal makes a difference a lot of the time and after you activated it you can just send it as a cost for the low levels. As a final note, one thing that vampires are good at is using the Ghost Fusion engine, it gives you a one card Beatrice + a draw + another foolish for a zombie, since Beatrice is ZW setup by herself that can help extending past interruption, but it also requires playing more zombie cards which aren't always good to draw, however, with Horus there's usually ways to discard then for value.
another thing about domain, the continous spell, you get that normal summon as long as the effect resolves, even if it leaves field. this means you can use domain, then send it off for the cost of familier/retainer or even ghost in a pinch, and still get that extra normal summon.
Pretty sure the intention is to use vampire sorceres effect to summon voivode without tribute. If the opponent has 2 revive targets you get to make either XYZ with just your opponents monsters and keep the negate. Or you link it off and tribute the stolen monsters on their turn to get the negate back from GY.
or use the monster sucker summons back plus itself as the tributes, since sucker summons the monsters back as a zombie, meaning it's draw effect is already used by then.
Voivode can be normal summoned ny having vampire sorcerer in the grave and removing him from play. It counts as a normal summon and he still gets his effect.
