I mean Snake-Eye Diabel had become a fully fledged top tier strategy on its own without Fire King or R-ACE in OCG. It'll probably be even more popular as a standalone deck in TCG once PHNI comes out because the whole deck is one card starters and have like 15+ non engine slots

Okay I feel like a second wave of support could fix Vaalmonica there are some good cards in that archetype and a fair number of searchers. Memento I feel this less so.

Scelta is either the best magical mallet in the game or a search spell, the field spell searches a monster, they’ve got a foolish burial or excavate until you hit another one.
Like those aren’t complete ass, there’s just no endgoal.
Trust me Vaalmonika will be crazy. Im not coping it will be the next Rescue-ACE Vaalmonica Circular will fix the archetype by itself

I get how Tear mirrors can be cool but i never was interested in the deck so I hated the implication that i HAD to buy this meta deck because EVERYONE was playing it and little else was viable. I’ve always loved rogue strategies and trying to get them to work so I never want to feel forced or pressured into a deck. Thats why I’ve loved this diverse format recently cause after Tear 0 then Kash dominance I’m tired of lockouts and milling your whole deck on your opponents turn. Tear being a “good format” doesn’t necessarily mean it was healthy for the game and I don’t think any Tier 0 format is imo. I dont think the people usually praising the format dont think how it felt to play against it.
They definitely do because they played mirrors just because they are playing it too doesn’t mean they aren’t playing against it you just chose to play the worse deck not the metas fault
@austinmartinez5 It was a bad format for non-pros overall. Chain links were hideous and mills felt luck based, if neither player was too good at the game who resolved abyss dweller won (even Jess Cotton lost the finals to Dweller), the boring tear combos took too long and always went to time so they frequently won/lost via that in non-top tables. Honestly, I respect anyone who played stun and flu during that time, they lost/won without making the otherside suffer through the torture that is watching Tear gameplay (even getting FTKed in 2018 felt less agravating imo).

This Albaz Dragon is the latest evolution of Kitt's robot Rindbrumm, and during the Final Battle at Golgonda Kitt basically picks up Albaz after arriving at the scene and Rindbrumm is turned into this (probably fused with Sprind).

Game shops are too. Most finance future sets by reinvesting profits from previous sets. After the terrible year of products most didn't have enough to go in huge on both of the obvious winning sets of the year since they came out so close to each other. It takes a lot to make releasing two banger sets into a horrible negative but Konami always finds a way.
I will never forget finding a collector rare hydrant after opening a singular pack at my locals, just to find another collector rare hydrant weeks later while opening an amazing defenders box

The galaxy/photon support was huge for the deck, it's just still not good enough to be meta. Still my favorite pet deck though
Absolutely true. And now with Maze of Millennia we have received Delta Wing, which is a potential 1 card GPD. It's nice that both my pet decks are getting great support (Ghoti and Photon)
@@fabrizioorpianesi6670 personally I wouldn't run it. It doesn't really do anything for the deck since we can already make GPD very easily and the deck doesn't need battle protection
For me 2023 will be the year I returned to Yu-Gi-Oh after not playing since 2011. It has been challenging for sure but I've had so much fun along the way. I've learned so much. Best thing is I got Little Knight for $50 😂😂

The main issue of being forced into one deck is that by extension everything in that deck will be very expensive and scarce.

The only bad thing is that yugioh became so expensive this year. Fire King could've been a great budget option but the optimal way to play it requires the snake eyes engine which is crazy expensive. Little Night is probably the most expensive staple ever printed, vanquish souls and Centurion are also not cheap to play

@@kawaiicomplex8573 I agree with the op on this one, the deck may not play purely like an upgraded version of og infernoid but it still has a unique identity somewhat without just playing legacy support and barely any old cards like naturia/mathmech yeah Konami probably could’ve provided more main deck support but given what we have we can’t do much considering Deca is inherently the only noid that isn’t a garnet and most of them have gotten powercrept to the point grass + reasoning + Monster gate is still the only strat that works for them.

@kawaiicomplex8573 you didn't explain nothing or answer my question. Have you seen the fire King deck list?? You literally only play 3 kirin and the rest be at 1 most times. Counting the spell and trap you play like 10fk cards max. You still dedicated half or more of your deck to infernoid. speed up their strategy while ending on link 4 infernoid and feast. You use the diabelstar stuff to make proxy to fusion summon an infernoid.

That's a wild take for thrust. You do in fact play it to search/set traps going first post-side because the traps you can set are insane (d barrier etc). Floo literally runs 3 thrust in the main so they can search feather storn.
It's not wild at all lmao. Thrust sucks going first which is a massive cost. Setting traps is not that much of an advantage lmao. Meanwhile Tactics just gets three of the best effects imaginable with immediacy if you go first. Talents basically assures your combo works once activated, either securing no more interrupts or drawing into extenders. Thrust doesn't do shit if you go first so its a HUGE deckbuild cost.
if u have a problem with thrust because it can search those cards, then u don't have a problem with thrust, u have a problem with those cards

Thrust can search Feather Storm also which means if you stopped my play in my Harpie deck I'm just gonna turn skip you next turn but we can pretend that Talents hit is more valuable than Thrust for now :)))))

I agree VS needs something more and I have an idea for it that would probably be a bit heavy handed but could do a lot to sure up its issues. I think it needs a vanquish soul normal spell that lets you foolish a VS monster.
Then it needs a level 6 Earth VS that has a special summon condition that requires a VS monster to be added to hand to special summon itself. It would have an ability to special summon a VS monster from grave by revealing a fire and dark monster on a quick effect. The minor effect of it would require revealing an earth monster to move a card your opponent controls to a different column. This would make it so Madlove would have lines that lead to Raizen access when combined with this hypothetical monster or raizen access turn 2 through rock of the vanquisher
This combination of cards would also incentivize people to think twice about throwing Shifter into their list as the standard. It could still be a good side deck card but not a great main deck card
Make take on VS support is maybe a bit broken but they need a continuous spell which says you can declare a attribute and for the rest of the turn a card you show your opponent to activate a VS effect becomes this attribute. It would make jialong a razen searcher with another fire in hand and you get easily the other VS effects live without razen. And a level 6 earth would be great which can special itself as quick effect when you only control VS monster or rock and for two earth it could banish or maybe take control of a monster in its column.
It would also helps if the counter trap would be a real judgment and not only on targeting effects

We need a master duel banlist reaction, dlink losing wyvernburster and chaos ruler is huge imo.
Now with all pots at 1 and card of demise banned, and all the hits to floodgates it should be fully unplayable.
Prehitting superheavy means we are getting them next selection pack (hopefully).
And fenrir to one will make it way less playable, also birth to 1 felt weird.
The purrely hits are just expected at this point.

The birth to one is most likely due to many deck start to implement small kashtira package in their deck, usually in auroradon/synchro pile/speedroid/punk deck.

Thrust could always be good so long as there is any normal spell in an archetype that either help you push for game or combo, or just some normal trap that also help secure the win or slow down your opponent. Talents is probably the best target but we’d still be playing thrust even if it didn’t exist and in plenty of situations…
Yeah, as a hero player personally I like Thrust a lot more than Talents. Talents in Hero is often times not that strong because Hero doesnt have that amount of extenders that help you continue playing to make the draw worth using and you cant do anything with the monster you stole 99% of the time besides make it tribute fodder for Plasma... thrust going second can give you A hero lives or fusion destiny to push through boards, even grabbing poly/miracle fusion can help

I think he's considering the generic usefulness of the Tactics cards, notwithstanding particular decks that synergise with Thrust particularly well.
thrust and talents are only good in certain formats. talents is probably better more often, but they're not always good
When registering for a local or whatever, everyone asks for the Konami ID.
In the Neuron App however it says Cardgame-ID (previously COSSY-ID) and last time I wanted to use my actual Konami-ID (Username+numbers) they looked at me like an alien.

I stand by Ariseheart being the most healthy unhealthy card printed this year. Dude made Lance and Book of Moon viable while invalidating Tear and Dark World while making cool rogue stuff like Traptrix and Ninjas real locals decks.

Just a question: do you find the prizing of big tournaments to be fair compared to other popular tcg? I found concerning the prizing of side events based on a point system, in which u can't even win booster packs. And overall winning enough point to get a playmat you could have bought with basically the same price of a side event entry fee i found it shameful. And guys.. 45 euros for 2600 ish people in bologna.. and you win a printed card that has value only on the secondary market and a nintendo switch...come on.
2023 was a great year dropped Yu-Gi-Oh for other tcgs n found both are so much cheaper n better card art. Fingers crossed yugi follows other tcgs price wise cos that all thats holding the game back from being so good

The reason why Photon Galaxy is never seen is because no one wants to look into the deck. We barley have representation as it is. The way you reacted to the deck’s support here makes it seem like it’s bad when it’s actually one of the better rogue decks. I don’t think it’s overly insane or anything it is solid but not broken
There's a shit ton of cards and decks that can do well at a locals level, and thats all you really need if you don't play beyond that

Photon Lord being a $60 card killed any chance of people caring on Jumper's release. People aren't sinking $120+ on a rogue deck unless they're absolutely enamored with it or it has real competitive chops. It's why Satellarknight had almost zero tinkering as well despite being a pretty cool deck. If Bunbukus were $50 a pop no one would invest any time or interest in the upcoming Majespecter support unless it shows up as a real meta threat.
@@firelizardrykoI think what Josh knows is that photon galaxy and other rogue decks struggle a lot against tier1/2 meta decks which can do the same and/or more while using way less resources and having a way to recover after major interruptions. Rogue strategies biggest win condition is that the opponent doesn’t know what they do.
@@CeltyST96 I mean I could argue the same for those decks against rogue. Let's be honest it's mainly who goes first that realistically decides how a best of 3 goes. If Photon Galaxy gets Blast Dragon against Unchained, Ace, Fire King, and Lab for example they are cooked

The pure deck ceases to function at all, if the Monk couldn't be used as Link Material (not to mention that this clause would probably turn him into an Effect monster by technicality, which would make his design completely nonsensical) and Swordsoul - the only relevant Wyrm good-stuff deck - doesn't care about Link climbing.

As much as I like AGOV, I also really hate it because it kind of ruins Yugioh. You have to be rich just to play any of the up coming competitive decks, and has caused a lot of toxicity among the player base. Showing that a lot of competitive players have disdain for budget players.

Yo Nouvelles is actually not that bad ! In the ritual festival in MD, I did so many OTK turn 2 through the opponent board WITH THE LOANER DECK, it dodges targetting very well and can swarm the board while removing the opponents' ones... But yeah player on Master Duel don't play very well xD

People tend to overreact towards Tears when there's really nothing special about its end goal. It's still your average "setup a board now to interact later" archetype, but it just does so with more steps in order to get there. Much like how Pendulums are, but then again why would you play Pendulums if you can play Dragon Link, but I digress. If people can manage to look at that fact, then Tears (and only Tears itself) wouldn't be a problem. I still believe that it's the Ishizu cards that are the main culprit, the one who made things problematic, though.
In hindsight, maybe this is just another proof that Yu-Gi-Oh players really just love taking the path of least resistance, but that's just a speculation.
Tear operates on an axis that's very difficult to deal with while being supremely frustrating to play against if you're not playing a deck that somehow benefits from the mutual mills. If it were a normal combo deck people wouldn't care. But it's a combo deck that plays entirely in the GY and deck, has access to frustrating generics, performs the cardinal sin of touching the opponent's deck (fuck Runick too btw), and has no concept of going neutral or negative in card advantage.
I'm glad it's dead and I hope it never comes back.
By that logic then Ishizu Tear is no different whatsoever, still just "set up board to interact later". The big difference Tear make is that it's the only deck in the game that can make that board during your opponent first turn, aka turn 0, and only Tear can do that, Ishizu doesn't do shit, they only make it faster.
There isn't a single relevant deck other than Tear that uses Ishizu, it's a mid af engine that only deemed as "problem" solely because of Tear, and even without it Tear already dorminated the format, just look at YCS Minneapolis 2022 and see, Ishizu is only a little push to make it T0.
Compared it to actual good engine like Diabellestar/Snake-Eyes engine, which made so many different decks viable and top tier, decks that never seen competitive play before now suddenly become successful, and Ishizu is garbage in comparison.
Danger Tear before the Ishizu cards came out was pretty based. But let’s be real anything that results in a one card mill 8 is a mistake.
