GSMR 1702: Steaming Into The Orange Gorge

On October 22nd, 2022, we drove up to the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad to see 1702 working hard in the fall colors. There were two trains throughout the day to accommodate the amount of people that come to see the fall colors, one departing at 9AM, the other departing at 2PM. We chased both trains through the orange colored gorge, and we had a great time seeing my favorite steam locomotive! So sit back and relax, as 1702 steams into the orange gorge!

We were at the museum at 2:30 when it departed Bryson City, video is on my channel. First time we’d ever seen a steam locomotive in operation

My special needs son loves trains 🚆🚋🚃🚄🚅🚇🚈🚉🚝🚞🛤🚊especially steam locomotives like 1702 there and he finds the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad very interesting hopes the entire line to Murphy is restored and the Louisville & Nashville line between Murphy and north Georgia that was abandoned and removed by CSX is rebuilt and used again for both freight and passenger trains it is one of my son's dreams to see abandoned and removed railroad tracks 🛤 rebuilt and used again but he does not want that to be wishful thinking he wants it to be a reality. He really believes that if the rest of the line to Murphy is restored and the Louisville & Nashville line is rebuilt it would give the passengers a change of scenery.
