As much as I love the melody, as much as I love the lyrics, as much as I love the video as a whole, them showing all the people who worked on setting this up at the end of the video makes it all even better.
Something I love about this video is the presence of the smashed piano and pile of smashed tvs in the background, acknowledging that this is not the first run through of the machine
One thing I also find funny is the complete lack of excitement/celebration by the boys compared to most of their other videos, where as soon as the shot finishes they celebrate immediately. That, in combination with the pre-existing paint on them, tells me that a number of takes got all the way to the end but weren't good enough, and they had to reset the whooole machine. Absolute insanity.
I just went down a rabbit hole about this video - this was the 86th take. And it often took HOURS between each take to set everything up again. I don't know how much praise they got for this, but it wasn't enough.

I just want to say one thing: 81 takes. All those dominoes you see at the beginning had to be picked up one by one and set up again, one by one, 80 TIMES. If ever you were to question OK GO's awesomeness
The dominos? Soo, not the piano dropping and breaking, or the broken television or the water system or the bucket pyramid or the paper planes or the marble system or the balloons or like y'know, every other part of the video? The dominos were practically the easiest part to set up
Black science guy you saw at the mall today Well, yes, the piano is expensive and stuff, but if you have to reset the TV you just stack it away and get a "new" one. This song reached out to all of us and was buried in our memories. With the days where peak was at its peak, we fell away from this life into the cruel world we now live in. With politics, our economy, and our responsibility grew ever since we heard of this. Back when our only goal in life was beating the final boss or catching the ball, this song engulfed me and many others within those memories, so even though you won’t see this, thank you.

I like seeing all the previous attempts in the background. A broken piano, some shattered TVs, some paint outlines at the end. It shows just how much failure, lessons, then further attempts went into this. *You can't keep letting it keep you down!*
Imagine if someone sneezed and they had to set everything up again. Also I absolutely love the glasses and spoons part and the fact that the TV is playing another one of their music videos.
+randman I would have been asking: what would have happened if the camera operator tripped over something and the other contraptions started with a 5 second gap between them!
I couldn't help clapping at the end when I saw this for the first time over 12 years ago, and I still can't help it after watching again today. The song and video are somehow a perfect match.
Okay can we talk about how LEGENDARY this is? It must have taken forever to set up, and they showed things that made it clear that they did several takes. Not even getting into how amazing the song is.
This band has done so much for me in giving me two amazing songs that I have used to keep myself above water when I felt like I was drowning in life. Thanks, guys. This is still my go-to song when I'm depressed and need a pickmeup.

I had forgotten about this song for a long time, but I looked it up again because I received terrible news regarding a position I had worked hard to earn for around half a year. I was looked over for a person who doesnt even care for the position, and my colleagues have regularly complained about her unwillingness to put in even the bare minimum work. Hurts, man.
It isn't my favorite song of all time. But it is DEFINITELY tied for my favorite music video of all time. I remember trying to make a Rube Goldberg machine once... didn't quite work out so well. This is AMAZING!
It's interesting going back and watching this again because you can tell that OK Go has gotten a lot better at not reacting to crazy stuff happening around them. There were a lot of parts in the second half where the members couldn't help looking to the side instead of at the camera and a couple times where it's obvious they just barely made it to their places in time. Of course, this doesn't diminish the impressiveness of this video in the slightest. They are just as creative and good at playing music as they are now. It's just now they're used to doing crazy music videos and have a much better budget.
@@JGProductions6581 In an interview they say it took over a hundred takes, and getting certain parts to work with the music was the hardest part. There was one segment that only worked once and it represents the only edit in the video.
Got a bit of a thing for Rube Goldberg machines. this is surely one on the higher tier of the examples of the art. only passingly familiar with the song, but "this to shall pass" has been a mantra that has kept me sane a couple of times. Good Game Lads. Aircannons full of good vibes at all of you!

Back here after 2 years to say thanks again for casually appearing on my feed when COVID lockdown resulted in me nearly losing my home and having to drop out of college due to a real mixture of bs. This song makes me feel better about everything. I'm scared about how long the pandemic will last and I keep forgetting that however long it is, it won't be forever.
Sooo, this virus will never be extinct, it will mutate out of vaccines reach ever so often, and vaccines are generally too expencive for alarmingly many. All countries will do what it takes so not more than a set percentage of important workforce are infected at once, just like now. The ways they keep this under control will change as time goes on, most likely eased up but never back to normal. So no, this pandemic will not pass.

ericx2151 stfu
ericx2151 wtf
Harrie Loll Well now I’m inspired to check out more of their stuff.
Glad the algorithm held out for a decade this seems so relevant today.
2:38 I love how you can see all the failed attempts in the form of the broken televisions in the background!
Yes! Also, the paint already on the guys...
ahhhhhhh yes
Too bad they're broken. There are some I would have taken!
That must’ve been a pain to put up again
looks like that was about the 8th take and they could've tried twice more.
This is one of the best music videos ever. The effort and energy and flow is so sick
I used to watch this as a toddler- I remember loving it so much and watching it on repeat! So awesome to revisit
This is easily the greatest music video ever made. They were able to take science and harmonize it with each step of the music, unbelievable.
watch all the music videos from this band. every single one of them is wonderful and surprising on different ways
I wonder how the song would go without music.
Watched this when I was in 7th grade and now I'm in college, time flies... the feels...
Chau Jack same, but more like 2nd or 3rd grade lol
ReynaPixyRosa Chihuahua literally same!! are we long lost classmate? lol
I like seeing all the previous attempts in the background. A broken piano, some shattered TVs, some paint outlines at the end. It shows just how much failure, lessons, then further attempts went into this.
*You can't keep letting it keep you down!*
the amount of creativity that it went into this video is huge AMAZING
Plot twist: it wasn’t red paint on the first guy.
It was their last cameraman, who tripped and made them have to reset the whole thing
Lily Peelor what
@@Rat_piss r u ok
Yes im fine
@The Impostor ha
yes it was what els wuld it be
Imagine if someone sneezed and they had to set everything up again. Also I absolutely love the glasses and spoons part and the fact that the TV is playing another one of their music videos.
+randman They did over 80 tries before they got it all right.
fun fact: if you look at the behind the scenes they had to do 80+ takes.
+randman I would have been asking: what would have happened if the camera operator tripped over something and the other contraptions started with a 5 second gap between them!
This is one of the most entertaining music videos I've seen! Ok go rocks!
Now this, this is how you do a music video.
10/10 made my year.
I couldn't help clapping at the end when I saw this for the first time over 12 years ago, and I still can't help it after watching again today. The song and video are somehow a perfect match.
IVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND THIS VIDEO FOR 4 YEARS, I FOUND IT
congrats. now go listen to upside down and inside out, their new music video
wow!!!
I know how that feels, it's like the glory 👏
OMG me 2
+Maryam Mafuri Literally did a 5 second google search for "warehouse course video british rock." Was the third entry.
The way it pans up to the team makes me so emotional every time I watch this. The work involved in this still blows me away.
one of the best videos of all time
This deserves to be in everyone's recommendations again... every year!
Constructive creative chaos... I'm totally for this.
I hadn't seen this video in forever. I still love it more then ever.. ❤
I remember having to watch this in 8th grade now I'm about done with high school holy s*** the memories thank you for CinemaSins using this and one of their videos
Gage Dubois Same ... the nostalgia really gets me
Gage Dubois omg me too I just watched it tdy!!😱😘😊
do you remember which cs video?
Gage Dubois I also had to watch it in the eighth grade
sorry about late replies high school and Christmas stuff, but every time I see this video the nostalgia gets me. also glad to see people are still being shown it
imagine all the time and energy they put into resetting the set and props/rube goldberg setup. really a iconic underrated band.
I remember watching this back when it first came out when I was six. Revisiting it again all these years later is making me way too emotional 😭
I always wondered how long it took to make this video. It probably took about 100 tries to get it right. Kind of like that Honda Accord commercial.
@@JGProductions6581 In an interview they say it took over a hundred takes, and getting certain parts to work with the music was the hardest part. There was one segment that only worked once and it represents the only edit in the video.
at the very end during the part with the paint cannon, one of them just barely puts his goggles on in time
I like how Tim flinches as the bowling ball goes past him down the spiral track at 3:10 - makes you wonder if it came off in another take.
@@ImTheSecretSquare i saw that too lol
IMPOSSIBLE! Rube would be proud. And astonished. Thanks.
These guys set the bar over and over and over again, what a video.
This was the happiest I’ve ever been watching something.
I dreamt of making things like this as a kid, you guys are living the dream, awesome work!
so you like science.
Honestly, I really needed this video right now. Life is so stressful right now and all I want to do is cry my eyes out, but this too shall pass. Thanks for cheering me up 13 years later, OK Go.
I love this song
This is the MOST AMAZING VIDEO I have ever seen on UA-cam! Bravo to all who made it!!!
This still amazes me.
Back here after 2 years to say thanks again for casually appearing on my feed when COVID lockdown resulted in me nearly losing my home and having to drop out of college due to a real mixture of bs. It did, in fact, pass. COVID still lingers, financial problems are still prevalent...but the worst of it did pass. Thank you again for always bringing me a smile to my face.
Words to live by. I actually needed this today. idc how old this song is.
Your music and videos ( especially this song) helped me through a very hard time in my life. 10 years later i enjoy it for helping me realize the strength I had to get through that time. Thanks guys! ❤❤
I was not expecting this to play in the credits for the Flash. But I am so happy it did
If this isn't the greatest music video ever, I don't know what is.
...now let's try it again with the lens cap off
lol
海鷗 whaaaaaaaaaat
Seriously, who invented lens cap??
Aaaaaand we broke another TV
"Hey uhh... guys... I forgot to press record"
This is amazing! I still cant believe a small push from a truck made all of that! You guys are AMAZING!!!!!!!! 😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄
Well done!
The part with the umbrellas where so much is going on on the screen is beautiful.
Watching this made me happy.
2:50 Damian bouncing mid-air is giving me all sorts of giggles
Was SO stoked to hear this song at the end of Flash. So cool guys!
Watching in 2020, this mess of a pandemic too shall pass.
Unless it doesn't. In which case good luck to you good sir.
This song makes me feel better about everything. I'm scared about how long the pandemic will last and I keep forgetting that however long it is, it won't be forever.
Yeah (from Brazil)
Not yet... It's been 4 months goddammitt
My favorite video. Saw this when I was learning about Rube Goldberg machines Long ago. Continue on watching since. Love the collaboration.
One of my all-time favorite music videos!
