Ah! A sudden Simon & Martina! 😆 Oddly enough, I just came from Ok Go's 2014 video "Never Let You Down," which was filmed in Japan. Also CRAZY good, and the jpop band Perfume has a cameo! If you haven't already, you should check it oooout...
Ok Go manages to have the musical talent of 20 year olds, the creativity of 7 year olds, the mayhem that would be loved by a 12 year old, and the budget of a small country
Well the first shot was clearly sped up and longer than 4.2 seconds. And when they used that first shot they adjusted the speed throughout to fit the song as they needed to. Did you not notice things would go faster and slower at times?
Behind the Scenes explains it. To put it shortly, it took a hell a huge spread sheet made by the lead singer making each frame perfect (remember shot in 2000-3500 fps) It got so complicated they had to make a whole new rig that's been rarely used. It isn't exactly one take since no technology can do this but most of the scenes where stuff is breaking was recorded very fast.
crisis8v88 Hmm...I don't remember that detail, or maybe you're just kidding lol. Either way, I just know it showed up before a vid I wanted to watch, and I was so fascinated with the slow-mo process that I ended up watching the whole thing anyway.
This is truly the greatest advertisement I've ever seen. Saw this in a youtube ad back in 2016 and I cant stop coming back to it all these years later. Everything about it from the quality song to the impeccable production of the music video, and how they put it together just blows me away. OK Go never fails to make the best, most creative music videos of our time. Morton Salt made the right decision by making this all possible, cause it's one hell of an advertisement and I definitely won't forget who sponsored it. Props all around.
MANINIMO honestly, that’s part of the beautiful thing about OK GO. A lot of their songs have some pretty innovative music videos to pair with the music, usually made possible through different companies, and communities. The One Moment, along with White Knuckles, This Too Shall Pass (the rube goldberg version), Obsession, All is Not Lost, and Here It Goes Again, the one that started it all, are probably the most memorable of their music videos.
This is exactly how I found OK Go: A Morton salt commercial on UA-cam that suddenly captivated me to the point that I didn't even remember I was trying to watch
Woa, Anthony, full of badass right there. Go get 'em! You will not be denied your amazing zinger of a insult. I have a wish for you, but it requires sheep, lubrication, and midget clowns.
This song has literally helped keeping me alive while I was very ill a couple years ago. It gave me so much strength because it made me realise that none of the suffering I was experiencing would matter in comparison to "the one moment that matters at all", the moment when I reach my life's biggest goal. It also helped me believe that "all of this" suffering I was going through "will end", which was crucial to convincing myself that I had a future where I could finally enjoy life (and especially working for my goals) instead of being in constant torment. Even from today it will still be many years and a lot of work and hardships until I I reach my goal, but surviving that very bad time was crucial to even have the chance to get there, or to live something that I would consider a good life at all.
Doesn't anyone think that the 4.2 sec segment is sped up? Look at the water in the balloons, all happens too fast, compared to how this would look in real life. I don't believe the 4.2s story.
I first saw this in my school's gifted program, with one of my favorite teachers of all time. It completely blew my mind back then, and I still love it now. Sadly, though, a few years after I left that school, the teacher lost their fight with breast cancer, and passed away. I miss her dearly. But, the funny thing is, one of the only things I remember from that class is this video, which is literally about savoring every moment. I didn't realize it at the time, but it really was that one moment that mattered, at all.
@Heptor44, what a beautiful comment. I am sorry for the loss of such a wonderful inspiration. This hit me in the feels pretty hard as I am a third grade and gifted program teacher myself and use Ok Go videos for entire units of study with my students. It brings tears to my eyes and warms my heart knowing that students like you are out there. Please continue to savor every moment, even the tricky and unpleasant ones because sometimes they can teach us the most.

Not only is the song itself absolutely beautiful but the video is an absolute masterpiece! HOW did you guys manage to sync this up perfectly?!?! It's as mind boggling as it is beautiful! Job very, very well done lads I mean that!!
Derek Collins if you go to their channel, they have a video explaining the complex mathematics, pyrotechnics and programming that went behind it. The lead singer said it took him a month to grind through the calculations
Bollog Nyessy they do do this for certain sections, but it's pretty on point for the most part. You definitely can't say this was "easily" done and does deserve massive respect.
Is it just me but I always feel like crying listening and watching this music video. This is such an overwhelming feeling that bursts up my heart every single time!
Wow, this band. Not only their music is amazing, but the concepts they come up with for their music videos are too. I'm in literal tears after this. Wow.
Recently started a new position at a restaurant. Entropy and restaurant gods.. but I start each shift watching your videos. It amps our team and you accomplish the near impossible - both with your videos and your energy with each song. Thank you.
As a metalhead, I'm not really a fan of OK GO musically, but I always watch your videos, and most of them multiple times over the course of years. Y'all are some very creative folks, and watching your vids is always time well spent. This is not a comment saying that OK Go's music isn't good. Rather, it's not my thing, but I still love taking a few minutes to enjoy the sound and especially the videos.
Derrill Guilbert and I legit mean that. thank you for being the one of the few reasonable and not ragey and awful cancer people in music video comments :)
As someone who is frequently hurting myself, as much as I love everything they do I spend the whole time thinking "How do they not get something in their eyes, or how does that water not burst an eardrum or some other such injury?" 😅! Amazing creativity. Thank you for sharing your ingenious gifts.
OMG they did NOT explode all those beautiful guitars WHAT?!? These videos...INSANE. And to think they all started with a treadmill...or 10. I could watch OK Go videos for hours!
"There for the grace of time and chance, and entropy's cruel hands" My favourite part of my favourite song by you guys! I literally clap and laugh when I watch and listen to this. Such a beautiful song, so full of warmth! I am a kindergarten teacher, my kids LOVE your songs and videos. They walk around singing your songs all the time. They understand the concept of zero-gravity because of you, and a couple of the more curious ones even know what entropy means, because we did a little demo to explain it. You are doing so much more than you can ever know. And you also bring me near to tears with your music. Sometimes with sadness, sometimes with joy. Merry Christmas to one of the greatest bands ever.
Good Lord, the production value and timing of this is staggering. As someone who enjoys doing things like this, one part of me is applauding them with tears in my eyes, and the other is cringing for the producers having to coordinate all this :)
They mention in the "Making of" that it's actually multiple shots, because they couldn't get a camera to move fast enough in certain parts. They don't say which parts though.
imagine it doesnt sound right at the end... because one of the guitars were all put too low to too high... or the bar snapped off... must have been hard
Arthur Brandon Nielsen Re-watch THIS video really carefully. It gives you a really strong clue as to what part was a single shot. ;) Also, was it the _camera_ that couldn’t move fast enough, or the _humans?_ The motion control camera rig was zipping around at speeds far too hazardous to have humans running around near it.
Peak Idiocy They used a motion control camera rig, which is a robot. Industrial robots move FAST. (As a tech nerd, I find it amazing that industrial robots can move extremely fast, be extremely strong, and yet do that all with incredible positional accuracy.)
This ad: the only ad in the world That 99.9 percent of people didn't skip, and that was actually more interesting than the video that they were watching. CONGRATULATIONS!!! :D
That will always be their best video because awesome choreography will always be better than special effects. that and the song fit so well with the dance routine
Lyndsey Davis I was to, and this very amazing video was awesome. BTW, I want to point out that your comment had a small pun inside it. When you said you're always "blown" away by their amazing work, I thought of the amazing and cool explosions in this video. I don't know if you just realized you had a pun in your comment, but well done to you sir/ma'am. Also, I don't know if I should say you blew up because you said you were blown away but yeah! And I know you didn't mean to put that pun in your comment. And I also don't know if I should even call it a pun.😊
I don't think anyone will ever be able to dethrone OK GO as the lords of the music video.

The overgrowth is swallowing the path
There for the grace of god go we
There for the grace of god go we
There for the grace of time and chance
and entropy's cruel hands
So open your arms to me
Open your arms to me
And this will be
The one moment that matters
And this will be
The one thing we remember
And this will be
The reason to have been here
And this will be
The one moment that matters at all
So won't you stay here with me
And we'll build until we've blistered our hands
So won't you stay here with me
We'll build us some temples
We'll build us some castles
We'll build us some monuments
And burn them all right down
So open your arms to me
Open your arms to me
And this will be
The one moment that matters
And this will be
The one thing we remember
And this will be
The reason to have been here
And this will be
The one moment that matters at all

An ad you actually want to watch twice.
Havaseet2 ikr
Havaseet2 say that again
ikr
Havaseet2 I saw the ad and was like 😳 then subbed and was like even more 😳
Yeah, right!
This pretty much shows how much the important moments slow down in our lives, and stay with us. Excellent video.
also salt
This is an ad about salt-
"There's nothing more profound, than the certainty that all of this will end." So poetic and beautiful.
Not only is the song itself absolutely beautiful but the video is an absolute masterpiece! HOW did you guys manage to sync this up perfectly?!?! It's as mind boggling as it is beautiful! Job very, very well done lads I mean that!!
lol mathematics ;)
Well, kudos to the director actually :)
they could subtly change the speed of the video to sync everything up without anybody noticing due to it being filmed at such a high frame rate.
Congrats on being the first ad I've ever watched in its entirety.
then you'll definitely want to see their newest creative commercial, best damn printer paper commercial ive seen to date.

3:15 - Grabs umbrella AFTER fragments of guitar have finished raining down.
And then proceeds to drop the umbrella while paint is thrown at him combined with water and MORE guitar fragments from the sky.
Well, he was already wet from the water balloons.
Eli Southern you would be exelent at cinemasins
Jack of Hearts *Music Video Sins
Two different shots... Sorry.
Is it just me but I always feel like crying listening and watching this music video. This is such an overwhelming feeling that bursts up my heart every single time!
Best Commerical Ever. worth watching
That moment when you're a visual artist and this video is all types of 🔥🔥🔥
Gae Elle
pretty sure you don't have to be a visual artist to understand how good this video was lol
I'm waiting for them to do an entire music video while sky diving. It seems like the only crazy concept left for them to use.
They'll probably do one while launching into space, or something!
Korean Pathfinder well they did one in a free falling plane where is looked like zero G.
Parkway Drive has a video where they're sky diving for part of it. It's not the entire video, but it's pretty cool. OK Go could do it better.
Baker Man is baking bread...
Funny you should mention bread. Didn't they do a music video using about 20,000 pieces of toast?
Insane 😮😮😮😮
my jaw was dropped the whole time this is the work of an absolute genius :O amazing
HEY TO EVERYONE WHO FINDS THIS, WE ALL KNOW THIS IS A FAMOUS PERSON, YOU DON'T NEED TO POINT IT OUT
My kids and I love your work to, hun 👍🙋♀️
How the hell is there 4 replies to a verified comment 4 years old
My brain is blank now, I have no idea how to describe what I just saw O-O
I know right it so weird, but amazing at the same time, like most of your animations ;)
CuteC3 oml your the best utuber!
This is better than UA-cam rewind 2016, and moreover it should be
somehow, it's true
bad news
The OK go team should make the 2017 UA-cam ReWind!
Stijn Weijters Yes, yes, yes.
sexyfilm
A challenging week = watch OK Go videos and live in that joy. :)
The Slo-Mo Guys would be in awe. So in Sync. Great beat as well.
That's how you would describe a mind being blown
Caroline Nguyen a mind being blown
Caroline Nguyen
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the dictionary defined "amazing" with a link to this video. (Also, nice profile picture)
Annette Hasnas I'm surprised that no one commented the same thing before I did ".3."
That's because most people can't appreciate real art. Kudos to you for recognizing it.
Marie Frebronze sheesh I looked on to there channel it seemed like it took 3 years to make ;P
Thank you.
The slow motion is mesmerizing.
How long did this take to make?
Not like the 4.2 second part, but the whole dang thing to film and act it all out.
Derrill Guilbert you're my hero. just... thank you
Derrill Guilbert and I legit mean that. thank you for being the one of the few reasonable and not ragey and awful cancer people in music video comments :)
I was just saying it was about time for another OK GO masterpiece
As someone who is frequently hurting myself, as much as I love everything they do I spend the whole time thinking "How do they not get something in their eyes, or how does that water not burst an eardrum or some other such injury?" 😅! Amazing creativity. Thank you for sharing your ingenious gifts.
My mind was just blown to bits just like those guitars! How did they...WHY did they....
**dies from mindblow**
first ad where I actually clicked on a link. This is what ads should be
Yep. Over the years I've clicked on ad links just a handful of times. This music video is one of them.

Unfortunately, if all ads were like this it may be that everyone would get spoiled and need something more, then something more, etc.
Ok so I'm not super pumped about the actual song, but guys we just witnessed a freaking legend in the world of music videos.
I'm glad i'm not the only one who thought this
I love the song its one of my favourites
+Seth Rogen What are you talking about the song is fucking amazing, the video just adds to the amazing factor
Castrik NM Oops sorry just had my own opinion that's all.
I swear people have forgotten the definition of OPPINION
STILL one of the most amazing music videos EVER...the song is great - the song with the video footage is crazy!!! Never stop doing what you guys do.
when even the time could be trained by them!
Hah, I love the KoL reference! OK GO are truly wonderful eh?
Alright fine, I'll buy your salt.
Your profile pic makes your comment so much better
Kind of morbid if you think about it
Animation Contemplation Keep in mind, the bar has been set pretty dang high for the pepper makers.
meachy Pepper can go to Hell!!!
Animation Contemplation Bizarre words coming from an apparent snail.
I don't know who you are but this videoclip is one of the best I've seen in a _loooooooong_ time.
Nevermind, I actually saw their video for "This Too Shall Pass" back in the date.
It's just as amazing as back almost 7 years ago.
Check out "Here it goes again" with treadmill choreography :)
DId you see I Won't Let You Down? That is aaaaawesome.
OMG they did NOT explode all those beautiful guitars WHAT?!? These videos...INSANE. And to think they all started with a treadmill...or 10. I could watch OK Go videos for hours!
the fact that this was a commercial for salt was the most mind blowing part.
cheeseman right!!
cheeseman wait what? I thought it was for a charity.
the last 5 seconds is the morton salt logo.
MineBoom it is for charity, salt is helping with charity I believe

This is a next level ad. Insane level of effort and creativity.
"There for the grace of time and chance, and entropy's cruel hands"
My favourite part of my favourite song by you guys!
I hate how they're not as popular as most musical groups.
Declan Lynch Because its the music videos that impress people, not the songs.
TheComputerBomb Hard to say. I found this to be a good song.
OK GO never fails to amaze me with their creativity, determination and awesome smiles as they make the most amazing videos that i have ever seen
I'm pretty sure they couldn't use robots because they couldn't keep up
imagine it doesnt sound right at the end... because one of the guitars were all put too low to too high... or the bar snapped off... must have been hard
Arthur Brandon Nielsen Re-watch THIS video really carefully. It gives you a really strong clue as to what part was a single shot. ;)
Also, was it the _camera_ that couldn’t move fast enough, or the _humans?_ The motion control camera rig was zipping around at speeds far too hazardous to have humans running around near it.
Peak Idiocy They used a motion control camera rig, which is a robot. Industrial robots move FAST. (As a tech nerd, I find it amazing that industrial robots can move extremely fast, be extremely strong, and yet do that all with incredible positional accuracy.)
The way every thing was perfectly timed with the music? Chefs kiss
This ad: the only ad in the world That 99.9 percent of people didn't skip, and that was actually more interesting than the video that they were watching. CONGRATULATIONS!!! :D
I like how everybody is so amazed by their music video art and no one gives a crap about the music
I never listened to song before despite getting the album... I quite like the song...
I think the song is okay. I wouldn't say it's the best one off the album. But the video is cool.
***** It's in the middle, although some of the songs I haven't gave much of a listen to...
Ok Go don't really half arse the videos...
ikr but i think that not all the people like this style of music. but i do and i support them
I love their music! Bought it on iTunes.
WOW, Colorfully stunning, now that's how you make a music video.
Still awesome at the end of 2024.
They never fail to impress me love this dudes.
This is the type of video that blows people's minds even 300 years down the line.
Why is the most beautiful thing I've ever watched?
This is one of my favorites by OKGO both visually and musically.
I heard about you in the upside down music video but HOLY CRAP THIS IS A WHOLE NEW LEVEL
me. AWESOME!!!!
GrandOldPuba this isn't just high speed cameras because they did still have to slow it down, if not slowed down most of that would be hard to catch
I just want to now how people do this.
learn to spell "know"
Calvin Page
They always do something amazing and precise. They always make it fun and a little bit magic too.
This. Is. Art.
This makes dancing on treadmills look like a joke.
Hey Matt
MattShea What does it feel like to go unrecognized in a comments section
I luv your channel
Dancing on treadmills is no laughing matter.
That will always be their best video because awesome choreography will always be better than special effects. that and the song fit so well with the dance routine
OK GO's videos have always been phenomenal.
And also involves paint. In a way.
I'm always blown away by what they do
Lyndsey Davis I was to, and this very amazing video was awesome.
And I also don't know if I should even call it a pun.😊
all these music videos are such classics bruh
They timed that with the music way to well. must be magic
Nah, just practice, computers, and editing.
+Andy Brice yes they can control the speed of the video to match with the music. Some parts of the video is slower than others.
So Magic?
Daryn Goodwin Ik
The pure creativity of OK Go never ceases to amaze me.
