It’s timeless

I give you the most underrated band in America
In the world.
+The Atomic Cherry in the universe
I would have to say something about their slides and backwards macrching though, and the high marching need a bit high knees, but that a bit too critical.
Along with American authors!
Joel Bogunjoko their toes aren't high enough
my path to getting better or over or whatever with depression started with this song, it may have taken me a few years to really start to make any steps, this song had a huge influence. the world is horrible, that doesn't mean that everything in the world is horrible, and we must simply fight to make it less horrible. things change.
The words this too shall pass
The world isn't horrible, the world just is. We are the organs that apply meaning to it. People ask what is the purpose or meaning of the universe or life? But that is backward, the universe/life asks that of us -- we are it's intelligent organs and we determine/choose the reason and meaning of it all.
@@dreadknought8675 pretty good, depression doesn't really go away, but i am able to live my life now and have held the same job for all the years since this post.
@@kght222 This is my go to video to cheer up for sure!!
@@kght222 so glad to hear that! i too struggle with depression. like you said, it doesn't go away - we just get better at dealing with it. sending you virtual hugs
I love the bits in their videos where they're trying not to smile but can't help themselves.
How could you not smile when you're taking part in something so beautiful?
tostare, I think I would smiling so much I wouldn't be able to play my trombone properly... watched this ten times already, still magical.
Except maybe Andy, I never see him smile.
OK Go and their team should be responsible for every Olympic ceremony.
**Responsible**
I just corrected a comment from two years ago.
Responcymbal*
And 'should'!
Oh helz yeah!!!
Haha yes!
I was sad.
Then, I watched this video.
Now I'm no longer sad.
Thanks, that's wonderful.
When I feel myself start circling on something upsetting, I mentally replay that clip of the boards spelling “Let it go, this too shall pass” along with the voices of the band and it really does help break me out of my mental loops. Just rewatched it after lying awake for hours in the middle of the night and it made me tear up ❤
I like this idea and will try it next time I’m awake ruminating. 💞
I love watching this video because my daughter is one of the children running around at the end. I had so much fun watching this video be made out at Notre Dame!!
The moss on the trombone slide gives me life haha
StormRider72 same
yassssss-your words
I am a trombone player...
If only I lived somewhere that actually had moss, I'd have my next Halloween costume ready.
*Adds "Move To Florida" to checklist*
YES SAME
I thought l was the only former trombone player that noticed that!!! 😆
Without music like this, life would be a mistake.
Without life, music would be impossible.
+Myanameis Beestingz Without music, life would be boring as fuck.
Grant Duvall Islam makes music, drinking and dancing against the law.
Myanameis Beestingz Ok....that's nice I guess?
Grant Duvall Just putting things in context for ya.
They always include the post recording moment.
Pure relieve after flawlessly doing such a thing.
when I was a young boy my father took me into the city to see OK Go play in a marching band.
That sounds more like Green Day.
HE SAID "SON THIS IS FLIPPING AWESOME, WILL U BE
When I was a young boy my father took me into the woods to see OK Go play in a marching band.
when I was a young boy my father took me into the desert to see OK GO play in a marching band.
Whrn I was a young woman I took my sister to a free outdoor ok go concert. We were late, it was very crowded and we couldn't squeeze in by the front area, so we snuck in by the back and ended up on one side of the stage area behind a huge stack of amps....we sat on an old trunk behind the amps but midway through the performance we had to jump off and hold the lid open for the band.
Turns out it was full of paper confetti that they fed into a blower machine and shot above the crowd!
It doesnt add to the meme but it was one of my favorite concert experiences....they were excellent live
Phew... this just saved me. Thanks guys.
why did you click on this video bashur?!?!??!
Those camouflaged musicians were so well camouflaged. :3
Bashurverse Hi Bash!
Holy shit bashurverse is dead, I never even realized. That's so sad
heh, I don't know, but I love the clip's last moments when we hear the voice saying "cut!" and everyone just resting up or applauding the result of their effort, makes it kinda cute. Specialy because in some videos we get to see the production team, when most music videos try to HIDE the production aspects.
+MrKlausbaudelaire I always like seeing the production team, goodness knows they need a lot of production crew to make their videos as awesome as they are. Their videos always show humility, though.
True. It's great that they include it especially for The Writings on The Wall. That's ending is my Favorite.
Chey Meow And seeing how much work was done on that.
They do that in most of their videos. It's pretty funny and original.
I love at the very front of the group, the drum major takes off his stupid fuzzy hat and puts on a baseball cap instead xD
Even after years of rewatching, this performance always gives me chills.
So true - bevause you have a high IQ and know.
is it just me or does this band seem to have waayyy to much fun making their music videos
They probably want to make music, not money....
*eyes pop culture*
Graves uhhh I honestly think the musics just a cover for them to do whatever the hell they want in video.
Kalmnir apparently they come up with ideas by playing around and throwing ideas at a metaphorical wall and seeing what sticks and then developing an idea from there.
So yeah, I’d say fun and play have a big part in the process. Plus I mean, this sounds and looks fun as hell. That’s why their videos are possibly the best around.
Not possible. You’re SUPPOSED to have this kind of fun with your own music!
If you aren't having fun making art are you really making art?
When I first heard this, I was preparing to move out of my mom's house and to college, almost 5 years ago. Now I'm only 2 semesters from completing my degree, married, and pregnant with my first. This song continues to give my heart peace ❤️
And now its been 5 more years
Listening in 2021. Still super underrated.
Brought me to tears. Not sure if from nostalgia, my current state of life right now, my mental issues… I don’t know man.. but I felt something. For sure.
Listening in 2022 and this song is still super underrated
Listening in 2023 and love it as much as ever
My roommate is in this video. I remember how excited he was during this process! Way to go Doug!
7 years, and it still gets me emotional.
+DgShadowChocolate 7 years, What???
this hasn't been out for 7 years
+Elias Culver Ah, 6 years. My math was off. January, 2010.
It's actually been 10 since this was originally released. Google it
actually, it had been 10 years of "here we goes again". not this yet
My favorite thing ever
Love your videos
literally
So this song describes my divorce. It's not my favorite thing ever.
Around 4 years ago, I started really getting into OK Go. That period of my life was so, incredibly difficult, but this song was thrown into my daily routine, and it made things a little brighter. Now I'm here in 2016, and I never even thought I would make it this far and I'm sitting here openly weeping because you guys helped me so much. So, thank you, Damian, Tim, Andy, and Dan, you guys rock.
I hope that you are still doing well! :)
hope you're still doing well after the past year and a half!
Now you’ve helped me, because they helped you!!
@@BrianJT I meant to respond to this but time got away from me. Still struggling, but hanging in there!
I thought this song was a fever dream. A hallucination induced by lack of sleep but I found it! It does exist!
I think it's amazing that they decided to make this MV because they knew the Rube Goldberg version mv wouldn't be ready in time for the release of their album. (I also think they had some disagreement with their label over this first mv which is when they decided to start their own label.)
I love the kids just playing on the bands drums, when it was over. I just think it's hilarious.
The band nerds are so happy, me being one of them. My heart is filled.
Yep! Ive been out of high school for 25 yrs and being in marching band all 4 yrs is still one of the happiest times of my life
My favorite of them all - but what a repertoire of amazing music videos. Joy inspiring, cathartic, hope bolstering ... this video is a go to for me.
Sometimes songs hit you at the right time in your life…and it is awesome!
It does and you rule!
whenever i feel like i should give up im going to listen to this song
I love OK Go!
Cassandra Frey really? i didn't know
Amy pond The Timelord Traveler Yeah. My favorite song by them is probably Needing/Getting. It reminds me of how me and my dad were for most of my life.
Hey there Amy, so how are you and Rory doing nowadays?
Professor Oak good
There are the band's that you like because of their music, then there are the band's that you like because of their personality and creativity. Ok Go makes great songs (this one has a great message and tune. One of my favorites by them) and THE BEST VIDEOS. No band will ever make better videos than Ok Go and that's what sets them apart from all the other musicians out there.
Even without an enormous budget, they still put on a great show.
I will never tire of watching these guys...
My wife of 8 years just left me and my son... It hurts so bad but this song help the pain so much. Thank you OK GO.
Yeah, that happened to me once too. Once, 'I was out on a leisurely stroll in the woods when suddenly I was ambushed by a marching band.
Thank you so much for making this song, OK Go. In the past few years I have been diagnosed with bipolar disease, and there were some times when I was just so sad for no reason, but your song helped me through it and I am now able to deal with my condition and I'm living a happy life.
My all time favorite music video. It is impossible to not feel good after watching this.
it is impossible to not feel good after watching OK GO videos
I love these guys.
I'm of two minds regarding this version and the Rube Goldberg version. I love the ingenuity of the Rube Goldberg machine and how much work went into that (and how many times they had to run through it to get it right). But this version is more satisfying on an emotional level. OK Go can always be counted on to do something visually impressive even if it's as simple as a marching band in a field.
David Dutton I disagree, my cousin was beaten to death by a trombone player in a ghillie suit.
Ahhh I see, you live in Detroit then
There will never be a time when that first “Leeeeeeeet iiiiiiiit goooooooo thiiiiiiiis toooooooo shaaaaaaaall paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaass” doesn’t give me chills.
Watching this video gives me hope for humanity. Just utterly joyful.
This makes me miss marching band. A lot.
2017 will be my last I'm a Junior right now :/. Marching Band is definitely my favorite thing in High School.
join drum corps
Ive been out of high school for akmost 20 years and honestly, 4 years of marching band was one of the best times I've had in my life

I keep coming back again and again!! I LOVE this!!!
I grew up in the 80s. Music videos were the thing back then. This group I just recently discovered. They are a breath of fresh air. Can't believe I haven't heard of these guys yet. It goes to show of all the slop on tv and in the music indy that they shove down our throats.
This band has more talent in their pinky finger than most artist you hear about today.
The sound of that band is so powerfully inspirational.
This by far is the best OK Go Music Video. It is also one of there best songs.
Complete nostalgia for my 80's marching band days. Had so much fun.
This song makes me cry EVERY TIME (in a perfect way)
I'm so happy this song was on the bug screen! One of my favourites now recognised on 2023 the Flash movie! 👏👍
I never knew the rube Goldberg machine vid wasn't the actual video. wow.
It is! There are two actual videos haha
This is THE coolest band video I have EVER seen. This is AWESOME!!!
Those xylophone solos are over the top. 5 seconds of pure xylophone rock!
Even after 12 years, I watch this video every morning. That's truly amazing!
And the woodwind section pops out of their ghillie suit enhanced cover!
Brings a tear to my eye to see and hear this now after so long
there are no word to tell you how much I needed to hear this.
This video just makes me smile, especially when I look at Damian's happy face.
My older brother showed me this song when I was young. It was one of the first UA-cam videos I saw. I watched it over and over as a kid, and I still come back to watch it often. It feels like I'm right back in my childhood every time, with my brother anticipating my reaction to the camouflaged players popping out of the grass and excitedly pointing out that the camera was on a crane at the end. Me and my brother aren't close, but we were when he showed me this. I'm so glad he shared it with me. An incredible song and performance.
Just came across this wonderful video. It made me smile and those have been rare, lately. I love that so many of the comments are about how much joy this song brought to people. Thank you OK Go!
I still return to this video when I'm having a hard time. Thank you for this beautiful moment of positivity that I can call on when I need it.
This song makes me feel so emo that I openly weep when the chorus hits! hahaha why? I do not know! it's that magic.
I refuse to believe this song is 11 years old...
most underrated band ever.
HELL YA!
I was nine when I first fell in love with this band, by this video alone and now I'm turning 20 and this withstands the test of time.
Ok Go just plain out rocks! Live with a marching band??!!! How cool is that! Other version is fun but I love this one. Band Geeks Rule!
As many times as I watch this, I always get a little choked up about 2/3 of the way through. Oddly moving.
Hands down the most creative band in America
Totally. Entirely. Under-rated!!!!❤❤❤
1) who thinks all this ingenious stuff up? 2) how do they plan all these intricate details out? 3) how can they get all those instruments to sound so good with all the jumping up and down, esp at the beginning with the Gillie suits? These guys are underrated.
are you one of the people who disliked the video? just askin'
no i freakin loved it!
Dan Nunya alright!
ITS CALLED PRACTICE!!!
ive worked with kids before in situations involving exact timing, choreography, etc. takes more than just practice to get them to get things right.
Hi all, just signed in to post this,
been going through some tough times lately and this video has really helped.
"You can't keep letting it get you down"
Crying and listening to this. Thank you Ok Go
My son's favorite video as a toddler. Now he's a teenager in marching band.
I've seen many 'drum & bugle' bands lose members to the field fainting, but this is the first where they literally get folks *from* the field.
Brilliant! Well done & great photography.
This song blew my mind when it first came out and it's still a banger all these years later
PLEASE make this song an even bigger hit now that it ended off The Flash movie. PLEASE. It deserves all its flowers now
yea.. I thought the song was new.. turns out..
Saw the Flash last night and heard for the first. Fell in love with it instantly
This is so fricking weird that it is perfect for the one year anniversary of the pandemic!
THANK YOU OK GO!
Awesome! love that they used a marching band to such great effect!
Stoked to hear this on the big screen
I'm not the only one that cries when watching this video or hearing this song, am I? "Let it go, this too shall pass."
This is my favourite OK Go song.
big foot
Those grass dudes were the best!!
barbaro267 Grass dudes? They’re called ghillie suits

I'm a big fan of You song
i remember watching this for the first time when i was little with my dad. i still watch it and think it’s one of the coolest music videos ever. thank you so much
Grandiose, magnificent sublime. Thank you so much.
The grass people super blend in xD
Ghillie suit. It's called a ghillie suit.
lmao yeah i know but grass people sounds funny :)
I prefer the term "Bush Wookie".
That's the reason why it's called camouflage...
Omg!! They have returned.. The grass people!! I thought we had got rid of them in the great fire of 86, grab your lawn mowers and hedge trimmers people, this shit just got real!!
Pretty sure if you listed the top 50 music videos of all time pretty much every one of their videos would be represented
Guess I’ll come back every year to repeat how happy this song makes me in this specific version. Ok Go is just so special, hope I’ll get to come see you live before I die.
excellent ...been watching this video for years, it has always gave me goose ... thanx
This video is a gift to humanity. Thank you, OK Go.
This is by far my favorite OK Go video, and that's saying something. Always brings a tear to my eye! I'm a little sad it wasn't on the album.
I feel like they probably would have put it on the album if it weren't for that one really out of tune trumpet and the tempo fluctuating so much
ohowjuicy
Yes...that trumpet...the flat one right? :( But I still loved the song/video!
@@ohowjuicy When? I don't hear it.
@@lonewalling938 :52 is when it starts. Definitely flat
I never get tired of watching this video.
Watching this with closed captions on is a whole other experience
I bet you every kid who was in band was looking at this so fondly.
Speaking as an '80s Blue Devil, I approve of the jacket design!
This music video version of this song is 10x better than the studio version!!! Same with Needing/Getting.
I think this might be my favorite video on youtube, of all time. Even now, years later, I get chills watching it.
This song literally saved my life.
is this the marching band that MCR saw as a young boy?
+dontmessup63 bYE
took me a moment to realize what you meant
*hears G note* *cries*
I came for this comment. thanks. now gimme some time to cry in the corner
yEESSS😂😂😂
Hey Ok Go it's been like almost 2 years since I seen this video and heard your song. But I gotta tell ya y'all kept me from falling apart ( I know it so cliche-ish and all 7 billion people collectively had a bad year at the same time ) and putting a honest smile where depressions tide could have washed over me so many different times. And for that I thank you, Rock On and Much Respect Goes out to all the people involved!
Stay Healthy!
This video is the only reason I joined band. Almost 8 years later still loving it.
Still one of my all-time favorite music videos :-) I love the energy in the song and the video is marvelous!
song: *stops*
band: *starts playing*
this is peak marching band experience
13 years later and this song still just pops up in my head and I have to watch this again
Truly the most orignal, artistic, inventive , unique , self reliant , band of all time . THERE .. I SAID IT ! Somebody needs to .
congratulations, you got another song stuck in my head
I love how exhausted the main dude was but then when he finally knew they got the good shot and he got so happy.
I'm an old guy....this is freaking Awesome
