My dad went through the attack on Pearl Harbor and was severly wounded. He was one of the first survivors to come back to the states. He never really talked about that experience but he always talked about the fact that Rita Hayworth came in her own car and took him to the Navel Hospital in Corona, CA. He never forgot that kindness. She was a class act.
Such a nice and moving story. Thank You.

Because of her beauty, one forgets that Rita Hayworth was actually an incredibly accomplished dancer and this is how she even started. This is a great reminder of this lovely and multitalented woman.

No woman ever moved her hips more sinuously and sensuously while dancing than Rita Hayworth. As someone else mentioned, they were absolutely perfectly in sync. That takes not only great talent, but days and days of hard work.

Fred Astaire when asked who his favorite dance partner was, he answered, Rita. The feeling was mutual, they both loved working with each other and it showed.

Her family was largely Spanish (a fact that she was immensely proud of) and they were all very talented dancers. The family used the dancing skills of young Rita in order to make more money with their shows.

I have seen many movies with Fred Astaire where he has partnered with some wonderful female dancers. I have not seen this clip, though, with Rita Hayworth. WOW...she definitely held her own.

Capable of the same loose limbed weightless appearing grace as Fred. Talent & charisma are funny things.
When I watch Fred Astaire with any other partner, I can't take my eyes off him. His dancing is so smooth & seemingly effortless.
But when he's with Rita Hayworth...she's the only one I see. I almost forget the tuxedo beside her is actually Fred Astaire. I think it's that she just seems to LOVE dancing. All her subtle head tilts, the way she holds her shoulders but moves her hips, how she flips her hair with such abandon--her dancing is refined but unique & full of personality. Every move just seems to say 'There's nothing else I'd rather be doing!'. She's brings such charisma, charm & joy to their performances.

Amazing dancing, watching Rita Hayworth and Fred Astaire I was spellbound. Rita Hayworths arm movements were perfection so effortless and graceful, her head swings during the dance wonderful. I danced when younger , this takes a lot of hard work, what a talent they both had.

Your aunt is absolutely correct. It's easy to spot that they are not dancing to Sway mainly because the choreography doesn't match the music. The movie in which they are dancing is called You'll Never Get Rich (made in 1941) and the song is So Near and Yet So Far ua-cam.com/video/4EU8miZtzNk/v-deo.html Sway was written in 1953 (12 years later) by Mexican bandleader Pablo Beltran Ruiz) Many years later, Fred Astaire did admit on camera that out of all his dance partners, Rita Hayworth was the one closest to him in ability and musicality. They probably couldn't have worked together for long because he and Rita were both total perfectionists and would have clashed whereas with Ginger, he worked out the choreography and she simply followed.
I wish I could meet your aunt to discuss Taemin. He is considered the best dancer in K Pop and there is no doubt that Astaire would be in utter admiration before him. Both are gods. @@cor3944 I agree; I hadn't seen this before except once, but this time I noticed how her dancing caused Fred to seem more masculine than he usually does and how he frequently focused on her hips and legs as he was watching her. I only noticed that the dress has a very high slit near the end, because the skirt is quite full....but this video to this music convinces me that Astaire was well aware of that.
