I add the vinegar when making the broth not after. It helps leech the calcium and other trace minerals from the bones and into the broth.
Mary Silverthorn what kind of vinegar? Do I add it in the water while it’s cooking the broth?
G M you could do apple cider vinegar
Awesome tip, thanks!
Yes I was gonna say this until I saw you mentioned it.
I usually use apple cider vinegar but I’ve also used regular white vinegar and sometimes I use fresh lemon slices (chicken bone broth) as I think it gives it a nice zing and I heard it’s the acidity that helps extract nutrients from the bone (which lemon juice has).
I haven't made beef bone broth, in years...one thing...add the vinegar before you put the bones and such, in the slow cooker...vinegar helps to leach the marrow from the bones....marrow gives more flavor
So true! In fact one is supposed to leave bones to leech in vinegar and water for a couple of hours before starting th cooking process
100%
what about breaking the bones before you cook?
Oops! Add vinegar before simmering overnight 8 hrs or more. Bone broth is the new coffee folks! 💪🌞👏
A great tip is to add a jalapeno! If you like spice, just score the skin (don't even bother chopping it). If you prefer no spice at all, don't score the skin. The whole pepper just adds a certain something to it!
Yes to bone broth! Saved me during morning sickness when I was pregnant.
Amethyst Bottroff really i still suffering
How much bone broth were you having each day? And how did you take it?
I add apple cider vinegar at the beginning of the cooking process, I read that that helps to loosen the marrow from the bone as it Cooks... Any thoughts on this?
I really love adding lentils in it!! Its so good
OMG this is such an easy recipe and the broth looks sooo delicious! Thank you very much for sharing your recipe!
I'm so excited to try this!!!
A while back I was looking for a bone broth recipe but never found a good one and just today I bought some already made broth. I’m so glad you made this video this is just what I needed I’ll definitely be trying it out after I finish the one I bought lol thanks 😊😊
My mom would use her bone broth to make the most delicious soups adding barley, kale, chard, of course meat. Mmm so good. Hey Mom......can you make me some soup lol
Thank you for this bone broth recipe just what I need thank you may God Bless 🙏
Thank you, perfect timing.
Scoop the fat? This is the most nutrients part. "Fat is bad" is a MYTH ! 😐
@Krystiano MB As long as you’re still exercising right, or no? And is there a difference between ‘good’ & ‘bad’ fat?
@@DBLuvPack
You don't necessarily need to exercise the fat off....As long as you keep the carbs low, fats are a Great source of energy. Fat+carbs= a problem! Unhealthy fats are ones like Canola,Crisco, hydrogenated oils.
Ya, I keep the fat in mine, I warm the whole mug, mix it in, and guzzle it.
It’s the collagen that you want.
There's good and bad fat
Thank you so much! Extremely helpful. 😘😘
i was so excited to see this! thanks so much for sharing this recipe and these tips! 💕💕💕💕💕happy holidays
Oooh this looks good. I can make a simplified Pho soup with this! Looks great.
YAYY this was needed ! I'm so ill right now 😭 LOVE YOU 💕
I hope you feel better soon!
Looks very flavorful! Thank you for sharing!
yes yes YESSSSS!!!! I’ll be trying this soon.
Thank you for doing this...it was helpful directions..love all your videos
So excited to try this!!
Adding the vinegar before the cook and letting it sit for 30 minutes allows time for the acid to extract more calcium and other nutrients from the bones.
Great video! I recommend giving the bones a quick boil and rinse before following your recipe. This eliminates a lot of the fat and icky stuff that you don't want in your broth.
The fat is the most nutritious. Don’t do this..
Have you tried an Instant Pot? Bone broth in 90 minutes, and it is DELICIOUS!!! I love the tip on roasting the veggies!!! Love your channel!!! :-)
I lover your recipe, quick and easy. Thanks you!
Thank you so much wanted to know how to make this...
Thanks! I've been wanting t make bone broth for some time now. I've read I'm supposed to cook it for 20+ hours to get all the benifits. So now I'm confused
This looks like the easiest and BEST recipe.❤❤❤
Just what I needed. Thank you. Happy holidays
I hope you have a wonderful
Holidays too!
My two cents for anyone interessted:
1) if you find it boring or don't want to drink that much broth without anything, just make crepes or thin pancakes, cut them in thin maybe 1.5 inch long stripes and add them to your soup bowl before reheating it.
2) I think if you're sick, you should not take off all the fat since your body needs some source of energy even if you may lay in bed doing nothing.
Hi How much Bone Broth do a person use in stews or soups? Do I use Tablespoons or cups?
@@metoo3039 I usually use as much as given in recipes. Regarding your question is tablespoons or cups, if more likely tend to use cups. But for cases when your just using it as a base for a sauce, few tablespoons might be enough.
@@Bladewing342 Thank You so much for your prompt reply. Your two cents worth of 3 years ago became my 10c answer. 🌹 I'm new to this and would like to use it in my daily life minus the drinking part lol. I would like to incorporate this for the whole families benefit. If I'm using cups that means I need to make quite alot of Broth then.
@@metoo3039 you're welcome. I total understand your engagement.
For the beginning is recommend you to get some ready to mix broth powder (really bad term, I'm from Germany) and prepare it with warm/hot/boiling water in a cup/bowl that is safe for the heat of the liquid you're going to pour in. The powder is pretty cheap so in case you prepare more than needed, it's not that bad. With the prepared broth - which isn't much of a quality loss compared to homemade beef broth, you can cook any recipe and you'll learn how much you need.
@@Bladewing342 much appreciate it. I will look into the powder. Thank you so much again for replying and advise 🍒
I woke up too early and the weather looks terrible, but I have binge watched your soup and broth videos to make some to take to work and now I am happy about the cold and the rain, thank you, they are all lovely!
Haha I woke up really early too today and also.. it’s been raining ALL day here too and I ended up here trying to think about eating healthier😳🤣❤️ We’re twins
this would be good to make phó.. obviously not authentic phó but something easy and yummy!
Thank u very much I believe in all of your recipes
Yes very easy thank you. Double thumbs up
I Love Everything you do Great Videos Keep them coming....... and Thank You for sharing . What do you do with the rest of your vegetables and goodies in your Crockpot? It would be ashame to throw them out do you have any ideas or suggestions?
Puree the vegetables and make ice cubes and keep in the freezer for adding flavor when making soups and other dishes. Hth.🙂
thank you for a great channel I'm doing a bone broth as we speak and I just need to know what do you do with the too layer of fat after you remove it?
I just made it today, in my Crock Pot on low. Thank you so much.
Hi great video! Does it matter if the chicken feet used to make bone broth is hormone/antibiotic free/organic or will regular chicken feet be ok?
,merci Chef pour votre magnifique recette
Would you add the ACV at the begining of the simmering time or at the end as it appears to be when you added it?
Looks great!!! Do you think I can make this with chicken bones? I'm looking for such a recipe. and one more question: when do you peel the carrots and onion and when not? Sorry I'm new to this but I trust your recipes because they are tried and true. Thanks!!
Very helpfull thank u!!
Adding the vinegar has nothing to do with acidity; add vinegar BEFORE you cook to ensure the breakdown of the bone marrow, thus bringing more nutrients to the broth and a much better flavour.
ask the butcher to hit the bones with the sharpest tool they have just to cut into each one so the marrow shows to allow the water to reach the marrow and try it without vinegar. you will never use vinegar again after that :)
music box thanks for the tip! I have been using acv in my broth before I cook it as well
Shae Williams you are very welcome! traditionally, we don't use it here. but some people do enjoy it. :)
i see a lot of bones now in the store that the butcher has cut lengthwise opening up the entire length of the marrow. they're getting smarter...lol
@Laura Filby I heard the same exact thing. Any acidic ingredient (ACV/lemon juice/etc) helps to extract as many nutrients as possible from bones.
I make chicken bone broth quite a bit but never done beef. If I’m asking my butcher for bones is there a certain type i should ask for?
I've been making my own bone broth for quite some time now. I don't have a slow cooker so I just put the pot on the stove before I go to bed and by the time I wake up, it'll pretty much be ready. But you wanna know what the worst part is? THE FREAKING SMELL WHEN I WAKE UP AT 7 IN THE MORNING. Oh dear lord. But it's really good for you so I try not to mind that that much. lol. Thanks for sharing this recipe though.
This looks so good I am definently going to try this.
Enjoy!
glad i clicked the video despite the number of views but pls let us now for what time and temp did you roast the bones txs
Which temperature do you use? No low/high here. I use a multi cooker where the temperature and time is set directly.
What do you do with all those delicious vegetables after you remove from pot?
make more coffee recipes I tried your other ones and they are good AF so please do another video on them, thank you PS maybe try to make some holiday inspired coffee like peppermint mocha
Lovelee had me so excited... I'm so happy I subscribed... Everytime I search for something there she is...I am Luv it...👍
Hi, in slow cooker on saute or pressure cooker setting? Also before putting it in oven to cook do you use any seasoning or coat oil on vegetables?
Awesome thanks
Wonderful video! You should have your own show on the Food Network.
Oven temperature, please ?
Thanks for sharing this recipe .
Good job!
Question: Would wine work as well as vinegar? Putting it in at the beginning is what I have heard too.
What is the volume of your slow cooker?
It looks pretty big, a link to it will be useful.
Thanks
Thank you. Is there a mushroom broth?
What do you do withe veggies?
The bones from a roasted chicken makes a great broth as well.
Can you reheat bone broth after having in the fridge and drink the next day will it have the same type of affect ??
It can be pressure canned too
Add the venegar with your bones bc the vinegar (or lemon juice) helps extract the nutrients from the bones into the water. I agree with adding roasted vegables, but not at the same time as the bones. I cook bones for an entire day (in slow cooker on high during the day and on low through the night) and then add roasted veggies for the last 6 hours and parsley for the last 1-2 hours. Add salt and/or a little tomato paste to bones before roasting them and you'll get the best flavor.
ACV should be added in the beginning. It helps release the nutrients in the bones while simmering
Could u share some wid veg options or chicken. Is Is necessary for let it cook for 12 hrs ? N lastly is there any othr option othr dan slow cooker
Hi have made a batch of beef broth very similar to your video, it's okay but little taste (bland) also made chicken broth and this seems better i.e. i go to the pot for a second dish of it. Is there anything i can do to give the beef broth a better taste. on my second batch i did put a couple of oxo cubes in but still about the same taste
What do you do with the roasted then slow cooked veggies
Can we use pressure cooker instead of slowcooker?
I tried this broth for my grandma and she loved it. Now I have decided to give her this broth regularly along with Planet Ayurveda's bone support capsules.
Top top bravo
Can you use this in soups? Just curious what else it can be used for besides sipping.
Sure why not.
excellent
May I use the pressure cooker?
Thxs for recipe dear. Where r u from pl.
What about adding Tumeric and Ginger for added health benefits?
I make bone broth sometimes and for sure beef bones are the tastiest by far!!! wow... and I love the nice gelatin slush on top :-) I use it later to make soups and pretty much replace it for other things such as water for making rice and pasta. It is so wonderful! I also find that roasting the bones beforehand is a nice added touch. I put the vinegar before too. But I leave the slow cooker on for 24 hours. I guess that is overkill?
Shelly-Ann Wong Brown no...24 hrs is perfect! I use that method as well
I’d like to make chicken bone broth. Do you cook the whole chicken and then debone?
Please let me know
My bone marrow is floating as well. Does this usually happens. I need to skim the fat, but dont want to miss out on the bone marrow, correct?????
can you do it in powder form ??
And this we should drink it warm hot or cold?
I make my own stock every autumn and use it all winter in all my soups and stews. Much tastier than broth. I make beef, chicken, and pork, and then freeze them. Everyone asks me why my food is so good and it's because I use stock (bone broth) instead of just broth.
Feen Murphy what’s the difference between stock and broth? I always thought they were the same!
Feen Murphy pleeeeaaase share the recipes
I don't make videos, but I have set up a blog to share recipes and things with my friends and my [now grown] kids. Unfortunately, I caught the flu right after I set it up. It's LaineMurphy dot com though, so check there and I'll work on getting my stock, soup, stew, and other recipes up asap.
Feen Murphy thank you so much, please take your time, it's Mercury retrograde! feel better soon, I will sub for new posts email notifications! oh the feature is not available, i'll just save the lovely lilac image to my pinterest so i don't lose your page
So I need to keep it in the fridge for 3 days before drinking it ?
Just saw you on the Dr oz show congrats.
Can you do a recipe video on chicken bone broth?
Its the same. I make chicken and turkey bone broth all the time. You can totally use rotisserie chicken bones for a chicken bone broth if you want to make it really easy.
Thxs for video.
Thanks for watching!
I didn't realise bone broth was taken just as it is! ! 10hours wow but Im sure it's worth it xx
Thanks very nice video...
Thanks for watching!
What if my butcher doesn’t have organic free range etc?? Is it still ok??
HAPPY Weekend
Nice
Hi does the meat/ chicken have to be organic
Any substitute for the apple cider vinegar?
Expiry date once stored?
What kind of slow cooker is that?
I made Turkey broth from my roasted bird, but left the fat that rose to top to seal it when I froze it. I've no idea if this helps or not.
Can i use white vinegar instead of ACV? It has alcohol n not suitable for me.
Would you use cabbage in your broth
FIRST COMMENT! THIS WAS AWESOME SARAH!
Yah!! Thanks for being so early!
