It's true, people worry about their kids whenever time to downgrade comes along, but kids are resilient and are quick to adapt. If you tell them that you lost your lucrative job, they'd probably feel more sorry for you than themselves. The people that find it hard to adjust are the adults.

They become too comfortable and complacent with where they work at and they forget that security doesn’t exist with these jobs and that we can lose it at any moment. I also love what was said about following dreams and the question that was asked about how much they paid him to forget his dream and I see it so often today especially with old folks who work at the chemical plant with me. They been here for like 40 years and don’t seem happy to me

Dumb fuck take. Where do you get money? Working. Where do you get health insurance? Working. Where do you get a 401K? Working. People always say that every blue haired college lib can't be a writer, communications major, artist or whatever. Then, dumb fuck knuckleheads who are getting their wages cucked by their bosses like you say that people can't rely on their jobs? You swallowed the bullshit, congrats. Grow up, look out for yourself, join a union.

For me is was 50k + bonuses and a company car. It took me less than 3 years before I quit and followed my dreams. My dream job was playing on the PGA Tour. Didn't make it, but in the process went through the PGA Apprentice program and eventually became a head golf professional at a nice country club. It's a much more enjoyable job than the one I walked away from when I decided to follow my dreams.

Most companies today don't even have this kind of negotiation process. One day you go to work, the HR and security will show up by your cube and tell you to collect all personal belongings, then walk you out of the building with 2 weeks pay. Good luck.

Where I live, the period of notice is between 1 month and 6 months (10 years minimum), depending on how long you've worked for the company. During this period you are entitled to full pay and other benifits regardless of wheter you are given any tasks to do or not.

    • @gherbihicham8506
      @gherbihicham8506 6 років тому +5

Colin Walsh Because people are not machines, they give them the two weeks pay because that employee can search for a new job in that period without worrying about what he'll eat during that time, it seems only fair, two weeks are even inhumane, it should be more when you get fired for no reason.
Also when you have your own slave army in your capitalist utopia then you can fire people as you please without having to worry about paying them for wasting their time at your precious company.

    • @KaiserFlash

I was mostly speaking in context. It seems that many of the employees that were fired had relatively high paying jobs, but were still living paycheck to paycheck. People have been living beyond their means for years because of easy access to consumer credit and the pressure to "keep up with the Joneses." If you have all your finances in order losing your job, a down economy, having to take a lower paying job become an inconvenience rather than a catastrophe.

    • @losupnext2966

It is not hard to do. Take 1% of your check Everytime you get paid and eventually 2% and so on. Stop spending on Starbucks Fiji water and fancy dinners. Have TWO savings one for your financial investments, and two for your regular savings just in case your that guys getting let go from your job. Don't think big your not going to have 2K in your bank account in 2months but you will in a year. The years are going to pass anyways. Do this and READ BOOKS on the subject it's that easy.

A lot of truth to this. My uncle who was an exotic car mechanics was supposed to take over ownership of the exotic euro dealer he worked for, but he got fucked in the end by the family. He knew his real passion was always to be in the medical field, so he decided to go back to school, in his 50s, to become a doctor.

So he looked for work in other countries and 22 years later he kicks ass as an engineer

Then gotten up and threw George out the fucken window. Followed by asking the bimbo if she wanted to fly or fuck.

This wouldn't have worked on me lol I mean the acting here is great and all but there isn't anything that they could say that would turn around my anger and disappointment from losing a 90K job.

Nice advice there sport. You just encouraged him to start a new career at his age that pays slightly more than unemployment. Yeah, that's going to feed his kids.

Don't you just get a pink slip in your mailbox?

There's actually different companies that handle things in different ways. There are even different jobs at the same company, amazingly.

It depends on the company you work for. If you worked for a closely knit company, yes, someone will sit you down and discuss options because you were a part of the family. Now, if you worked a for conglomerate, chances are that you're just a number in their ledger and will cut you faster than you can refill your coffee mug.....and they will have their high priced attorneys ready to battle you in court for five+ years while you challenge the dismissal.

OH! it's alright! i don't mind that i got fired because i have a minor in french culinary arts? what fucking kitchen is going to hire a man in his late 50's early 60s to be their new head chef?

Watching this with any sense of reality, Clooney's spiel is absolute bullshit, no-one in real life would ever fall for it. But's it Clooney and it's a film and it's acting, so we'll all go with it......but it is shit.

This is the most pathetic attempt of hollywood to depict layoffs. If you were making your partner (the company) money in your position you wouldn't be laid off. If you aren't worth what you were being paid and can't get that salary from someone else then celebrate the years you were overpaid and get the F over it.

Very niave of you their Henry. Let me guess you are in your late 20's early 30's. King of the hill of the little pond you swim in. Guess what, wait a bit, you'll figure out the reality of the world. By then you will only look back at yourself and say, what a fucking fool I was. Good Luck.

Not the case at all. Most of the time, massive layoffs happen because MGMT screwed up.
