Unbelievable, you really made a video! 🤗Thank you very much for taking the time, and I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge. I actually never reduced the quality but did resize further down the pixels. I end up having similar size like you. I actually found an old article from kodak, explaining the size of imaging needed to have a certain size of printing by still keeping a good quality. I will try with your parameters and print a couple for testing. However, my dropbox is deeply thankful and I am happy that finally there is a video speaking about quality/space optimisation. 🙏

Yes, glad it helped. Be sure to still keep the RAW files so you can go big with prints if you ever need to in the future

Cheers Tom, awesome video as always mate. Nice one ❤
I’d be interested in seeing how you process for instagram/facebook too but I know they move the goalposts so often that video might not be accurate for long!
Thanks again for all you efforts providing this free content to us

So the problem with these settings for facebook (and likely other socials) is that it exceeds the size they want and so they compress the file. It you use "long edge" and put it at a max of 2048 pixels, then you end up with a 1-3mb file that facebook won't compress.

Hey there! the idea of this video wasn't to save for facebook or social media, it was so the person that asked the question could get a decent quality photo saved on their computer without taking up too much room. I will make a video in the future that is specifically for saving to instagram and FB uploads... and you might be surprised with those results too... going to low with your instagram uploads can be a problem, but I will expand on that in future videos... appreciate your input thou

Strange than you decrease res but leave the DPI at same 300....240 dpi is not enough?

@@geodrone7643 you can drop dpi further if you like but this is giving a significantly smaller file size as it is, but if you want smaller again drop it to 240… a lot of print labs and printers go best at 300dpi.
