Your apartment appears to be fairly close to my neighbourhood. I used to stroll around the lake in the morning as shown in your video. Many people claim that Penang is better than KL since it is less crowded and congested than KL. However, if you're retired like I am, you may go out whenever it's convenient for you and decide to go out at off-peak hours. You can still live in peace in your home. Like you said, there are more restaurants, easy access to public transit, and many other services are readily available in large cities like KL.
In KL, particularly in neighbourhoods like Bangsar, Damansara Heights, Bukit Kiara, and even downtown KL, you can really discover more foreign cuisine. Even though KL offers a wider variety of dishes from all the states of Malaysia too, I still prefer the food in Penang. This is because I'm from Penang originally. As a result, I prefer Penang food to that of other states. Don't worry about mosquitoes; in my neighbourhood, the townhall offers free treatment every two weeks. Just let the management of your apartment complex know if you notice a lot of mosquitoes. Give yourself some time to adjust to life in KL before considering relocating yourself back to Penang. You'll be surprised to discover that the more you stay here, the more you like KL.

    Hi Bro.
As a Malaysian I'm very to happy to watch your UA-cam channel and hear your happy stories while in Malaysia. We hope you can stay forever in Malaysia and you are very good in promoting my beloved country.
In the late 70s, while as a teenager myself, I used to watch movies and TV shows where almost all are American made production. I remember the :
    1. Texas based TV Soap Opera "Dallas" 2. "Chips" with Erik Estrada
    3. "Little House on the Prairie" with Michael Landon and Melissa Gilbert
    4. "Six Million Dollar Man" with Lee Majors
    5. "Incredible Hulk" with Bill Bixby
    6. "Hawaii 5-0
    7. "Planet of the Apes"
and so on ... on daily basis.
At that time there are local made TV shows, some British TV Sitcoms like "Mind your own language" and "Dr Who", but all these can't beat the American productions which I feel are superb in terms of cinematography, screenplay, acting etc. Then in our local cinema I watch "Jaws", "Superman" etc.
This led me to think and wondering how on earth this American productions are so good. During final high school year I have a dream to study film making/cinematography in the US..just a day dreaming..but coming from a poor financial background family it's just a dream. My father can't even afford to buy a 16mm movie camera.
In the early 80s, Malaysian government sent and fully sponsored thousands of students with excellent results mostly to US in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Political Science including my cousins and schoolmates but not me. At that time I just wonder why our Government just Engineering or Science but not Film Making. I knew Film Making is a million dollar industry. Maybe that is not the priority at that time for nation building.
I knew some Malaysian guys pursue to study Film Making in the US but only rich kids and some Malaysian actors sponsored by Malaysian Film agencies.
Lastly my career is not Film making, but Computer Operations and Instrumentation Technology starting as entry level guy with minimal high school results.
Now I still believe in the potential of Film Industries with the advancement of Digital Cinematography and using AI for special effects. But sadly as there are many good movies in the 70s and 80s but now its boring to see robotic transformers type movies nowadays . No more nice TV sitcoms we used to see together as a family in the 70s and 80s.
No more 2D animation but boring 3D animation.
Well Kuala Lumpur in the 80s is also a big city, but no high rise buildings as of now only Maybank building is a landmark at that time..
Just my opinion now as a teenager in the 70s.

Also, there are two great venues for listening to classical music and watching theatre play.
They is the Istana Budaya (Palace of Culture) located beside the Titiwangsa lake park and the National Art Gallery. It is well known for musical theatre, operetta, classical concerts and international performances. It is already more than 20 years and will soon be closed for five years for renovation and upgrading. The last Broadway performance was The Sound of Music consist mainly from the American cast group.
The other one is the The Petronas Philharmonic Hall located at KLCC. It is specifically built for classical music. It has many international performances for all types of music genre. The ticket price is a little expensive and catered for the expatriates.

Thanks for your informative video Taylor! I love Malaysia, and have dreamed of retiring there, but when you say "All major religions are equally respected here." I don't think that Judaism is. At least their prime minister has said some terrible things about the Jewish people, and I think, as a Jew, I would be nervous living there. I wish it weren't the case. As I say, I adore the people, culture and food of Malaysia. If I'm wrong, please educate me, I WANT to be wrong about this!

I don't currently live in Malaysia, but I seriously don't think that you have anything to worry about, regardless of any comments made by the prime minister.

@@davelance8692 I would love to believe that, and most likely you're correct, but I'm sure you can see how I might not feel completely safe living there when the government openly scorns my religion. And again, I was just responding to Taylor's comment that "All major religions are equally respected".

Although I don’t think you would experience any outright anti-semitism, you are probably right about Judaism not being included. 😞

@@EddieAppell I understand. I was just responding to your comment "have dreamed of retiring there". I personally believe that there is a far greater amount of dangerous anti-semitism in the USA than exists in Malaysia. Obviously, I cannot quantify that, but am basing it on recent events of the past eight years.

Eddie, i'm trying to make this short and simple, as malaysian and a born muslim myself, all races and religion are welcome in Malaysia... As for Judaism, it's ok for you to practise in Malaysia, it's allowed, just so you know, there were Jews community with their own synagogue in Penang island before WW2...
Having said that, we do have uneasiness feelings with regards to Israel and their supporters (mainly due to Palestinian issue)... so, my suggestion is try not to randomly discuss the Palestine subject with muslims in Malaysia...
Other than that, you are most welcome and enjoy Malaysia for the culture, food, people, scenery and all we have to offer

When are you uploading the video on how to use the transports system- I need it, still catching grab every where. Don't forget the FREE buses that do KLCC - Go KL. great service just not at 3.30-5.30 pm when the workers pile on. Just a reminder still have to use a mask on public transport sadly 90% of white people are too good for it and don't. Wear one as respect for the locals that wear it. Shops shops and more shops starting to all look the same now. I will be moving on soon my lease of 12 months is up and they have put my rent up to RM6000 a month - you bloody you tubers putting it out there how nice the place is makes more people want to come here😠 But gives me chance to travel a bit more. Another great video Thank you🙏👍

I know the doctor said you're healthy but you can be more healthier by trying to achieve ideal BMI. Intermittent fasting is a great way to start.

I was in Malaysia about a month ago. I stopped over on my way back from Indonesia. This time I decided to visit Ipoh for 4 days and 4 days in KL. So dissapointed, didn't enjoy it at all. First ipoh is so run down and depressing. Four long days, regretted visiting this over hyped place. So dirty! Especially in the tourist area. Old Town isn't even worth checking out. So run down, I felt as if I was in downtown Los Angeles. So many businesses were shut, gone out of business. Not a single Grab driver had anything positive to say about the place. Not many good mid-range hotels. Overall not worth it. KL wasn't much better, it so run down, four years ago I really enjoyed my trip to Malaysia but now it's just a dump. Sure there are nice places but overall I found it to be a dump. People weren't so friendly, in fact I would say racist. Maybe I just had a bad experience this time. I don't think I will be returning or recommending Malaysia to anyone. As for retirement, I was shocked to learn from the local Chinese and Indians how badly the Malaysian government treats them. These people's grandparents helped build the country yet the government does NOT recognize them as citizens, even though they were born there. According to the government they are "visitors". I was completely shocked to hear this. Well good luck with the retirement in Malaysia, seems to me the government could care even less for expats. I certainly would not want a rude awakening by the government at some point. Recent news report say Malaysia has not done well after opening the country following Covid.

I'm sorry that you feel that way about Ipoh and KL. However I would like to correct you on the citizenship of the local Chinese and Indians. I do not know who did you speak with, but the fact is, every local Indians and Chinese who were born in Malaysia, and if one of their parents is a Malaysian citizen, then they get Malaysian citizenship. You should google a bit before you just believe whatever being said to you.
