I walk everyday in KL when I'm in town and once I walked from Bukit Bintang to the Great Eastern Mall (not impressed) and returned on Ampang Hilir and saw all the embassies. I tried to take a pic of the US Embassy and guards ran out and yelled "No Pictures". Oh well! 🤣 Once I walked from Bukit Bintang to Bangsar. And another time to Mid Valley mall. My friend traveled with me once to KL and I took him walking in the heat/humidity and now he won't travel with me anymore.🤣 I walk a lot of miles because when in KL I'm always eating! The food is so good. Happy 70th Taylor!!
Thanks, Taylor. I am so glad you've discovered Desa ParkCity and especially the dogs and dog people at the Arkadia Plaza shopping center. On my first visit there several years ago, I decided ParkCity would be my location when I finally have MM2H status. Not only is it well planned, but if one is active, there are so many walking/running paths and bike lanes and pools. I can't wait. BTW, there have been rumblings within the government in the last few days about MM2H, finally. That will be a great video for you to do, perhaps with one of the local agents (agents will be required) to highlight the new, easier (I hope!) processes for expatriates to get their residency visas.
God bless you Taylor. You're such a good (unofficial) ambassaddor for KL. Thank you for sharing the information. Very useful to future xpats thinking of retiring in KL or digital nomads.
I'd love to see a follow-up to this video showing us what each of the areas looks like... what is there to do in each one... parks, walking paths, restaurants, street-life, etc... Cheers and thanks!
Good morning Taylor 🌄 thanks for making a video weekly 🌹 yes expats just like to stick together it's like of students of same country or region like to group together in the foreign countries 😁
Happy Birthday Taylor 🎉 Hope you have something fabulous planned 😊 And thank you for this video, I like green neighbourhoods where you can walk and esp hear birdsong.
Taylor saved the best for last. Desa Parkcity is usually the last township to be discovered by expats who have lived in KL for some time. It doesn’t feel crowded. Lauded for its premium homes and liveability. A short driving distance to Mutiara Damansara and Bandar Utama where it host many big malls e.g. Aeon Mall, Ikea, IPC (Ikano Power Centre) and The Curve. Far from the CBD but with highways, it is a short journey to the city.
Seems like you need a car though to live there? I checked out public transportation from there and also from damsnsara heights. Seems like a very long and difficult journey to the center
They all sound amazing especially Desa ParkCity! Not so sure why you prefer Penang still when KL has its own charms and nearby an international airport makes it so much more convenient (and affordable)?
With Penang, you can breathe. It’s less a hectic place. You’re not as encroached as in KL. Some of the best foods are found at Gurney Plaza. My dream place to live is a condo within 5 minutes of walking distance from that plaza.
Your comment about Airbnb rentals is really important in condo searches. I would make sure a building prohibits short term rentals. It's a headache to find a condo pool and gym full each day with transient holiday guests or to find the lobby and elevators occupied with luggage carts.
Hi Taylor! I just started subscribing to your channel and I love you so much!! My husband and I have retired in Thailand last October and I really enjoy watching your adventure 💗
Happy Birthday! Wishing you a wonderful week as you look toward celebrating with your friends. A couple of weeks off is well deserved! i don't think you've missed any weeks off in the last year or so (except for Christmas i think).
I wish I could get into a situation like Taylor. I just handle the high heat and humidity of Southeast Asia, and living 24/7 with Air conditioning to keep from feeling worn out, even hiding out everyday from 12 pm to 5 pm.
Yes, short stay accom can be an issue. I been in KLCC 2 yers now and some guests would rent one bedroom then have 5 + staying there. Also handing out the key cards so outsiders can use pool gym etc. The body corp has clamped down on this and all guest need to be registered and photo ID. Has improved the living. Some great places and info, now got me looking if KLCC is best for me. Have great birthday, no dancing on tables or any thing silly now.
Good range and overview with options abundant. Bangsar should be added as a prime expat neighbourhood of course, but like you said the list goes on and on. In the last 5 years we kived in landed properties in Bangsar and Desa Sri Hartamas, before we moved over to a fabulous condo here in KLCC right opposite the Petronas towers. All on one floor, one minute walk to Suria KLCC, we found our spot and will stay here for as long as we can😊 Have a good weekend!
HI Taylor! Another excellent and informative video! Our family always cheers up hearing your voice! Can you do a video on Gamuda Cove. We are thinking about moving to Malaysia and living there. Thanks again for your amazing videos!
Hi Taylor, ly you may wish to shoot a video at Putrajaya, administrative capital of Malaysia. See the nice man- made late, nice modern bridges, lake, Take a boat ride etc. Putrajaya is a city specially built as an administrative centre for the country. KL still remains as a commercial capital.
It is the same story everywhere in the world, city centre areas are very expensive....the one for MYR15,000 would be beyond the reach of most I'd say....finding a studio in Bangsar for less than MYR1000 a month is incredible!!!
I wanted to point out that Ampang Hilir or Taman Tar is more preferred by expat with family with children going to school as ISKL(American School) is in Ampang… Used to stay in Taman TAR 10 years ago… So, not sure how it is now…
Hello Taylor. Great job! Any advice on how to connect with a realtor to take me around and schedule showings? Anyone in particular you'd recommend? And on a side note, would you be interested in organizing a local meet-up? For expats, UA-camrs and Retirees to get together. Sounds like a lot of work organizing something like that, but you are such a showman, I bet it would be a huge success. You may not realize it, but you are growing a "Tribe" and we all want to be with you. Ciao.
Desa Parkcity: Sofiya is next to South Brooks, both in Desa parkcity. The rental for Sofiya is much lower than SB because it is an "affordable housing" with less facilities than a full condo.
Another insightful and engaging video on life in KL. Thank you! One concern about condo buildings, particularly high rise ones, is the safety and integrity of the buildings. We have wondered about building codes and standards. In neighbouring Singapore, the standards seem to be very high, as is the enforcement. What about KL? How do potential renters (or buyers) find out about a building’s quality?
Thank you for this vid. Helps me with my future search, should MM2H (revamped) makes sense. As with anything Malaysia, one step forward, a half step back and then side steps that make little sense. Holding my breath (not). :-) No matter, KL is still a nice spot to end up.
Thanks Taylor👍 Brilliant video and very informative too👏👏 I’m thinking of moving out to KL in august? I was going to move to Thailand but with their new tax laws it makes it impossible now!
