I love metal, I played bass in a death metal band for 15 years, and I love all your metal covers. That being said if you channel was nothing but you shredding Latin jazz, I'd never get anything done, because I could watch this all day long.

Estepario is pretty adamant on his own behalf that it's the hard work and approaching practice like a full time job versus what most of us think of as talent. He gets pretty annoyed at people who chalk it up to talent . He certainly is not "not talented" but his superpower is his ability to stay focused for the long haul and show up almost every day and keep pushing himself to what is just out of reach. Es un chico humilde, detrás de cada talento hay horas de dedicación, displina y constancia. Detrás de Genios como Velázquez, Picasso, Betoven, Mozart, Sakerpeare, Newton y Einstein, hay horas, horas y horas de dedicación. Yo toco la guitarra flamenca pero por horas infinitas que le echara jamás tocaría como Paco de Lucía o tú cómo El Estepario Siberiano la batería. Las dos cosas son necesarias, querido amigo: talento y trabajo, para que aflore.
0:23 En el momento en que tienes que tener en cuenta el 2/3 del hi-hat mientras tocas el resto, te das cuenta de que así a primeras es imposible hacer apenas nada. Es como si hubieras desarrollado 3 cerebros para poder tocar esto con esa independencia, brutal. Para los que no estamos habituados a la música latina, es aún más impresionante ver cómo has tocado aquí. Chapeau.
Amigo creo que estás exagerando un poco, más que desarrollar 3 cerebros creo que realmente la gente no está acostumbrada a ver el proceso de aprendizaje que hay detrás de la música, simplemente nos limitamos a ver al músico con unos conocimientos ya adquiridos tocando cosas que a priori pueden parecer imposibles pero nada más lejos de la realidad. El único "truco" que tienen la mayoría de estas figuras y composiciones es simplemente la velocidad a la que tienes que empezar a practicarlo empezando a poder ser todo lo lento que te lo permita el ejercicio (obviamente no vas a ponerte a practicar con un metrónomo a 30 bpms xdd) y progresivamente subir la velocidad para adaptar el cuerpo y que la memoria muscular haga su trabajo.( obviamente influye el tiempo que practiques en tu día a día) En resumen con la dedicación suficiente te aseguro que cualquiera de la caja de comentarios que haya estudiado algo de percusión es capaz de hacer lo mismo!

@@michel13angel llevo 16 años ya estudiando música y no hay literalmente nada que no puedas hacer dedicándole el tiempo necesario, si quieres una demostración ponte a estudiar y practicar todo eso que tú ves "imposible" durante por lo menos uno o dos años, después ven aquí a este mismo comentario y dime qué te sale igual de mal que el primer día y si ese es el caso te daré la razón. Literalmente no hay nada que tú y tu memoria muscular no puedan hacer en la batería y te estoy hablando de cualquier pentagrama y figura a cualquier velocidad (temas de saber componer ahí yo sí que creo que son talento y muchísimas horas de oír música) pero métodos puramente técnicos, ritmos, poliritmias, redobles, paradiles.... Todo es práctica. Es un coñazo pero necesario, además de la satisfacción que te da saber que puedes hacer X cosa, aunque tardes dos años en perfeccionar la técnica. Hace dos años empecé a estudiar doble bombo y si pensara de la forma que estás haciendo tú desde luego que a día de hoy no sabría ni por dónde cogerlo después de dos años, en vez de pensar así cogí y me puse una o dos horas a practicar cada vez que tenía ocasión y a día de hoy tocó cosas que antes leía y pensaba (ni de coña xdd). Dedicación, paciencia y esfuerzo es el mejor resumen que te pueden hacer de la batería
@Ronocha7 . Llegar al nivel de este menda, lo veo imposible. No todos somos iguales, ni tenemos las mismas habilidades. Aparte de músico, soy profe y me doy cuenta perfectamente de dónde parte cada uno. ¿Pero tú has visto lo que hace este tío con una mano o como toca jazz latino como si tocaran 5 percusionistas? No dudo lo de echarle hora, ni creo que nadie lo dude, pero este hombre sabe aprovecharlas mejor que nadie.
@@michel13angel Para ser profesor acabas de conocer la autosuperación y la disciplina por lo que se ve, este tío de echa de media 8 horas al día (vete a saber durante cuánto tiempo) con una buena rutina llegas a ese nivel la cosa es cuánto tiempo estás dispuesto a sacrificar para tenerlo. Como el mismo dijo en un podcast, suena muy raro pensar que el ha nacido con un gen específico para tocar unos tambores creados hace 100 años a penas, suena raro de cojones no crees? Obviamente hay prodigios y monstruos, pero hasta el admite que no es uno de ellos

Even though this is little older comment, but holy fucking shit that limb independence is out of this world! I'm here trying to keep a simple beat with that 2/3 clave, and its so hard.. You gotta give props to latin drummers, i thought that metal drumming is hard but that is easy compared to this :D

Damn! I grew up with Rock. Later practiced Jazz for its complexity but my heart was always with Rock. That being said, always admired Latin as the downbeat is hardly ever where you expect it to be. I've learned a few Latin beats but its still tuff for me. Love it though. My Grandson just got married to Colombian girl. Went to Bogota/Cartagena for their wedding & meet the family and I swear every small club had a great Latin band! Plus those people can party...wore me out!!
Learn the Cuban Clave and go from there. If you look closely, after the intro, Estepario is playing the clave beat with the Hi-Hat. Salsa entirely revolves around the clave.

Extraordinario Estepario! Para ser honesto disfruto más de tu talento cuando giras hacia estos patrones rítmicos. Entiendo que haces otros porque te gustan y para generar impacto mostrando tus capacidades (por supuesto que son impresionantes) pero en mi caso disfruto más cuando exploras estos géneros, me gustaría ver más de temas latinos y jazz... puedes subir alguno de ritmos brasileros, electrónico, electrotango, sinfónico y también algo de pop para revitalizar a más de uno (incluyéndome)?
