Even this video shows how popular his character is. And how viewers black and white didn’t see anything wrong with his monologues. We enjoyed his character there was no need to fire him, but for that new showrunner Charles Eglee’s own fear of black people caused by the guilt of the treatment of black people. @"was no need to fire him" I do agree!!! 100% there was absolutely no need to even "allegedly" tell Mr. Jones that they wanted to tone his character down, b/c in the book/source material he only has 2 more non-confrontational appearances after his 1st introduction at the carousel. During the TMZ interview, they reference the producer as saying "he wasnt fired, his character just isnt in the next installment." which is more likely and believable than firing a man on his day off.
